Chapter 180: BEGGING FOR HER FORGIVENESS

Astrid eyes fluttered open for the tenth time, she hadn’t been able to have a good sleep ever since her crash out. She checked the time to see it was 4 am already.

She glanced to her side to see Maren sleeping peacefully, she slowly pulled her hands out of Maren’s grasp, careful not to disturb her friend’s peaceful slumber.

As she swung her legs over the side of the bed, Maren stirred, her eyes fluttering open.

Astrid smiled softly and whispered, "Go back to sleep, I am just getting some water."

Maren nodded and her eyes drifted shut again, Astrid patted her hair softly with a small smile at how she had planned to stay by her side the whole night.

Astrid slowly stood up, padding softly out of the bedroom.

The living room was dimly lit, with only the faint glow of the city lights outside illuminating the space.

As she walked into the kitchen, Astrid flipped on the light, and the sudden brightness made her squint. She filled a glass with water from the fridge and took a refreshing sip.

As she stood there, Astrid’s mind began to wander back to the previous night. She still can’t help her anger, recalling the fact that Julian knew about Mattie’s crazy plan but still decided not to embarrass her in front of her family.

The fact that Julian is the one reason why Mattie is spoiled so much pisses her more.

He cares so much about Mattie but doesn’t even give two folds about her.

She recalled Maren’s words to Julian, and a scoff escaped her lips. How could she be so important to Julian that he would wait outside for her the next day? The thought sent a pang of annoyance through her.

Her hand tightened around the cup as she gulped down the last water in it she slammed it on the kitchen sink, "I will take her out just like her mother,"

Her hands trembled at the fact that Mattie didn’t give regard to her late mum, cheating on Julian for five years and embarrassing her constantly for stealing her man.

"I will deal with you Mattie, enough of the little guilt in my heart. You cheated on him so I will take him and use him against you," she muttered.

Just as she was about to head back to her room, Astrid heard a faint, unfamiliar noise coming from outside her door.

Her heart skipped a beat as she froze, her mind racing to identify the sound. Suddenly, Julian’s face popped into her mind, and she felt a shiver run down her spine.

"It can’t be him, he doesn’t listen to what anyone says. He would disregard Maren’s word" she told herself, trying to shake off the feeling of unease.

But the creaky thought persisted, and Astrid found herself hesitating at the door. Frustrated by her fear, she finally steeled herself and opened the door.

That’s when she saw Julian’s car, still parked outside, its sleek shape illuminated by the moonlight.

Astrid’s eyes widened in shock as she stepped out into the night air. "I must be kidding," she muttered to herself, but the sight of Julian’s car remained, a stubborn reality that refused to be dismissed.

As she walked towards the entrance hall, Astrid’s heart was racing with anticipation. And then, she saw him.

Julian was sitting on the chair in the entrance hall, wrapped up in his jacket, his hands folded against his chest, and his head resting against the wall. His eyes were closed, and his chest rose and fell with each slow breath.

Astrid’s feet seemed rooted to the spot as she took in the sight of Julian, waiting for her in the dead of night.

She felt a mix of emotions, surprise, curiosity, and excitement. What was he doing here? And why was he waiting for her? He doesn’t care one bit about her so why did he listen to Maren?

As she stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Julian’s eyes slowly opened, and he looked up at her.

"Astrid?" Her name escaped Julian’s lips as he forced himself up from the chair, his body stiffening in the cold.

"It’s you," he let out again but she didn’t respond, still lost at the thought of him waiting here the whole night.

He sneezed, his eyes watering, as Astrid moved closer to him. The jacket he wore was twice her size, a clear indication that he had ordered someone to bring it to him and refused to stay in his car.

"Go inside, you will feel cold," Julian told Astrid, his voice laced with concern.

But Astrid was hesitant, her slender figure revealed in her thin, silky nightgown that hugged her curves. The fabric was almost transparent, and Astrid felt a sense of exposure and vulnerability.

Julian quickly reached for his jacket seeing how the suddenly made her tremble because of the cold.

His hands brushed against hers as he tried to help her, but Astrid slapped them away, her eyes flashing with annoyance.

Julian felt a pang of disappointment and looked down, shifting uncomfortably. "I am sorry," he murmured, his voice barely audible. "I won’t go close to you without your permission. I don’t want you to lose it again."

Astrid rolled her eyes, exasperation etched on her face. "Why the hell are you still here?" she demanded, her voice rising. "You get sick easily when it’s cold. Why are you trying to make it seem like I’m the evil one now?"

Julian smiled wryly, shaking his head. "No matter what you do, you’re never at fault," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "I know now that I am crazy."

Astrid raised an eyebrow, skepticism written all over her face. "No, you are just gullible and stupid." she spat, this made him whip his head up in shock.

"What? You haven’t been insulted before?" Julian smiled, shaking his head.

"Nah... I am just surprised at how you easily cursed me out. I did hurt you," he stated and a sardonic chuckle escaped Astrid’s lips.

"Why didn’t you wait in your car? Why did it have to be out of the door in the cold so you would get me to feel sorry for you."

"No, Astrid I.." Astrid shifted back avoiding his touch, turning her back on him. He took in a deep breath as he clenched his fist sad at how she just rejected him.

"Do you think your words can easily make me change my mind?" she asked, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

Julian shook his head, sneezing again. "You can do what you feel, I deserve it" he answered.

Astrid took a deep breath, her shoulders squaring "Fine," she said, her voice firm. "Stay here and freeze. See if I care."

With that, she walked toward her door, she stopped hitting her lip in frustration.

"He fucking deserves to stay there Astrid," she cursed herself out for having a second thought.

She glanced back at Julian, who stood rooted to the spot, his eyes pleading.

"Come in or get out of my villa," Astrid said finally, her voice softer. "I don’t want to be accused by your fiancée of causing you to get sick." she stormed into the house.

Julian’s face lit up with excitement as he dashed into the living room, shutting the door closed behind him. He watched, his eyes fixed on Astrid, as she walked into the kitchen.

She returned with warm water from the dispenser, her expression softening as she handed it to him.

"Here," she said her voice barely above a whisper.

Julian took the water gratefully, gulping them down feeling the warmth spread through his chilled bones.

He looked up at Astrid, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you," he said, his voice sincere.

Astrid’s eyes narrowed, her voice laced with disdain. "You are a boss in your own right, so make your decision and leave in the morning. Don’t pretend like you like me or something."

Julian’s eyes dropped, his face pale. "Astrid, I...I’m so sorry. I was stupid, and right now I will do anything to get your forgiveness."

Astrid scoffed, her voice bitter. "Really? Anything?"

Julian nodded eagerly. "Yes, anything. Just please forgive me."

Astrid’s eyes seemed to bore into his soul. "If I told you to stop the marriage, would you?"

Julian nodded immediately. "Yes, I would. I will call them right now and stop the arrangement."

He pulled out his phone, but Astrid stopped him. "No, don’t call them." Julian looked at her in confusion.

"But...but you just said..."

Astrid’s expression was cold. "If you want my forgiveness, you should tell them to proceed with the arrangement, but you won’t appear at the wedding."

Julian’s eyes widened in shock. "But...but that would cause another embarrassment..."

Astrid rolled her eyes. "I thought as much. You are not willing to do what it takes to make things right."

She turned to leave, but Julian quickly grabbed her hands. "Astrid, wait...I will do it. I will tell them to proceed with the arrangement, and I won’t show up at the wedding. Just please...please forgive me."

Astrid’s eyes locked onto his, a mixture of emotions swirling in their depths. "That is more like it,"
