Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 167: HIS KIND GESTURES
Chapter 167: HIS KIND GESTURES
Maren sat intently in her office, sewing a delicate dress with utmost concentration.
The soft hum of the sewing machine and the gentle rustle of fabric filled the air.
Her door creaked open, and Miles walked in, but Maren was too concentrated to feel someone had walked inside.
Miles sighed, mesmerized by Maren’s focus, and moved closer. He watched her struggle with her hair which kept falling.
He checked his hands to see band carefully wrappers around his wrist and carefully reached out to help her tie her hair so she didn’t get disturbed.
His hands brushed against her neck and Maren’s eyes widened in surprise, and she looked up, startled.
"Why are you here?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of wariness.
She didn’t even know when he came in,m and couldn’t help but keep that question in her heart.
"When did you come inside?" She asked and he scoffed.
"It’s really dangerous for you to be here alone. What if I am someone else will you be that comfortable and not notice someone has entered your office," she amped her head at this muttering. "My bad," she muffled, still standing with her hands on her waist.
Miles gently guided her back to her seat, "Hold on... have your seat, I can help with braiding your hair, so it doesn’t disrupt your work," he let out and began to help her braid her hair, his fingers deftly weaving the strands together.
His head leaned beside hers, and he whispered, "Why are you the only one here?" The warmth of his breath sent shivers down her spine.
"My assistant has been overwhelmed, so I gave her the day off to rest." Her voice was soft, and her eyes seemed to cloud over for a moment.
Miles finished her braid and stepped back, his eyes roving over her face. Maren glanced up at him, her hands folded across her chest, and shook her head.
"Done," he let out and she quickly ran to the full-length mirror, "Wow... you are good at this," she mumbled as she stared at how beautifully he had braided it. Then she recalled something and turned back to him.
"Why are you here today?" She asked, her eyes sparkling with amusement still not believing he was the same Miles she had spent years pursuing.
Miles smiled, "I didn’t get a chance to talk to you this morning. By the time I came out of the bathroom, you were already gone."
His eyes locked onto hers, filled with deep affection and longing. "I missed you."
Maren’s eyes narrowed, her voice firm. "Missed?" She repeated and he nodded his head.
"What are you trying to do, Miles? Why are you here? I thought we agreed I wouldn’t disturb you anymore." Her words were laced with confusion, and Miles looked taken aback, his expression contrite.
"When did I say that?" he asked, his voice soft.
Maren broke into a peal of bitter laughter, "You have been saying it every day, Miles. You have made it clear you don’t want me around." She repeated his words to him, now going back to her seat.
Miles’s expression faltered, guilt etched on his face. He remembered the times he would always push Maren away. How he didn’t care a bit about her feelings, little did he know he was getting attached to her, her hovering around him hadn’t given him the chance to know the importance of what he had.
"Is it because I lost the baby? And you are kind of feeling guilty?" Maren asked, her voice cracking.
"Maren.."
"Don’t worry about me, Miles. I am doing fine. I will find someone better suited for me."She cut him off.
Her words were a facade, a weak attempt to hide the vulnerability she felt.
Miles took a deep breath, his eyes pleading. He squatted beside her, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Can I just have one more chance? Please, Maren. If I mess up again, I will leave you alone forever." His words were laced with desperation, a longing to make things right.
Maren’s resolve wavered, her heart still aching for Miles. Despite her tough exterior, she couldn’t bear the thought of him leaving her forever.
Yeah, she might have made him believe she gave up on him but she is only doing all these to get him to come to her.
She searched his eyes, looking for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity and longing. The previous night she thought it was because she was too drunk to understand her feelings.
She had been hopeless not seeing him beside her in the morning and cried to work herself up so as not to get distracted by her heart.
"Then, if you care a bit about me... why leave without telling me a word?" She asked.
He sighed frustrated," I regret doing that. I had thought you wouldn’t care a bit about my disappearance. I only have plans to come back when and prove my heart to you." She watched him raise his hands.
"I promise, it was an emergency and..." he shut his eyes. "You know our relationship."
"Fine," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I have a lot to do right now. So you can leave."
Miles stood up and she sat well about to continue with the dress when his hand pulled her up.
"What are you doing?" She asked and he only returned a small smile at her, those smiles she would always long for to be directed to her.
She can’t help but hope she wasn’t dreaming, her hand tightened around his warm hands.
"It can wait till tomorrow. You need rest. Your show is in a month, and you have already made enough dresses. You can afford to take a break." He told her as he gently lifted her hands and kissed it.
Maren’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at him. She felt a flutter in her chest, a spark of hope that she thought had long been extinguished. Maybe, just maybe, they can finally work out their love.
"I wouldn’t have a good night at home if..." he kissed her lips shutting her up, her eyes widened in shock, she wanted to scream, Mile was kissing her out of his own will.
He disengaged from the kiss, and Maren’s face was so red from blushing.
"Let’s go," he gestured for her to walk, but she stopped staring at him.
"Where are you taking me?" Maren asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Just come along with me," Miles coaxed, his voice low and husky.
Miles nodded and then walked out of her office, she met with the security at her front door and smiled at him.
"You can lock up now," she instructed and then followed Miles to his car.
As they reached the vehicle, Miles opened the door and pulled out a bouquet that was in the passenger seat.
"For you pretty lady," he let out and she smiled gently as she collected it.
The scent wafted through her nose and she couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction.
"That’s lovely," she let out, pulling one of the roses and placing it by the side of her hair.
Miles was amazed at this, she is a fashion designer and she is the type that loves to do anything design for herself.
He helped Maren in, his hands gentle on her waist. She was taken aback by the chivalrous gesture. Miles had always been distant and cold towards her.
For a moment, Maren forgot about the past and let herself enjoy the attention.
She settled into the passenger seat, feeling a sense of excitement and trepidation.
As Miles slid into the driver’s seat, Maren couldn’t help but steal glances at him. What had brought about this sudden change in behavior? And where was he taking her?
The engine purred to life, and Miles drove out of the company premises, leaving Maren’s questions unanswered wondering what awaited her.
