Chapter 158: MATTIE’s SILLY PLAN
Larry finally arrived at the scene his eyes widening in concern as he took in Julian’s bedraggled appearance. Julian was shivering, his clothes soaked through from the rain.
He needed to even borrow a passer-by phone to reach out to Larry since his phone was still in his wife’s car.
"Boss, what happened?" Larry asked, rushing to Julian’s side. "Why did you go out in the rain? You know how sick you were the last time you got caught in the rain."
Julian recalled the night Astrid had left him, and how he had been holding on despite his illness.
He had refused to take medication and had been consumed by sadness and regret. But the moment Astrid had left, everything had come crashing down on him, and he had to be forced by his parents to admit himself in his house. It was a near-death sickness.
Larry, already looking worried for his boss, helped Julian into the car, and they drove away.
"Take me to my mansion," Julian instructed. Larry was shocked by this, as Julian hardly ever went to the mansion since Astrid left, he keeps saying it doesn’t feel like home anymore so he doesn’t go there.
As they drove, Julian’s mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Astrid and their argument. He recalled her words, and what she said about Stephan, his head couldn’t just wrap around the thought that his best friend would do this.
When they arrived at the mansion, Julian was about to get out of the car when he turned to Larry and asked.
"Did you know that Mattie always bullied Astrid when she was still living in the mansion?"
Larry’s eyes met Julian’s in the rearview mirror, and he nodded slowly. "Yes, she would find every opportunity to hurt Ma’am Astrid."
Julian’s expression turned grim, and he nodded thoughtfully, about to slight Larry’s next words caught him off guard, stopping him.
"I might not be in a position to advise you, sir," Larry said, "But I hope you will take this to heart."
"Go on," he let out and Larry began.
"If you want Ma’am Astrid, you need to stop your relationship with Ma’am Mattie. It might be hard because you’ve been together since you were kids, but you can’t force your heart to love someone it doesn’t want to love."
Julian’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with Larry’s words.
"Ma’am Astrid likes you, sir," Larry continued, "but she can’t fight for you because she thinks you have someone you love. You need to draw boundaries with Mattie and make it clear that you no longer want her. Then, and only then, can you pursue the love you have for Ma’am Astrid."
The car was silent for a long moment, Julian’s eyes fixed on the rearview mirror as he processed Larry’s words.
Julian stumbled out of the car and into his mansion, the darkness enveloping him like a shroud.
He felt a sense of peace wash over him, knowing that Mattie wasn’t inside to bother him.
He made his way to the bar, pouring himself a drink and downing it in one gulp. He repeated this process several times, trying to drown out the memories of Astrid’s words and the pain he had caused her.
As he sat there, he couldn’t help but think about how Astrid couldn’t drink, and how it might affect her if she didn’t. He felt a pang of guilt and regret, knowing that he had never really been there for her.
He thought back to all the times Mattie and Astrid had fought, and how he had always taken Mattie’s side.
He remembered how Astrid would look at him, her eyes filled with hurt and betrayal.
Julian’s head spun as he drank more, feeling the room begin to blur around him. He was so drunk that he didn’t even notice Mattie walking into the bar room.
Mattie was taken aback by Julian’s state, but she quickly regained her composure. She moved closer only to hear what he was saying.
"Astrid I am so so.... Sorry."
"You’re back at the mansion now because you fought with Astrid, right?" she sneered, her eyes flashing with anger.
Julian was too drunk to respond, and Mattie’s eyes narrowed as she took in his vulnerable state.
She had never seen him like this before, and she knew that she had to take advantage of the situation.
"What is going on with you?" Ashe asked but he was not a respondent. She rolled her eyes about to walk out when something played in her head.
That dirty thought she had, she went back to him and then helped Julian up, supporting him as he stumbled toward his room.
As they walked, Julian kept mumbling Astrid’s name, saying "Astrid, I’m sorry... I shouldn’t have listened to Mattie..."
Mattie was furious but she needed to control herself till she was done with her plan.
She heard Julian’s words, but she pushed on, determined to get what she wanted.
Then she helped Julian into his room, throwing him to the bed she smirked.
"Now tell me who has the last laugh," he whispered as she quickly undressed, now left in a bra and panties, her eyes fixed on Julian’s vulnerable form.
As she tried to undress Julian, he caught her hands, his eyes cloudy with drink. "Stop," he mumbled, his voice slurred. "Astrid... I need Astrid..."
She kept her cool, knowing that she had to keep Julian calm if she wanted to get what she wanted. She smiled sweetly, trying to reassure Julian, "Julian this is Astrid, you can tell her anything." Mattie mumbled.
As Mattie’s hands roamed over Julian’s body, even if he couldn’t tell it was Mattie he felt a wave of disgust at her touches.
His eyes blurred, and his body began to burn. Mattie’s voice was husky and seductive as she whispered, "Julian... you’re still well built as ever." she mumbled as she kissed down his torso up to his neck.
Mattie’s hands were relentless, pulling at his shirt and trousers. But Julian’s body was numb, unresponsive to her touch. He felt like he was trapped in a nightmare, with no escape.
Mattie then pulled out her phone, she needed to make things believable and snapped a picture of them, a smirk playing on her lips.
When she was done she dropped her phone and decided to unbuckle his trousers.
Only then did Julian’s eyes snap into focus, and with a surge of adrenaline, Julian pulled out his pistol and pointed it at Mattie.
"Get out of my room," he growled, his voice weak, but he was still managing to control himself.
"It’s me As..." but his next words made her back away immediately, "Mattie don’t mess with me if you don’t want me pulling the trigger."
"Don’t mess with me again," He let out and Mattie picked up her phone and left.
Julian felt a sense of relief wash over him. Mattie got out of the room and then a dirty smirk played on her face.
"Looks like Julian has moved on. She added the pictures she just snapped and sent them to Astrid’s number.
Mattie’s eyes gleamed with hate as she watched the message delivered. She knew that Astrid would be devastated, that she would feel betrayed and hurt.
Mattie smiled knowing this would drive a wedge between Julian and Astrid, and she had to ensure that Julian would never be able to go back to Astrid again.
