Chapter 147: HER PRESENTATION
Astrid looked down at her beautiful dress she wore, which Maren had brought along with her.
She felt exquisite in it, and her confidence was boosted by the way the dress hugged her curves.
She had planned to finally have her meeting scheduled with the JL Line Corps, her father-in-law’s company.
She was proud that she was finally able to schedule a meeting with such a powerful company.
As she walked inside the building, everyone’s eyes turned to her. "Mrs. Logan, we have been expecting you," a receptionist said, smiling warmly.
Astrid smiled back, feeling a sense of pride at being addressed as Mrs. Logan. It had been a while since she had heard that title, but she didn’t bother correcting him.
"Lead me to the boss’s office," she stated, her voice confident and assertive.
The receptionist nodded and led her to the elevator. As they were about to step inside, a voice called out.
"Julian..." Astrid turned to see Julian standing behind her, a smirk on his face.
The receptionist bowed slightly. "Mr. Logan, wasn’t expecting you here today." Julian snickered and gestured for the receptionist to leave. Without another word, the receptionist scurried away.
Julian joined Astrid in the elevator, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. Astrid, still in surprise at his sudden appearance, finally got herself together.
"Why are you here?" she asked, trying to keep her tone neutral. "I have a meeting with your dad today, not you."
"Well, he must not have told you but we are both investing in this so-called building you are working for so I am invited."
Astrid rolled her eyes as he stood beside her, leaning closer to her he tried to sniff her but she shifted away.
"What the heck is your problem? Stay aw.." he pushed her against the elevator door leaning toward sniffing her leaving satisfaction on his face.
"You pissed me enough when I came to your villa yesterday, I don’t want to get repeated this morning." she narrowed her eyes.
"Julian... stop it, you have.." he locked his lips with her as she tried to argue with he turned against the other wall.
"You don’t want this door opening and the eyes seeing us having an intimate in this elevator do you." She bit her lip and forced herself not to talk and he let her go.
He winked at her and just then the door opened, He walked forward and then stretched his hands for her to hold
She refused and walked past him, she was beginning to get pissed at his behavior now.
"Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Logan... she glared at him, and he shrugged his shoulders pretending not to understand what she meant by that gaze.
They finally got into the meeting hall, where Desmond was already waiting for her.
Desmond’s eyes widened in surprise as he took in the sight of Astrid and Bryce standing together.
"Wow... wasn’t expecting you both together," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Astrid smiled warmly as Desmond approached her. "Desmond, it’s great to see you again," she said, extending her hand.
Desmond shook her hand firmly. "Likewise, Astrid. I must say, I am impressed by your work. Julian here has been raving about your design," he said, nodding towards his son.
Julian smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, Dad, Astrid’s design is amazing. I think it’s exactly what our company needs."
Astrid’s eyes lit up with excitement. "Thank you, Dad, I am glad you like it. I have been working hard to create something unique and functional." she let out still not glancing at Julian.
Desmond nodded seeing what his daughter in law did. "Well, you have certainly succeeded. Shall we get started on the presentation? We have a few stakeholders here who are eager to see your design."
Astrid nodded, taking a deep breath. She began to set up her presentation, expertly arranging her slides and notes.
As she started her presentation, Astrid’s confidence shone through. She spoke clearly and concisely, using her slides to illustrate her points.
The room was captivated by her presentation, and when she finished, the room erupted into applause.
Desmond beamed with pride. "Congratulations, Astrid. That was an excellent presentation. You have certainly won us over."
Julian nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Astrid, you’re a genius. We’d be lucky to have you on our team."
Astrid smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. "Thank you, Desmond. Thank you, Julian. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your company."
As the room continued to buzz with excitement, Astrid couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction. She had worked hard to get to this point, and it was finally paying off.
The contract was brought over as they all signed on the contract "Congratulations once again," Desmond greeted and they shook hands.
As the meeting came to a close, Astrid was about to walk out when Julian pulled her back. His eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief as he said, "So, my dear beautiful wife, I would also need your service for a new building project."
Astrid snatched her grip from Julian’s grasp, her expression cool and detached. "If you want that, you can reach out to me through my assistant. It will all be handled from there."
Julian’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in frustration. He leaned closer to Astrid, his broad shoulders trapping her against the table. "I see no reason why I should need to reach out to my wife’s assistant if I want your service," he said, his voice low and husky.
Astrid rolled her eyes, her fists clenched in annoyance. "Julian, if you proceed with obstructing my way or things I do, then get this into your brain, I willreport you to the cops."
Julian smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. He placed his head on Astrid’s shoulder, his voice taking on a pleading tone. "What can I do to get you to forgive me?"
Astrid’s expression softened slightly, but she quickly hardened her heart.
"Forgive? You expect me to forgive? You never offended me, Julian. I just want to give you the life you want. You have always wanted her."
Julian raised his head from Astrid’s shoulder, his eyes staring intensely into hers. "But I want you now, I..." Astrid pushed him away, her expression firm.
"Julian, you still haven’t figured out your heart yet. Pretty sure you want to be with me now that you saw me again and I am different." She sighed, her voice laced with sadness. "You now see me as a wife, a girl fit for your status, so you want me to accept you."
Astrid pulled her bag from the table, her eyes flashing with determination. "We can still be friends if that’s what you ask for, but for me to continue being your wife... I’m so sorry, Julian."
With that, Astrid walked out of the room, leaving Julian speechless once more.
