Chapter 116: FINDING OUT ABOUT THE BABY

"Maren..." Miles called rushing toward her but Maren grabbed Astrid’s hands, shaking her head and gesturing for her not to say any more words.

Astrid gave Maren an apologetic look. This was getting her so scared that she had already announced it.

"I think we should take her to the hospital," Astrid let out again, attaining back their lost self.

"I will be fine," Maren let out as she was helped up by Astrid.

"Hey, I can’t let you.." Miles was about to touch her when Maren smacked his face.

"Stay away from me!" she screamed out, groaning in pain as she leaned on Astrid.

"But Maren you are bleeding," he pleaded.

"Let’s go inside." Maren cut him off. Astrid, having no choice but to do what Maren wanted, decided to follow her rules.

"Lets.." Julian bit in and Maren glared at him this time making him stand back.

Mattie’s cracked voice whispered. "I... I... didn’t mean for that to happen, brother, I only.."

"Shut the fuck up!" Miles growled his exasperation running through his veins. He is just figuring out that if she is pregnant it means he is the father.

"I think it’s best you let her be for now. I can see the anger onher face when you touch her," Julian suggested.

Miles looked up at his friend, not in the mood for bickering he found his way to the couch.

Julian looking so worried for his friend moved closer to him now beside him and watched his friend sit there he was left in turmoil.

"She should have told me about the baby," Miles let out again, getting irritated.

"Maybe, she was confused about the whole situation, and had thought that was the best decision." Julian proposed.

Miles tilted his head to his friend with a questioning look. "Best decision? That was my child, and Astrid also fucking knew about it!"

Julian sighed at the mention of Astrid, he wasn’t on good terms with her all these while and that explains why she didn’t tell him, especially since it’s a top secret.

Just then Mattie wheeled down to where they both sat looking confused.

"Hold on? How did you both end up together? How come the baby is yours?" she asked curiously.

"Get the heck out of my face!" Miles yelled at him and Mattie rolled her eyes.

"You should thank me, you wouldn’t even know this if I didn’t push her," Miles glanced her way, almost smacking her against the wheelchair.

"Get the hell outta here before I make you regret your decision," She fluttered her eyes in surprise and quickly wheeled beside Julian.

"I need to talk to her," Miles let out standing from the couch, "What? You can’t, you will push her away more from you." Julian stopped him but a glare made Julian peel off his hand.

"I want her to tell me the reason why she couldn’t allow me to have access to my child," Miles announced, walking off.

"You don’t even know her room," Julian let out from behind and he stopped walking.

"Take me there," he announced.

Julian smirked strutting toward him, "Beg me," he said Miles chuckled at this.

"You don’t want to regret it do you?" Julian shrugged his shoulders and then told him.

Miles knew every single corner of the house so it was easier for him to navigate through and get to her room easily.

He knocked on the door and there was no response at first, he did it again for the second time and then the door opened, and there he met with Astrid.

"Oh, it’s you.." Miles squinted his gaze, "Who else should be here if not me," Miles retorted.

"The doctor maybe," she answered and Miles walked in pushing her away from the door and finding his way inside the room.

Maren’s eyes still reflected pain, but her demeanor shifted when her gaze met with that of Miles. "Why are you here?" she asked, irritated.

Before receiving an answer, another knock at the door interrupted.

"Come in," Astrid called out.

Then the doctor entered, Miles recognized her as the doctor who had greeted Maren in the hospital, and only then did he know how stupid he was.

"Good evening everyone," She greeted as she walked inside, and then her eyes met with Maren.

"Miss Maren, this is exactly why I wanted you to rest." she let out already getting into action.

She approached Maren, concern etched on her face. "Let me check on you." Maren nodded, wincing as the doctor gently examined her.

"As I suspected," the doctor murmured. "You’ve experienced internal bleeding."

Astrid’s eyes widened. "What happened?" The doctor’s gaze turned serious.

"Miss Maren, you just had an abortion a few days ago. The procedure can cause sensitivity. Unfortunately, the blow to your abdomen worsened the situation." Miles’ face darkened, his eyes narrowing.

"What is the solution now?" Miles asked. The doctor’s expression turned stern.

"We need to monitor her closely. I will prescribe additional medication to manage the bleeding."

Astrid’s worry deepened. "Will she be okay?"

The doctor reassured, "With proper care, yes. But she needs complete rest and avoidance of strenuous activities."

Maren’s eyes drifted shut, her face pale.

The doctor continued, "I’ll schedule a follow-up appointment for tomorrow. Let’s get her stabilized."

With that, the whole room turned silent.

Elizabeth could be seen signing the DNR form, even though Dr Lee is so worried about not letting Astrid know he still feels it was a good decision.

Prolonging her in pain just to save her would keep causing more harm.

When she was done, she handed him back the hole with a smile.

"One more thing," she asked out making him glance at her.

"Is there a way I can reach out to the Logans without my daughter finding out?" she asked as the doctor was left in surprise.

"Oh... ma’am... of all families, not the Logans, we can only see Julian Logan because his wife is here." She nodded at her.

"Then how about Julian?" he stared at her for a while, "Doing that without Mrs Logan being aware of it, is kind of hard." Elizabeth, stated at him as her breathing was becoming hard.

"Dr. please I..."

"Must you see Julain?" an unfamiliar voice stated and they both looked back in shock to see Rowan standing by the door with his arm crossed against his chest

"Mr. Chris, wasn’t expecting you here," Dr Lee bowed looking around wondering how he walked without any of them noticing.

"Who are you?" Elizabeth asked in shock, he smiled at this.

"Heard, you are awake and Astrid left the hospital so I thought of seeing you for a bit,"

"But.."

"I have Julian’s contact and can help with that," Dr Lee glanced back at Elizabeth.
