Chapter 111: ARGUMENT WITH HIM

Chapter 111: ARGUMENT WITH HIM

Astrid walked into her mum’s room with the help of the doctors leading her to her mum’s room.

She is irritated and annoyed with what had transpired a few minutes ago.

She sat on the bed beside her mum, trying to muffle the sound that was coming from her.

She grabbed her mum’s hand, though the doctor didn’t know exactly when she would wake up but they did their best to help her.

"Mum..." she wiped her tears as she shut her eyes, "Isn’t this becoming way too much? You are spending months unconscious..." she let out tears trickling down her face.

"I want to talk to you again, I..." she took a deep breath, "He Didn’t come after me, that means he loves Mattie way too much right?" she sighed again, her hands now caressing her face.

"Now that they know about it all, I should always visit, right?" A small smile played on her face.

Then Dr. Lee walked into the room, a warm smile on his face. "Oh, you’re here today. I came to check up on her."

Astrid stood up from the bed, her bright smile masking the tears she had shed earlier.

"Thanks for always being there, Doctor. I am so happy to have someone I can rely on to take care of her."

Dr. Lee’s expression turned grateful. "Mrs. Logan, it’s the least I can do. If you hadn’t intervened the other day, I would have been fired and lost the Logans’ trust."

Astrid’s smile faltered for a moment before she regained her composure.

"I was the cause of you almost getting fired, so I should be the one to apologize." Astrid let out and he stared at her with a small smile.

The door swung open attaining their attention as they both glanced in the direction of the door to see Julian standing there.

Julian’s gaze narrowed, his eyes locked onto them both. "Why are you here?" Astrid asked, her voice firm. She wasn’t in the mood to see him.

Julian’s gaze lingered on Astrid and Dr. Lee’s closeness before responding.

"Astrid, please keep your distance from him if you want him to continue taking care of your mother."Astrid’s eyes flashed with annoyance. "What is your problem?" She fired at home

Dr. Lee, already sensing the anger brewing in both couples, decided to butt in before it escalated.

"I should take my leave now."

The room fell silent, with neither Astrid nor Julian responding. Dr. Lee took this as his cue to leave, not wanting to get caught in the middle of their tension.

As Dr. Lee exited, Julian strolled toward Astrid, his eyes gleaming with amusement while Astrid shifted back, her eyes wary.

Julian snickered, stretching his hand to pull her closer. "You hate being close to me, but with the doctor, you’re cozy?"

"Don’t you dare do anything crazy! He’s the one I trust to take care of my mom." Astrid’s voice rose.

Julian’s smile deepened as he caressed her face. "Are you sure I still have that much calm in me not to do it?" Astrid slapped his hand away, her eyes flashing.

Julian’s chuckle sent shivers down her spine, The air was thick with tension as they locked eyes.

"Go to the one you love and stop coming closer to me," This time her voice was frustrated she was tired of getting confused.

No matter what he loves Mattie lives, he is only in this dilemma because she has the title of his wife.

"What if I don’t?" he whispered as she placed his hands on his lips, ignoring her mum who was still lying on the bed.

Astrid exhaled frustration, as she pushed him backward out of infuriated her words piercing Julian’s heart. "I hate you!" She yelled with everything she had in her.

Julian stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock, as Astrid pushed him. Despite his strength, he just allowed her to create distance.

"Yes," Astrid continued, her voice trembling. "Fine! I liked you even before we got close. You have always been my secret crush."

Julian’s face reflected stunned silence, he had always heard from others that she loved him but he never took them seriously.

"Call me a gold digger, call me a fool," Astrid’s voice cracked, "But no matter what, my crazy heart won’t stop beating for you."

Julian struggled to process Astrid’s confession. Her cold demeanor had convinced him she didn’t care about him one bit.

"How can I believe you love me?" Julian asked disbelief etched on his face. "Isn’t this just about my money from the beginning?"

Astrid’s gaze locked onto Julian’s, her eyes burning with shock. She then shook her head.

"I don’t need your money to become someone better," she emphasized, glancing at her sleeping mother.

"I never told you about my mom because I didn’t want your pity. I managed to sort things out, even withdrawing from the card you gave me."

Astrid’s voice softened. "I promised I would pay you back when I get the chance. Aside from that, I have never asked you to ever give me money.

Julian’s expression transformed, it now held guilt he shouldn’t have blamed her at all or even hinted at her that she was a gold digger.

"Astrid," he whispered, taking a step closer. "Stop.." she gestured for him and his anger bubbled up immediately.

"Prove it," Julian challenged, his voice low. "Prove your love isn’t about my wealth."

Astrid’s jaw set, "she moves toward him and again pancakes him on his face leaving him stupefied.

"If my heart continues to love you, I will find a way to stop it." she let out.

"Astrid..." she smacked him on his chest. "You silly bastard! Even though I hated Stephan, he helped at the right time. I would rather get money from someone who everyone thinks we hate one another than from you!"

Though she is pleased Stephan had helped when her dad was trying to take over but that wasn’t still making her forgive him.

"You mean Stephan, my friend?" he asked shocked, he couldn’t believe Stephan knew about it to the extent of helping her mum and they both kept it from him.

She glanced at him and rolled her eyes. She shifted back and turned but he gripped her hands pulling her back.

"So are telling me that Rowan and Stephan knew about your mum but not your husband?"

"Yes, why have a problem with that? You just called me a gold digger a few minutes ago, that is what I am."

"Are you crazy?" He barked at her.

"I am the only man that would help you and not ask anything crazy in return!" she tried to snatch her grip from him but it became tight."

"Ju... Julian, you are hurting me.." he turned her against the wall slamming her back against it.

"Rowan is a business rival of mine, Stephan hates you to the core and you still accepted for them to pay?"

Astrid struggled against Julian’s grip, desperation creeping into her voice. "I don’t know about Rowan..." she admitted, though she knew Stephan was involved, not Rowan.

Julian’s anger boiled over, his eyes blazing. "Are you going to continue acting this way?" he growled as his hands trailed up to her neck...

Astrid tried to free herself, but Julian’s grasp tightened around her neck. "Julian..." she cried out.

"Why are you fucking close to them but not me?" Julian yelled, punching the wall with his other arm. Those words held pain, he wanted her closer to him to share things with him, not the other guys.

The door swung open, and Miles was met with a shocking scene. "Asshole!" he yelped as he sprinted toward them, kicking Julian away.

"Astrid!" Miles exclaimed, helping her gasp for breath. "He... he almost killed me!" she whispered, staring at Julian, those eyes now held fear.

Miles’ gaze locked onto Julian, who wore a snicker on his face. "What now? You’ve never seen me this angry. Are you going to punch me?" Julian taunted.

Miles’ hands trembled with rage. "You bastard!" he spat ready to punch Julian but Astrid’s grip on Miles’ arm tightened.

"Please, Miles, my mom is here..." she pleaded, she didn’t want to cause more scenes.

Miles’ tension eased, making Julian’s fury intensify at the way she was close to him.

"I don’t care about your shit anymore, please leave." Astrid gestured to Julian.

"Are you sending me out now?" Julian asked as he felt a pang of pain at her rejection.

But then a faint voice whispered, "Aww... my head hurts..." At first, she thought She heard something wrong and didn’t pay attention until another faint voice echoed. "Water..."

Astrid’s gaze darted around, her eyes wide. "That voice..." she whispered.

Miles looked at her curiously until the voice repeated, "Water..."

This time, Astrid saw movement, she was sure that time was no hallucination.

"Miles, I... I’m not hallucinating, am I?" Astrid asked.

Just then her mother’s eyes fluttered open, locking onto Astrid.

"Mum!" Astrid cried out, rushing to embrace her tightly happiness filled Astrid’s heart with joy.

Tears streamed down Astrid’s face. "You’re awake, Mom!"
