(6800)_3 “Boss?
Gu Ying?”
The Swordsman touched his head, feeling both surprised and perplexed: “Why have you all come?
It shouldn’t be anything too major, right?”
It wasn’t that Green Tide underestimated the importance of a Spirit Energy User, but it wasn’t something that would require a Lord to personally step out the door—let alone Gu Ying, the cutting-edge researcher.
Although initially unclear, after a few weeks in Xia Hui Domain, Green Tide came to understand that the mild and honest-looking White Folk (Adalbert’s disguised identity) he received from the Dragon Worship Cult was actually a research genius whose strength was not inferior to his own boss.
He had witnessed Gu Ying and Ian engaging in intense discussions and even debates over certain research projects; and though Ian won more than he lost, this was one of the rare occasions he saw Ian being convinced by someone else’s opinion!
As a full-time researcher and top-tier Alchemist, Gu Ying’s place in the ecological hierarchy of Xia Hui Domain was at least T1 Standard under Ian!
For such key figures to come all the way to the Black Swamp just for news of Miles…
could it be that this kid’s potential is greater than I thought?
Or is his ability very rare?
It’s a combination of both.
“You’ve really done a great deed this time, Green Tide!”
The silver-green brilliance shone in Ian’s eyes as he gazed at Miles resting in the room, being cared for by the little girl with orange hair, his tone fervent: “I didn’t expect it to be effortless—to actually find Azure City’s last survivor…
a living Artificial Soul Bearer!”
“Moreover, his Spirit Energy state is truly extraordinary!”
Compared to Ian’s excitement, Adalbert’s emotions were incredibly complex, mixing joy with guilt: “Azure City’s last survivor…
If you, Green Tide, hadn’t arrived in time, they might have died in our territory.”
“If that were the case, it would’ve been a mistake I could never forgive myself for in my lifetime…
Thank you so much, Green Tide!”
As he spoke, Adalbert clasped the bewildered Green Tide’s hand tightly, full of gratitude, making the Swordsman somewhat embarrassed: “Ah, is it really that big of a deal?”
In fact, it was indeed that big of a deal.
Ian swept his eyes over Miles and the several workers beside him, each one of them deathly pale with black and red intermingling, only returning to normal after his arrival.
If things had followed their original course, all of these people were clearly doomed to die; heaven knows why they had such misfortune.
But because of the changes brought by Ian, be it Green Tide’s advancement or the Mountain People’s purging of the Bison Mountain Range, the Magical Beasts were reined in considerably, hence allowing them a chance to survive.
A Prophet’s alterations to the surrounding environment and the tides of the era could change countless people’s destinies.
But this is also where the problem lies; these changes can be good or bad, and even a Prophet needs help to notice the ‘opportunities’ hidden within the subtleties—Green Tide was the one who seized such an opportunity, noticing and protecting Miles.
Miles himself could never have imagined that just by showing a bit of his Spirit Energy, he would draw the attention of his boss’s boss’s boss’s boss’s boss—though it sounds convoluted, there really are that many layers!
After all, above the settlement manager is the chief manager, and above the chief manager is the Xia Hui Territory Bison Mountain Range Development Department, which is under the direct management of the Lord…
If it wasn’t for the fact that he was physically inconvenienced, Miles would have gotten out of bed and prepared to kneel upon hearing the news—he wasn’t dead and didn’t dare to lie in bed waiting for the Lord to come.
Yet, as Miles was preparing to get out of bed, he saw the face of the entering Ian and was stunned.
Those green eyes…
“You, you’re the one who gave me that box of supplies?”
Miles didn’t even realize he had knelt down, but he felt no sensation at all.
Those familiar green eyes, and the scenes of the exploding aircraft that appeared time to time in the young Swordsman’s dreams, he always wondered if the kind Sublimator who had given him supplies had died, and whether he would have a chance to express his gratitude…
But as his own life was very difficult, he really didn’t have the spare energy to think too much and had to give up.
However, lately, with his issues of food, clothing, and shelter resolved, Miles picked up this dilemma again.
Perhaps it was the obsession of a Spirit Energy User—after all, Spirit Energy Users are a group of people who are persistent and exceptionally minded.
He always wanted to know the identity of that Sublimator and repay his kindness.
After all, without that box of supplies, he and Cynthia might have already died.
“Yes.
It was me.”
There’s no custom of kneeling in Xia Hui Domain, but many people are still willing to kneel before Ian voluntarily.
Ian didn’t have much to say about this; as long as it showed loyalty to him, he didn’t mind the formality.
Gazing at the purple-haired Swordsman before him, Ian’s eyes swept over the light orange-haired, somewhat uneasy and confused little girl beside him, and he smiled slightly, an invisible force helping them up to sit side by side on the bed: “Don’t be so nervous, the last two survivors of Azure City, I didn’t expect to meet you here either.
It seems we truly share some fate.”
“After much twist and turn, you came to my territory, and in a sense, it’s also because of you that I was able to advance to the Second Energy Level so soon.
The flow of fate is indeed quite interesting.”
