Chapter 774 - 774 24 Ian Borrows Heavenly Lightning_2
774: Chapter 24 Ian Borrows Heavenly Lightning_2 774: Chapter 24 Ian Borrows Heavenly Lightning_2 “Attack!
Attack!” the officer immediately commanded his troops to return fire, and in no time, a relentless barrage of bullets was unleashed, raining down like the torrential downpour currently hitting these Powered Armors—yet all were deflected by the outer armor plating, failing to leave even the smallest mark.
“Anti-Impact Armor Plating?!
Who’s the Glyph Artisan that mounted Aether Armaments onto Powered Armor?!” The officer was startled by this development, astonished at the artisan’s financial capability and terrified by the enemies’ fearsome defensive power, “We need to use heavy firepower—Sublimators have to join in!
Follow my lead in the charge!”
He drew his longsword from his waist, the visible whirlwind wrapping around the weapon.
The defensive power of the Anti-Impact Armor Plating was related to the Alchemy Furnace Core, and since these Powered Armors weren’t Armor Suits, the loaded Alchemy Furnace Cores certainly couldn’t be large.
With the officer’s strength, he should be able to breach the defense and inflict lethal damage on the pilots inside.
But then, another swift figure darted out, leaving a graceful trail of sword light.
“Your opponent is me!”
Green Tide laughed as he dashed forward, his figure previously concealed behind the massive form of Magnetic Storm Armor, waiting for the moment when the Mountain officer tried to stop the Magnetic Storm Armor!
Holding dual swords, the ancestral Seaborn Longsword and the Galewind Longsword given to him by Ian sparkled through the misty rain, with the glowing light leaving a trail of afterimages that constantly changed trajectory.
The Blue-haired Swordsman was like an arrow loosed from its bow, shooting straight toward the Mountain officer.
How could the Mountain officer have anticipated an ambush from such a master?
He barely had time to take a breath, forced to hurriedly raise his sword to block.
But his block was stopped for a moment by Green Tide’s rapidly thrusting left-handed sword—meanwhile, the Swordsman’s right hand was already slashing from the side.
The Seaborn Longsword in the rain seemed to surge with tidal waves, effortlessly bearing a water blade meters long as it sliced into the officer’s left shoulder and split him directly in two, resulting in the immediate death of the unfortunate Mountain officer on the spot.
Such was bladework in close combat—in an instant, it determined both the victor and life or death.
Although Ian playfully called Green Tide an ordinary Second Power Level genius, how could one truly be ordinary if they were regarded as a genius by Ian?
This individual, of humble origin and lacking much education, managed to reach the First Power Level Peak purely through strenuous practice in military swordsmanship and could ascend to the Second Power Level with Magic Potion, was now facing off against mere Mountain officers reliant on their Bloodlines, effectively dealing a crushing blow from a higher plane.
“The first decaptiation.”
Green Tide sheathed his sword, not particularly attentive to the officer he had slain, but merely muttered a number to himself—a habit from his mercenary days—because he had another target in mind, the Moose Monsters, which had started running amok with the death of their commander.
“The second and third are coming up soon.”
He smiled, stepping forward without hesitation—immediately, the Swordsman transformed into a misty silhouette in the water, lunging toward the Mountain Troops.
Joining him in the charge were five Magnetic Storm Armors.
Led by Green Tide, with the Magnetic Storm Armors as the spearhead, the charge obliterated the Mountain supply team’s initial and only resistance.
Thunder roared through the ranks, but it couldn’t harm the Magnetic Storm Armor itself, as Green Tide daringly weaved through the arcs of lightning from his allies, and with each flash of his sword, he struck down one resistant Mountain soldier after another.
No one could withstand them.
They shattered the vanguard guarding the supplies, and like infuriated bulls, they trampled all the food, forage, and camp equipment underfoot, while the Moose Monster sought to collide with the Magnetic Storm Armor only to have a sword light skillfully sever its neck, its enormous head tumbling to the ground.
In contrast, the massive targets of the Magnetic Storm Armor drew nearly all the firepower as they swung their Thunder Whips, lashing at the supplies and, in a spark of lightning, a fire amidst the downpour turned all the food to charcoal.
The earth trembled, and lightning streaked across it.
But as the remaining Mountain Troops finally assembled for a true counterattack under the command of another officer, the figures of Magnetic Storm Armor and Green Tide had vanished.
Hit and run—this was the strategy Ian had devised for them.
They struck only the unprepared first wave, destroying as much supply as possible.
Their task was to repeatedly raid the Mountain people’s supply teams, forcing the enemy to hasten their siege on Leyan City and engage in a decisive battle!
“The supply team is under attack?!”
When Sheyan, the leader of the Mountain base, received this news, an hour had already passed.
The rain slowed the pace of message delivery, and the lean Chieftain’s face was filled with disbelief, “Are you saying, a single Sublimator leading a team, including five Knights in Sublimation Armor, completely crushed our supply team?”
“How is this possible?
They had the manpower of three armed squads!
And they were overthrown by just six individuals?”
Though he voiced his confusion, deep down he understood that this was quite normal—the leading Sublimator Swordsman was evidently overbearingly powerful.
Moreover, the new Magnetic Storm Armor unveiled by the Leyan Territory was astonishingly effective in the rain, paralyzing and shocking many soldiers to the ground with electrical discharges rather than directly killing them with electricity.
Some drowned in the mud, some were crushed to death by armored clothing, and some were finished off with a coup de grâce…
The number of deaths from such extraordinary means was four to five times higher than those directly electrocuted to carbonization.
With rapid thoughts, Sheyan was no fool—he immediately realized that this was a clear stratagem by the new Lord of Leyan City urging him to launch an attack—the destruction of the baggage train would inevitably demoralize the troops and affect the encampment and supplies.
Even if there were still supplies that could be delivered to their camp at the gorge’s mouth, it would take time…
Not to mention, if the enemy could strike once, who’s to say they couldn’t strike a second time?
Although Sheyan didn’t know how his troops’ marching route had been predicted, he had to regard such a guess as a reality and deduce from it.
This was a clear scheme.
He had to attack immediately, because if this continued and the soldiers truly began to worry about provisions, Snake Valley would no longer be able to control this army as it currently did.
Disintegrated Mountain People would not only be incapable of breaking Leyan City, they might even be crushed by Leyan City in return!
“All units, attention!
Target, Leyan City!”
Without the slightest hesitation, he announced with the loudest voice and ordered the messengers to relay his command to the entire army: “Since the enemy has deprived us of our provisions, let us kill them and take their provisions for ourselves!”
“The food in Leyan City is our food!”
As he encouraged his troops with these words, Sheyan stepped into his Armor Suit.
With the Signal Bone connected, the dark green Fifth Generation Land Combat Armor from Fiery Flame Land rose from the transport vehicle and arrived at the forefront of the troops with a swiftness incomprehensible to humans: “Follow me into attack!”
The terror of the soldiers was dispelled by the armor.
—Indeed, what does it matter if Leyan City ambushed the supply train?
Doesn’t it just mean that the enemy fears us?
As long as they launched an attack on Leyan City, everything would get better!
Rumble rumble…
Above in the sky, dark clouds rolled, and thick arcs of lightning roared and surged, manifesting the grandeur of nature’s power.
Atop the tower of Leyan City, Ian squinted his eyes, watching the distant flashes of sword light.
“It seems that Green Tide is indeed the most stable one,” he murmured to himself and then chuckled: “The commander of the Mountain People is actually a smart man.
Though declaring a full assault, he’s still advancing steadily—if I truly planned only to exploit the concentrated forces in the rain for a sneak attack, I would have no way to counter such a move.”
“But this time is different.”
The youth lifted his head and under the incredulous gaze of Scott and the Leyan City militia behind him, raised his hand and pointed towards the sky: “Because even the heavens are helping us.”
“Look.
Thunder will be our weapon!”
As Ian pointed, a thunderbolt suddenly burst in the distant sky, cleaving down from mid-air toward the area that was likely the Mountain Troops.
Boom!
A dazzling line appeared between heaven and earth, lighting the dark world and pricking at everyone’s soul.
Clearly, the Lightning Attractor had begun to take effect.
Not just one.
Streaks of light from the thunder rods interwove as they descended.
For the Mountain Troops on the march, everything was like an unbelievable nightmare.
But for Leyan City, this bolt of lightning that fell at their Lord’s guidance was as miraculous and incredible as a divine sign.
