Chapter 773 - 773 24 Ian Borrowing Heavenly Thunder

773: Chapter 24 Ian Borrowing Heavenly Thunder 773: Chapter 24 Ian Borrowing Heavenly Thunder Heavy rain poured down relentlessly, the droplets ferociously pattering against tree branches and leaves, causing the canopy to quiver and emit a clamorous tidal noise.

In the mountainous terrain of South Ridge, a thick mist of rain swiftly filled the air, its hazy moisture intertwining and spreading amongst the woods and the main roads.

“This rain really couldn’t come at a worse time.”

Upon seeing the downpour, Sheyan couldn’t help feeling annoyed; although the heavy rain provided cover, making their march more concealed and preventing them from being targeted by the cannon fire of Leyan City, it also meant their marching speed would be affected in turn.

Should they wait for the rain to stop before attacking?

As he pondered this question, little did he know that a unit had already set off an hour ago, when the cannons roared.

Their target was the supply convoy of the Mountain Troops!

The narrow mountain paths of South Ridge made it difficult for forces to deploy effectively.

Positioned behind the main body of the Mountain Troops, the supply convoy carried grain, Armor Suit supplies, and parts for the camps – their movement couldn’t keep up with the main force – but this didn’t mean they lacked combat strength.

In reality, any supply convoy would have a certain level of fighting capability, with several squads guarding its flanks.

However, the ambush squad was even more elite.

In the mountain region, a convoy of about one hundred and fifty supplies was slowly advancing with two large Moose Magical Beasts guarding the side.

Their gigantic rocky antlers towered like treetops, branching profusely, and their massive stature, over three meters tall, allowed them to drag a significant amount of goods.

“This rain has made the roads far too muddy!” an officer of the supply convoy lamented as he watched the downpour from the heavens, shaking his head: “It’s even difficult to discern the direction.”

“Isn’t this just how our weather is?” another officer said nonchalantly: “We’ve seen even heavier rain…

During that great storm year, the rain rushed down the slopes and nearly swept our tribe away.”

“That’s true.” The officer didn’t find it strange, after all, that’s just how the weather is in South Ridge; storms and rain could come at any moment.

Even so, the progress of the supply convoy inevitably slowed down considerably.

Stepping down into the muddy ground, one might even pull out only a foot if the shoes weren’t tight enough, leaving the boots stuck in the mud.

The wheels of the convoy almost did not roll on the wet muddy road, but were forcefully dragged forward by the strength of the Camel Beasts and Magical Beasts.

The Mountain Troops had no reservations about attacking Leyan City—not only because it was considered Holy Ground, but also because of Leyan City’s wealth.

Though Mount Entrance, Sturdy Valley, and the Xuānfēng Sect had already plundered it beforehand, hadn’t they all been put to the sword by that new Lord?

If so, the wealth of Leyan Territory must still be in the city, and that Lord has spent quite a sum rebuilding, which might mean even more loot this time!

Expecting these Mountain People to truly possess some noble nationalistic spirit was unrealistic – in fact, they lacked even a foul sense of nationalism – they didn’t at all feel their rebellion was genuinely about ‘restoring the Dragon God’s Kingdom’ or ‘recreating the Federation of the Mountains.’ Everyone clearly understood that they were merely pawns in a power struggle between Fiery Flame Land and The Empire.

Amongst the great power conflict, these people, already struggling to survive, had to sacrifice their most precious possessions for food and a future.

Such as their lives.

Therefore, before their lives ended, they had to obtain wealth as much as possible, plunder what they desired.

All Rebel Highlanders had received their chieftain’s promise – if they conquered Leyan City, they would be allowed to plunder for three days.

Thus, this troop was full of fervor, driven by the power formed from their greed for wealth and yearning for merit.

But just as the supply convoy continued to push forward, suddenly, the leading Sublimator officer seemed to hear an unusual sound.

Sizzling…

He couldn’t quite make it out, but amid the rain-fog-filled black jungle, there seemed to be a faint sound of electric surges.

“Something’s off!”

As a Sublimator, the officer naturally could not ignore such an odd harbinger.

He immediately raised his hand and shouted loudly, “Defensive positions on the spot!”

As he said this, his reaction was already quite quick.

But it was still too late.

For amidst the dark woods, suddenly a series of blue-green electrical lights flickered on.

BOOM!!!

The air exploded violently, and visible arcs of lightning emerged from both sides of the forest, lashing out toward the supply convoy.

A series of dazzling electrical lights struck each astonished Mountain Trooper.

—— Crack, sizzle!

Instantly, the frontmost section of the supply convoy scattered as if struck by a lightning cannonball, with less severely injured personnel rolling in mud pits, charred black, but still managing to get up, struggling to understand what had just attacked them.

And those hit directly by the magnetic storm had already turned to charred corpses on the spot.

Humming— A series of blue-green electrical lights came to life, and towering shadows loomed in the misty rain, emitting a piercing sound of electric current.

These were robust Powered Armors, standing at about two-point-seven meters tall, wrapped in dark green armor plating, with two ‘I’-shaped Magnetic Storm Generators on each side of the body.

The pilots observed the outside world through a thick, diving helmet-like visor.

The blue-green lightning danced next to the generators, with dense rainwater causing the electricity to pour down on the ground like molten flows, igniting vast areas of electrified mist.

Then, several Powered Armors began their charge!
