Chapter 1349: Chapter 1351: Burst into Tears_1
Saintess Honglian’s sneer transformed into a malicious grin as if uttering those words brought her immense relief."Originally, you could have died swiftly, but I couldn’t bear to let you go, so I turned you into this, allowing you to cling desperately to life, lower than a dog and completely at my mercy. That thought greatly soothes me."
Saintess Honglian stepped forward, extending her slender, pale fingers, and suddenly wiped Jin Jing’s face, then lifted them to her eyes and laughed, "Ah, fresh blood, certainly not yours, did you just feast on humans again? How did it taste?"
She frowned, "It stinks of old men, doesn’t it? Weren’t you always the choosiest? How come you debase yourself like this now?"
"You think you’re something special just because we share the same mother, but do you even deserve to be my sister? To tell you the truth, I quite fancy that Lin Zhu. Thanks to her creating the opportunity, I could transform you into this perfect meat carcass, and then watch contentedly as you endure endless torture yet can’t die."
"You, you..." Jin Jing had always known that Saintess Honglian didn’t like her, but she hadn’t imagined such deep-seated hatred, deliberately making her like this.
"You’re the one who forced me into becoming this monster, I clearly didn’t have to end up this way!" Jin Jing’s whole body trembled, if she still had any blood, she would surely be seething to the point of bursting a vessel.
Saintess Honglian walked up to Jin Jing, her face mocking as she glanced at her legs, "I did ask you back then, whether you wanted your life or your legs, if you wanted to keep your legs you had to pay a price and endure pain, but you cried, refusing to be a cripple, insisting on saving your legs, have you forgotten?"
"But you never explained it clearly!" Jin Jing roared angrily.
Saintess Honglian seemed annoyed, formed a few hand seals, and said emotionlessly, "Get out, don’t show up in front of me unless necessary."
Indeed, Jin Jing left the room with an expressionless face, moving as if she were a puppet.
Saintess Honglian watched her leave with a cold laugh, "Idiot, she can’t even handle such a simple task, it’s a waste to use her as a puppet."
It took Jin Jing a good while outside the room to come back to her senses, but she wished she could remain as mindless as a puppet, as the wounds from her severed hand were excruciatingly painful.
Thinking of what Saintess Honglian had said to her, she ran furiously towards the front hall, determined to speak to her mother and to get her help.
"Diao Mo, hold your tongue now, you’re becoming as foolish as your daughter Jin Jing, with the situation having escalated to this point and the elders of the Holy Hall watching closely. Just hand over your duties to someone else and leave the City to look after your good-for-nothing husband," the great elder’s voice came from inside the room.
Jin Jing stopped in her tracks, why did the great elder also call her foolish, where had she been foolish? Both Saintess Honglian and the great elder looked down on her because of her Han father!
Her eyes turned red, and her expression twisted into one of ferocity, darkening to a pale green hue.
"Great elder, how can you say such things? You know I can’t bear the sight of Jin Wanliang, send me to accompany him is worse than killing me! And as for Jin Jing, a waste’s child is just as useless, she didn’t even manage to complete Saintess Honglian’s tasks, how can I leave peacefully now when that child Honglian needs my care?" The pitiful voice of Lady Diao Mo came from the room.
Outside, Jin Jing’s eyes had turned a deep red with anger. Why was her mother speaking about her like this? Wasn’t she the one her mother loved the most, and wasn’t it Saintess Honglian whom she hated for being born out of the great elder’s violence? Why did her mother call her the waste?
She could no longer contain her rage and, with a howling scream, she charged through the door and lunged at the great elder and Madam Diao Mo.
Although she was now short one hand, the nails of her other hand had grown exceptionally long. The tips were black, emitting a greenish glow. A scratch from such nails could almost certainly lead to a half-loss of life.
The great elder and Madam Diao Mo were greatly shocked and hastily dodged to either side. As Jin Jing’s claws continued to swipe at the great elder, he regained his senses and kicked her square in the chest. Despite her sturdy body, the great elder’s inner strength still managed to send her flying backward.
"Demon, you even dare to hurt us, you’re asking for death!" the great elder ground out through clenched teeth.
Madam Diao Mo’s complexion shifted. She knew that Jin Jing had heard their previous conversation, and a part of her heart softened momentarily, but upon seeing Jin Jing getting up and lunging at her like a monster, disgust still surfaced in her eyes. This woman was indeed as wasteful as Jin Wanliang.
Although Jin Jing was emotionally out of control, she retained a sliver of clarity until she saw the revulsion in her mother’s eyes. The last bit of her lucidity vanished. She exploded with madness and, like a crazed beast, pounced at Madam Diao Mo.
"Ah, you’ve gone mad, I am your mother, and you actually dare to strike me!" A long gash appeared on Madam Diao Mo’s arm, her sleeve torn, and blood flowed from beneath her delicate skin.
The sight of fresh blood incited Jin Jing further. She leaped forward, toppling Madam Diao Mo, and began to frantically gnaw at her arm like a wild beast.
Madam Diao Mo’s screams attracted many Holy Guards, and everyone was terrified by the scene. It took some time for them to react and try to pull Jin Jing away, but Jin Jing was frighteningly strong. For a moment, no one could separate her, and several chunks of flesh were bitten off Madam Diao Mo’s arm, causing her to pass out from the pain.
It was only when Saintess Honglian, alerted by the commotion, arrived that Jin Jing was restrained. Holding back her fury, she told the crowd, "Jin Jing’s father is sick with a strange illness, she’s distraught with worry. Both of them are mad like this. It’s fortunate they didn’t hurt any of you."
The Holy Guards, still shaken, were comforted by the saintess they idolized. Each of them became excited as if injected with chicken blood, and the monster-like image of Jin Jing was quickly forgotten.
"Alright, you may leave now. I’m going to bless Jin Jing and Madam Diao Mo, praying for their quick recovery," Honglian said to the crowd.
After the Holy Guards had left, the great elder, still in shock, pointed at the motionless Jin Jing and said, "She almost hurt me just now. Such a monster should be disposed of."
"Father, it was my negligence. I’ll discipline her well later. She still has some use to me, so let’s keep her around for a while longer," Honglian replied.
The great elder narrowed his eyes. "What, can’t bear to part with your own sister? I tell you, you can’t afford sentimentality in business, otherwise, you’ll never achieve greatness."
Honglian’s smile faded. "How could that be? If I couldn’t bear to part with her, I wouldn’t have turned her into this."
The great elder’s expression cleared slightly. He glanced at the unconscious Madam Diao Mo and said, "Treat your mother’s wounds, then send her out of the city with great fanfare, to Jin Wanliang’s place outside the city."
"Yes."
It was hard to say how much time had passed when Madam Diao Mo finally awoke, only to see her almost crippled left arm and burst into loud weeping...
