Chapter 93: Life Goes On

After Princess Margaux called Doctor Fey and checked Julia’s current condition, Elaina sighed in relief knowing that Julia was fine and survived. Doctor Fey also explained that it was a backlash damage she received after the barrier was destroyed which resulted in Julia getting wounded in the process. If Princess Margaux did not heal Julia, then Julia might be in grave danger.

Time passed after the event and Julia gradually recovered. Elaina’s parents were indeed deported alongside the Priest who got his arm severed in the process and the soldiers who were injured back to Luminiera Kingdom. Someone from the Luminiera Kingdom decided to talk with the Kingdom of Darcero to ensure the safety of the people as they are deported and to ensure that nothing goes wrong and also ensure that the Darcero Kingdom will not pursue any sort of reason that this was a sign that the Luminiera Kingdom is willing to wage war. In short, this is some sort of Peace Talks with negotiation on retrieving the hostages.

Princess Tabatha relayed this info to Elaina and the latter is relieved that there will be no more escalation of trouble in the process. After all, things like this are one of the main reasons that some kingdoms will wage war on one another. She was thankful that both kingdoms were not warmongers and preferred to be peaceful rather than to become hostile to one another.

But there is one thing that changed. Due to this event, Darcero Kingdom decided to ban entry from the people of Luminiera Kingdom for one year. No one from Luminiera Kingdom will be able to enter the Darcero Kingdom in any shape or form. Of course, only for just a year. Once a year passes by, this ban will be lifted. Many voiced their concerns over this, especially the merchants but no one is exempted from this rule so the merchants will have to use courier birds and wyverns to carry their goods back and forth for this matter.

They also started to ban the entry of any religious group of any kind to stop the spread of the influence of the church. They decided to ban all kinds of religious groups from entering to ensure that they were not prioritizing just the Church themselves but many knew already that the kingdom just didn’t want the Church to spread whatever teachings they did. The people also liked it as this would reduce the presence of the Church themselves.

As for Elaina, she is happy about this rule. Since her parents already know her location, that also means Alfred will eventually know this as well. Thankfully, due to this little ban, even Alfred will not be able to come and set foot in the Darcero Kingdom for a year. Even though it will be only for a year, it is also a good time for Elaina to safely continue her pregnancy without falling deep into stress due to Alfred. She didn’t know whether she would like to see Alfred once again but she hoped she will not.

With all of this news, Elaina can say that her life will go back to normal once more and she can now focus on developing her farm. In the first place, she just wanted to peacefully develop her farm and not engage in unnecessary drama but due to her past, those will not come so easily and she knows it.

A few weeks passed after all of this incident passed by. Julia recovered and the farm continues to grow. Elaina also decided to start to get addicted to fishing which is something that the Harvest Goddess likes since she now has a reason to get more fish. Elaina does continue to continue to take care of the crops, just much less now with the help of the Fey who are more than happy to take over the work.

The changes in Elaina’s body start to appear as well. Her belly is getting bigger now and she is now starting to have a hard time squatting to plant which is why she just started to hand over the planting the seeds to the Fey this time around. Although the bump in her belly is not yet that noticeable, Elaina can tell that it is changing now. She knows her body after all.

Her appetite starts to show changes as well. She was not a heavy eater before but now, she has started feeling hungry for quite some time even during her work hours which is why Elaina started to bring some jerky with her to eat during work to satisfy her craving and hunger.

"Is this how most pregnant women feel? I am still in the early stages of my pregnancy and things are already different than before," Elaina tilted her head thinking of all the changes in her body.

"Not too sure about that. I have no experience in pregnancy and I have not observed anyone pregnant before other than you so I can’t give you a definite answer. Why don’t you ask the bossman about it? Since he is a High Deity compared to me, he can meet the Goddess of Pregnancy and Fertility, maybe he can ask her about your condition or something," the Harvest Goddess suggested.

"[Even though we are both gods, that doesn’t mean I can freely disturb other gods from their work. And I am busy with my work at the moment as well so I don’t have the time to ask her about it.]" the God of Farming interjects, showing both Elaina and the Harvest Goddess his response.

"Meh, what a bummer. You are such a party pooper boss," the Harvest Goddess pouted as she munches on the boiled Hencluckle Egg that Elaina offered earlier to her.

"[At least I am working properly and is currently contributing to this world, unlike you who are just lazing around and continues to eat food even though you don’t really need to eat anything because you are also a god.]"

"Hey boss, I know you are my boss but that doesn’t mean I am just lazing around. This is what you call "conserving energy", I don’t need to expend every energy I have in one go. And I am free to do what I want to do once my job is over right?"

Elaina can tell that the God of Farming gave up reasoning with the Harvest Goddess regarding this matter so he just goes silent. The Harvest Goddess then turned to Elaina after the conversation with her boss.

"Well, since you are starting to have a harder time now, what are you going to do in the future? It will be hard to farm once your stomach grows big enough and it’s not like you can do anything about it."

"Right, I know the day will come when I will not be able to do any farming as much as I can but I already have planned on what to do while I am pregnant."

"Oh? Are you going to laze around as well?"

"No. But I will take easy tasks that don’t need much effort to do and will not make me do difficult poses just to do. And some of them are still related to farming."

"Oh?"

Elaina then pointed to the growing fruit tree that she planted a few days earlier.

"As you can see, these trees will bear fruit in the future. And since the current saplings I planted grow fast, by the end of summer, this tree will be fully grown and I will be expecting it to bear fruit this autumn soon."

"Then that means..."

"Yeah. Fruit trees will be what I will be focusing on for a while and relegate most of the plot work to the Feys for the time being. Since these fruit trees do not follow the same regular growth rate as normal trees, I can use this chance to create artisan products out of the fruits. And since that is the case, I will have other things to create that might catch the eye of the customers like candies, fruit wines, and other stuff."

The Harvest Goddess’s eyes lit up after hearing what Elaina said. "Did you just say candies and fruit wines?!"

"Eh?" Elaina was surprised.

"If that is your game in the future, then don’t mind if I help you with that. With my powers to accelerate the growth rate of the plants and to also create a temporary abundance in harvest, I can help you with this matter and bring you more products."

That’s when Elaina can easily tell what was on the Harvest Goddess’s mind.

"I see. While you do all of that, I will offer you some of the artisan products as an "offering" then, yes?"

"So, deal?"

"Heh," Elaina smiled and the two clasped their hands together.

"To a healthy partnership!"

While the two are already gearing up for future work, the God of Farming can only chuckle seeing the two so involved together.

"Guess I should also properly fine tune my work before I hand it over to Elaina. I am sure that she will find some use of it after I am done."
