Chapter 76: Bad News

Elaina was still very busy at her current work when her brother, Troy appeared, rushing over like he was being chased.

"Brother?" Elaina frowned as she had not seen her brother become this frantic before. He is so chill that anyone can say that he is passively being cool without any intention of doing so. So when Elaina saw him in that state, something must have happened.

"Elaina, this is not good news I will be bringing to you..."

"News? Is something happening?"

"Yeah."

"Alright, but let’s talk inside. Talking here in the heat is not ideal." She then turned around to the Feys and it seemed they understood her as they gave a sign for her to go. Nodding, Elaina went inside the house with her brother.

When they entered, Julia was surprised to see Troy suddenly enter as she didn’t expect him to visit all of a sudden. As for Princess Margaux, she is feeling too hot to even notice the new person who entered. Since Julia didn’t seem to be doing anything, she didn’t care, after all, spending energy while feeling the sweltering heat would just waste it more than spending it wisely.

Julia puts a bottle of water to Troy which the latter gulps without hesitation before he faces Elaina to talk about the topic he wants to discuss.

"Alright, first off, there is a reason why I couldn’t visit in the few days after my first visit."

"Oh yeah, I did wonder that since you already built a teleporter when you visited and said that you would visit time and time again to check up on me. So not seeing you for quite a while was honestly making me question your intentions a bit."

"Yeah, sorry about that but there was a reason I couldn’t even visit you during that time. When I returned after visiting you, the next day, our parents came to me and they are doing their best to find you."

Elaina’s face turned serious after hearing this. Now she has an idea why Troy didn’t visit her for a while.

"Yes, I think you guessed it, Elaina. I didn’t return for a while since I got busy trying to stall and delay the investigations that our parents are doing to find you. I even made many attempts to sabotage their investigations. I managed to succeed a few times but it seems our parents are more craftier than I thought they would be. After all, I didn’t expect them to be able to learn your location too soon. I tried my best, but I came out short."

Elaina patted her brother’s shoulder and smiled. "At least you tried your best, don’t worry about it."

Troy smiled but he shook his head. "Still, this isn’t great. Now that our parents learned of your location now, sooner or later, your husband will also find your location soon as well."

Elaina shook her head. "I doubt it. Knowing our parents, they would not tell this to the Emperor at all. They hate his guts. They only allowed me to get married to him so that they could get that little power of the monarchy extended to them. Since Alfred is afraid of them, I don’t see them getting along well. But I do agree that this isn’t a good thing. With them knowing my location now, they will try to drag me back again back to Luminiera Kingdom."

"I am sorry about this Elaina. I couldn’t even do such a simple task at stopping them from knowing your location.

"No, no. You did your best, it’s just that our parents have more capabilities and connections they can use to find me easily. But after hearing you warn me about this matter, then I now know they will be coming and I can at least somewhat prepare. When do you think they will arrive?"

"I don’t know. Maybe next week or maybe sooner. I don’t expect them to be coming in peace after all."

Elaina shook her head. She already knew that her parents would find her sooner or later. It just didn’t occur to Elaina it would be this soon. But Elaina is not afraid. Not one bit.

"Still, if they tried to drag me out of here, I will ensure that they will be wrong about trying to drag me back to that kingdom. I will remain here until I get to give birth. And I don’t intend to go back and return."

"What are you going to do Elaina? Are you finally going to reveal your strength to our parents?" Troy asked. He knows how strong his sister is but he doesn’t know to what extent her abilities are.

"If push turns to shove, I will make sure they will regret it. They might be my parents but they can’t make me force to do anything more than they should have done to me. I will make my own story and they cannot dictate what I want to do."

Princess Margaux who was listening on the side seems to have gotten curious enough that she decided to join in the conversation.

"Elaina-sis, can you tell me more about your parents? It seems that they are doing something bad for you to hate them."

"You are listening, Princess?" Elaina asked.

"Yeah. I got curious while eavesdropping. Sorry about that. But I just got totally curious and also confused as to why you two seemed to be not happy about your parents visiting. Aren’t parents supposed to care about their kids? At least that’s what Mother and Father usually do to me."

"Who is this Elaina?" Troy asked as he looked at Princess Margaux who then made a small gesture of greeting to Troy even though she was not wearing a dress.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce her to you, brother. This is Princess Margaux. She is the second princess and the third child of the Darcero Kingdom’s King and Queen. After certain incidents that happened last time, she decided to stay here for some time as an act of rebellion to some choice of what her parents wanted to do to her."

"So can I learn about your reason for hating your parents?" Princess Margaux asked."

"Haha, it’s not that big of a deal, Princess. We can even tell you why we have so much beef with them to the point that we would rather disrespect them rather than respect them despite being our parents."

"Ha, I agree with you, Sister. As much as they think for their good, it seems that they are more neglectful than they should have been."

Elaina then started to make a small flashback of the little things that their parents had done to them.

"As you can see, our parents are more of a controlling type of people than to be a supportive one. Aside from my other Sister who got the entire support because she was the youngest out of all of us, the two of us suffered from their control and we soon built up hate on them. You can say that it was petty of us, but it doesn’t matter since throughout our childhood, they started to dictate to us what we should do," Elaina started.

"Like what?" Princess Margaux asked.

"How about I start mine first? Since I am the eldest, having a chronological effect of events would be a better way of retelling things?" Troy volunteered.

"Well, go ahead. I think it will make sense much better since the transition of their attention from you to me would make more sense if you explained yours first."

He sighed and then started to begin.

"Alright, this all started back when I was still a little kid, perhaps much younger than you princess. It was during that time when I was given a choice to kill my little pet bird for a mistake that I didn’t make or for them to kill my pet bird themselves and let me eat its remains as a punishment."

Elaina sighed after hearing what Troy started to say. After all, this was just the beginning of what Troy experienced with their parents which caused him to develop some trauma of keeping pets that is still present till this very day.
