Chapter 472: Raiding Party is Being Raided

Shardu’s footsteps are silent, but his speed is top-notch that everyone who is on his back is holding tightly on his fur just to avoid getting carried by the wind current passing them as Shardu picks up speed. Elaina has already experienced Shardu’s speed back when she needed to stop the Eternal Winter from happening, and as a result of Shardu’s speed, Elaina has been able to tour all over Darcero Kingdom in a few hours and save Darcero Kingdom and perhaps even the whole world from having an Eternal Winter. Compared to the speed Shardu was doing before and now, the run he did back then was much faster than today; that doesn’t mean it was slow in comparison, just that Shardu is taking the speed a bit moderately to take directions from Gobruk and avoid missing the direction they are going.

Thanks to Shardu’s speed, they didn’t take even half an hour to arrive at their target destination. Of course, they didn’t stop too near the encampment of the enemies. The Greater Ogres would have easily spotted Shardu and perhaps even smelled them, especially since Gobruk is with them. With his Father being the leader of the Raiding team, he would be easily spotted in the process.

The group stopped not too far from the encampment, but good enough to have a vantage point on their location.

"Looks like their preparation are almost complete. They even have the raid carts ready, and their weapons seem to be also enhanced for the fight," Elaina said as she squints her eyes over at the camp. Aside from the shoddy camp, their Greater Ogres are more busy finalizing the final touches of their raid carts, the vehicles they will use to attack and raid the town. It is made of both wood and magic-reinforced iron, making it durable enough to defend from human attacks and defend the ogres from any attack.

Gobruk then points over to the largest Greater Ogre in the camp, and the one that seems to be issuing commands to the other Greater Ogres.

The King of the Forest, and the one who rules the raiding party, is huge, like really huge. If Gobruk is already big and towering, his father is thrice the size of Gobruk. He was even bigger than Shardu, which is going to be very dangerous. However, Elaina is confident of winning. The Greater Ogres are big, but Elaina has dealt with much bigger threats than before. The current king of the forest is nowhere near menacing enough for her.

The group waited for a few moments to find an open opportunity to attack, and it didn’t take them too long before they found a good opportunity to do so. Before Elaina and the group rush to attack, Shardu howls and his white fur starts to ignite into flames and his size becomes twice than before. He has grown significantly compared to before and has beaten the current King of the Forest in terms of size now.

The Greater Ogres stopped doing their work after hearing Shardu’s howl and covered their ears. It seems what Shardu did was use a howl that directly messes with the Greater Ogres in the camp. It was directed there, making the attack painful on the ears of the Greater Ogres while also keeping Gobruk safe in the process.

With the disoriented camp now in shambles after the howl, Shardu launches its attack while Elaina and the others follow suit.

The Greater Ogres were caught in surprise and had to scamper away as Shardu quickly smashed the Raid carts they had built meticulously. In just a few seconds, Shardu has reduced them to pieces. As for the other Greater Ogres, they have equipped their gear, but before they can deal with and fight Shardu, Arthur, Raye, and Adelaide quickly disable them and kill them.

Gobruk also helped out by dealing with finishers on the other Greater Ogres. Elaina thought that Gobruk would falter a few times, but Gobruk didn’t and executed the other Greater Ogres that he managed to take down.

The King of the Forest appeared and roared loudly as he had seen his hard work of preparation reduced to pieces by a giant wolf-cat creature and humans.

"RAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"

The King of the Forest pounded his chest hard like a gorilla and stomped his feet, which shook the surroundings. However, before he could finish what he was doing, Shardu roared in return and broke the pattern of the King of the Forest and causing the former to cover his ears in pain. Elaina opened her Almanac so that she could understand if Shardu ever said something about the King of the Forest.

"I AM THE KING OF THE FOREST! NO ONE WILL SOIL THIS PLACE AND BREAK IT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! NOT BY A BEAST LIKE YOU! BEASTS LIKE YOU ARE NOTHING TO ME!"

Shardu scoffs and spits out the armor remains of some Greater Ogre that Shardu ripped to shreds.

"[A king has to bear dignity to keep the safety of the forest and unite the forest, whether they are weak or strong. You focus too much on the strong and single race in the forest that you forgot the others at all, to the point that you are ruling an empty kingdom. In my eyes, you are just some phony King of the forest and nothing else.]"

Hearing that, the King of the Forest’s eyes lit up in bright red and charged to fight Shardu. Shardu didn’t fail to entertain the King of the Forest, and the two started a brawl. Using his size, the King of the Forest tried to topple and wrestle Shardu to submission, but Shardu is not that easy to choke and bring down.

Despite this, the King of the Forest did not stop and used his giant weapon to strike Shardu in rapid succession. Just by looking at the quick movements, Elaina can tell that she will have a hard time dealing with him if she is the one being targeted by the King of the Forest.

Those strikes would have been fatal and dangerously so if Shardu were not a former beast lord. Thanks to Shardu’s unique body, all those strikes ended up becoming dull and useless against Shardu. So, even if the King of Forest had managed to outdo everything just to take down Shardu, it is never enough to deal with and bring down the Former, but still the current Beast Lord.

Even if his strikes were useless, the King of the Forest didn’t stop attacking, annoying the hell out of Shardu. Before the King of the Forest can complete another set of repetitive strikes to Shardu, the latter opens his mouth and grabs a bite on his arm, which tightly grips the giant weapon and forcefully tears off his limb violently.

Looks like Shardu doesn’t need the help of Elaina at all. In fact, Elaina has been reduced to a bystander and onlooker instead of a backup.

With one strong bite, the King’s hand was torn off and Shardu violently spits it off of his mouth before mockingly snarling at the shaking King of the forest as they held their bleeding hand.

"[So, where is this power you are hiding, current King of the Forest? Come on, we still needed your answer after all.]" Shardu taunts the King of the Forest, even if the latter slowly finds out the difference of powers between the two.
