Chapter 327: First Strata Complete

Chapter 327: First Strata Complete

Despite powering a lot, the boss still didn’t end up winning against Elaina. It didn’t even have the chance to fight back. Elaina stares at the bull monster who is bleeding and breathing it’s final breath.

"Time to end this," Elaina readies her sword and stabs the heart of the bull monster, killing it and ending its miserable life. A few seconds later, its giant body slowly disintegrated, leaving behind a few items like its bull horn, the weapon it used, and a few items that Elaina recognized as accessories that the bull used on its body.

But because she was not interested in them, she immediately put every single item inside the bag and planned to sell them later on. Those things are useless for her and they are not part of the quests given by the gods. At least they can benefit other people than hoarding it themselves and not using it in the process.

Once the boss died, a big golden chest popped out in the middle of the room and the torches all over the arena lit up, giving light to the dark place.

Despite the chest being an obvious chest that she can open safely, she is still hesitant to open it and pokes it using her sword a few times to trigger any sort of trap. Thankfully, that wasn’t the main case, and it was safe, so she went ahead and opened the chest, revealing a glittering treasure content. Gold, accessories, potions, and the like, and even a few miscellaneous stuff are present on the chest. Loot that is more than enough for a group of adventurers to divide amongst them. But the only thing useful for Elaina here are the gold and the potions. The rest are something that Elaina has no use for.

Taking all of them and putting them inside the bag, the treasure chest disappeared and a glowing magic circle appeared alongside a staircase that seemed to lead to the next floor. But since Elaina had no compulsory need to head to the next floor, Elaina examined the magic circle instead. She might not be a magic user but Elaina can recognize those patterns as a teleportation magic circle. This means this is one of the choices the adventurers can get if they want to either return or proceed further.

But since she was too tired to do anything, Elaina didn’t bother to head to the next floor. Based on the time displayed on the almanac, it should be really late, so instead of pushing to the next level, Elaina decided to stop and step into the teleportation circle.

Of course, she has can still feel a feeling that she couldn’t explain. She thought it will disappear once the boss was slain but it wasn’t seem to be the case. As much as Elaina wanted to think what it was, she decided to not bother with it too much. After waiting in the middle of the magic circle, she was engulfed by a bright light, leaving behind whatever was observing her from afar.

...

...

...

The guards are starting to get worried about Elaina as it has been around 8 hours since she was inside. They know Elaina is strong but now that she hasn’t returned after quite some time, they are worried that Elaina might have gotten to a snag and is currently being attacked by monsters.

They even planned to ask a few of the veteran adventurers to check the labyrinth, even though that would be useless when a magic circle suddenly appeared in the middle of the four-season field. Seeing the teleporter, they sighed in relief, as that meant the farmer they were worried about was back.

"Damn, you are right, if she used the teleportation circle, that must mean she defeated the boss on the first strata all by herself and returned to tell the tale. Still, doing it solo was a suicidal act..." One of the guards shook his head as the guard who was overly worried about Elaina grinned.

"See? I was not lying. She can slay the beast by herself. I can say that she is not just flexing at this point but proving to everyone that it was nothing for her."

"That is still the definition of flexing, my dude."

...

...

...

"Oh wow, I felt a bit dizzy right there..." Elaina put her palm on her forehead in an attempt to balance herself from dizziness.

The guards immediately approached her, and the same guy who checked her permit was the first one to respond.

"You alright, Farmer?" he asked.

"Oh yeah, I just got dizzy from using that teleporter. Otherwise, I am fine."

"Since you used the teleporter, that must mean you have cleared the first strata. "

"Yeah. And although the enemies are weak, the boss should need a stronger barrier. No wonder that guy managed to break into the barrier. Still, as long as the barrier is erected, those monsters will not be passing anytime soon."

"Good to know. And since you killed the boss, the enemies will be less inside the labyrinth right now, "the guard said, sighing in relief.

"Is that how this place works?" Elaina asked.

"Not really. It’s just a rumor from the other adventurers. They said those who managed to clear and kill the boss, the following adventurers will see less monsters on their diving session, and the boss that should be present in the boss room is empty for a few days with only the teleportation circle and the staircase to the next strata being present."

Elaina nodded after learning the new information. So it is indeed true that the monster surge will lessen once the boss is killed and if they are hunted regularly.

Knowing this, she have an idea on how the labyrinth basically do it’s magic. This will be part of her regular schedules. She just needed to take note how frequent the boss respawn. Not only that but she will also plan on exploring the next strata. She will need to be sure of it so that the incident related to the boss monster escaping and destroying the plants in the four-seasons field will not happen again.

"Great haul, Sis. Although most of it are not useful, there are indeed a few stuff that I can use here for the process. I will take them and you can sell the rest, " Julia said as she checked the loot she brought back.

Julia and the witch is the one awake at the moment while the others have gone to sleep. The witch is currently doing some brainstorming and according to Julia, she is not meant to be disturbed while she is doing that as her train of thoughts will be interrupted in the process. Only Julia decided to check her haul and she have taken a few of those stuff that Elaina has no idea would be useful for alchemy and potion making.

"You sure? There are plenty more to choose from those..." Elaina inquired.

"No need, Sis. Most of them are not useful in the slightest. And besides, it would be more worth it if you sell them instead of giving them to me."

"Hmmm, true. Anyways, are the kids asleep?" Elaina asked.

"Yeah. Arthur was looking for you earlier. Thankfully, he didn’t cry while he was looking for you. Adelaide on the other hand seems to already know where you are and just went to sleep before her brother."

Elaina chuckled. Adelaide’s behavior is like a matured child that can understand things already. She is happy that she is much more mature than her age should be...yet she was also a bit sad ay how fast her kids are growing.

"I will bring the kids later back to my room."

"Alright Sis. Take a good rest, Sis. You needed a deep rest for a while since you seemed to have used up a lot of your energy from fighting enemies. Good night."

Elaina pat Julia’s head and smiled. "You too. Sleep well, alright? Don’t spend too much time staying up all night, alright?"

Julia only nodded though Elaina was not sure if she would follow her words. But it doesn’t matter, Julia knows what she is doing.

Putting her twins on their respective cribs, Elaina changed clothes and took a quick bath to remove the blood and grease in her body after her session to the labyrinth. Once she is fully refreshed, Elaina contacts the gods once more.

"Hello gods, are the communications still broken?" Elaina asked.

"[Not anymore, Elaina. The moment you left the labyrinth, the communications were restored to normal which made us think that your theory earlier seems to be connected a bit. Something in the labyrinth is capable of canceling whatever was being influenced by any god which would then disable their powers and whatever the benefits the gods offered to their people.]" the God of Farming explained.

"There is a big chance that was the main case?" Elaina asked.

"[Indeed. We asked the father of the Goddess of Taming and he replied that there must be some abyssal artifact present in the labyrinth as that artifact is the main reason for getting blocked out of communication.]"

"Abyssal artifacts?"

"[Artifacts planted by the creatures that dwell the abyss. Things that cancel the powers of us gods. One that causes various disasters and dangers. One might be present there in the labyrinth you are in with how things are happening.]"
