A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 302: Failing Miserably

Chapter 302: Failing Miserably

Freshness and Quality.

These two are the main things that the Market looks for in a product. Thanks to the previous leader which is the King of Darcero Kingdom, this policy persisted even when her first daughter, Princess Tabatha took over as the main head of the Market and prospered the business as the leading group to supply and buy the goods that the farmers needed. Thanks to this, the farmers can freely buy various supplies that they will need in their farm or ranch from various stores without worrying about getting scammed for the quality, while also being able to sell and supply the goods that the Market sells to the regular customers like the commoners and nobles.

Since freshness and quality matter, the higher the quality and the fresher the goods are delivered, the higher the prices the goods are sold, allowing them to earn more on what they previously used as capital for their business. Thanks to this, the farmers and ranchers who supply goods are quite happy and satisfied. If their goods fetch low prices, that must mean they did poorly or the goods are not fresh enough, allowing them to know what their goods are being treated as.

This policy and technique was something the Merchants that came from the Luminiera Kingdom realized.

Despite them doing business in the Darcero Kingdom, they have not done any selling on the Market as they have their own group which was the business and trading company that Elaina’s parents run. Because they are loyal to them, they didn’t use the Market and utilize them to their fullest potential. They only sell outside of the Market’s jurisdiction.

Because Luminiera Kingdom does not limit or even ban merchants who do not comply with the Market, these merchants gather around. Most of the time, these merchants gain customers by offering low prices compared to the market, which makes it an affordable choice for various consumers but in exchange, they also sacrifice the quality and freshness of what they buy. If they buy in the market, they can guarantee how fresh they are with a single glance.

Happiness.

That should be the mood of the Head Merchant after the trouble he is posing to the owner of the farm, which caused them to be banned alongside the others just because they hail from the Luminiera Kingdom. They knew the owner was the former empress of the kingdom, but so what? She was a former empress, and she no longer held a title that could boost herself. She is now a commoner with a farm to tend to.

But because they fail to consider how the market works, even though they have offered their goods in exchange for the goods that Elaina provide as a means to stop her supply from coming, it ended up as the butt of the joke as their goods ended up as a worse version of what Elaina would even supply. At first, they didn’t understand why the staff seemed to snicker every time they offered a bribe and their goods altogether until a few days later when they found that the crates they had been supplying to the Market containing the goods that were supposed to replace Elaina’s goods to be seen loaded and are fed to the pigs.

The merchants recognized the crates due to the exclusive trademark logo present on their crates and considering that the only people they shared these crates were the market, seeing them being disposed of by a farmer and seeing their produce being used as pig feed is something that they didn’t anticipate.

"Did that farmer’s goods used for feeding pigs?!" the Head Merchant angrily grits his teeth as he asks his secretary.

"No sir. According to the reports, her goods are one of the top sellers in the market and one of the well-sought products that many look for. Even those people who have only bought the leftovers can say that their produce is something that is worth the prize even if they are a bit of low quality.

"Then why the hell is our produce that should be used as replacement for those goods are being used as Pig food?! Do they really think we won’t notice when all of our goods have the logo of our merchant group?!"

His secretary couldn’t say anything and just looked away. He has no idea how to quell the anger of his boss. But just as he thought that his boss wouldn’t get angrier, he was mistaken when one informer appeared and talked to his boss.

"Head Merchant! I got some bad news and bigger bad news..."

"All bad news?! F*CK! What is it?! I don’t care what kind of bad news it is!"

"Well, the bad news is that it seems that the produce we distributed to the Market was marketed and sold there as "Pig food" and "Rejects", allowing the farmers and ranchers who are raising some pigs to buy a bulk of our products. Not only that but those products are sold much cheaper than we initially mentioned their prices should be and said that those are the standards of those goods we delivered."

"What the hell?! Do they treat our goods as pig food?! How...how dare they do this! And we even pay them big money just to do the job and yet they didn’t even fulfill our request, they are even humiliating us with this?!" the Head Merchant’s veins seemed to start popping out of his forehead as he held back his anger.

"...And for the very bad news..."

"Huh? You mean, that was only the bad news?! That wasn’t the combination of the bad and very bad news?!"

"Yes, boss. There is still bad news left behind."

"F*CK! ALRIGHT! BRING IT ON!"

"According to my intel, it seems that the goods of that farmer remained on sale and are still considered as the best goods available. In short, all of the money that we used for bribery and all of the goods we used were wasted."

"This...this isn’t going to happen for us! I won’t just sit still and let them just humiliate us like this! I will be complaining and threaten to sue them! Let’s see them scramble for a way to escape on this one! Secretary! Prepare the carriage! I will be personally visiting the Market’s headquarters!"

The head merchant left his seat and was followed by the tired secretary and the informant who followed closely behind. None of them noticed the extra person listening to their conversation.

"Interesting. And here I thought those guys would mutter nonsense here and there. It was great to see they are willing to take action and even plan to sue the Market. But still, those are pretty laughable decisions. Good luck to them winning, I guess. Anyways, time to report this to her Highness."

After his internal monologue to himself, he slowly faded into the darkness until he disappeared from that room.

...

Princess Tabatha continued to organize the jobs at the market with the new influx of goods being released and thanks to a certain group, she got busier so that she could get rid of their products as soon as possible before they started rotting which they do already especially the goods that are underneath the crates, making those food harmful for human consumption.

It was not meant to shame those people who bribed them on why the Market treated their goods as pig feed, it was because of how bad the quality and the freshness of those goods were. Most of the goods are either ready to rot in a few days or are already rotten but are covered with a bit of fresher goods at the top. And since the Market caters more to fresh goods, goods that are about to rot are all being sold as feed or are sent to compost factories to be broken down in machines and used as fertilizers or compost components.

Still, Princess Tabatha couldn’t believe that those merchants had the gal to even try to upstage the goods of Elaina only for Elaina to beat them without trying too much. It was like they were trying so hard to sow some chaos only to fail to do so.

"By now, those guys should be seeing those farmers who are carrying their crates to be used for feeding the pigs. My prediction would be that they are going to start whining about their wasted money and stuff and they are going to complain straight to me, I guess."

"I have returned boss, and I just overheard you just now. It seems you have partially guessed what they are about to do," the one who infiltrated earlier was revealed to be a Shadow Ops tasked with collecting intel.

"Seeing you leave means they are already coming to our main headquarters to start complaining, yes?" Princess Tabatha sat down on her chair with her legs crossed together.

"Alright. Guess it’s time to entertain these people now," Princess Tabatha smiled while hiding her sinister intentions.
