Chapter 290: The Blessed Tool

Since Elaina collapsed from fatigue, the Harvest Goddess inspected the Cursed Hoe. It is glowing brightly that even the Goddess is intimidated to check on it. However, the Harvest Goddess did not dare to pick it up. Knowing the effects of the cursed tool after witnessing it firsthand and listening to Elaina explain it’s effects, she didn’t to be the next one who will be using it again and again and collapse in the processs just to remove it.

She poked it a few times and despite the bright light coming from it like a light bulb connecting itself from the socket, she poked it hard to ensure that it wasn’t just a fluke that it started releasing bright light.

"What is causing this to light up all of a sudden? Don’t tell me it was currently sucking the life force of the Farmer?!" the Harvest Goddess is now having wild assumptions while looking worried at Elaina who remained collapsed on the ground.

"Ugh, it doesn’t matter. I need to inform the girls about Elaina so that they can carry her inside and let her rest there. Since the farmer is no longer holding the hoe, it seems that the curse that was stuck in her hand before has finally disappeared. It’s best they get her far from it as soon as possible before the curse returns."

She quickly head inside and informed the girls to carry Elaina. But because she immediately left after checking the situation, she didn’t see the changes that have occurred on the hoe that was coated in black before.

"Ugh... My head..." Elaina slowly opens her eyes as she felt groggy and dizzy.

"Miss Elaina! You are awake!" the voice of Princess Margaux welcomed Elaina’s ears as she slowly gather her bearings.

"Where am I?" Elaina asked as she slowly got up from where she was lying from. She soon realized she was lying in her bed.

"We carried you here after the Harvest Goddess informed us you collapsed on the farm. Miss Elaina, you pushed yourself too hard! Miss Julia is so worried about your condition!" Princess Margaux wanted to scold Elaina on her recklessness but didn’t push on to it.

"Where is Julia?"

"She is currently feeding your twins at the moment, Miss Elaina. After she made sure that you are fine and is just sleeping peacefully, she left you to me to take care of the two who are already asking for dinner."

"Dinner? Wait...how long was I out for?" Elaina quickly stands up from the bed.

"Around 3 hours, Miss Elaina. You just woke up in time for dinner."

Hearing that, Elaina signed in relief. She thought she has been asleep for quite a while and was about to go out and ask Julia what happened. Realizing that she only passed out for a few hours, she is not worried.

That is when she also realized one thing that has been missing since earlier. She woke up just now and her hand seems to be empty at the moment. At first, she didn’t remember about it but she soon realized that she shouldn’t have an empty hand in the first place since she was cursed.

"Wait a minute... Did the Cursed tool in my hand has finally been removed?"

When Elaina mentioned the cursed tool, Princess Margaux immediately got excited.

"Yes! After you collapsed, the Harvest Goddess asked for our help and when we got out, you are already from the effects of the cursed tool and is no longer holding it anymore. The tool is still on the field where you collapsed as we didn’t dare to hold it just yet in case it is still cursed."

Elaina shakes her two hands, making sure her senses in her hands have returned and no longer stuck to the feeling of keeping hold of something.

"I needed to get the tool back in case it is still cursed and make sure that no one will become it’s next victim."

"I will lead the way since I still remember where it was. It is dark outside already so having my light magic would help seeing things around the area."

The two left the room and soon was greeted by Julia still feeding the twins with baby food.

"Sis! You are awake! Ugh, you shouldn’t scare me like that! I thought that you have succumbed from the curse all of a sudden!" Julia signed in relief after seeing Elaina now okay without any signs she is in bad shape.

"Sorry about that, Julia. Rest assured I am okay. The cursed tool wouldn’t have that kind of effect."

Julia noticed that Elaina seems to be about to go outside with Princess Margaux preparing an illumination spell.

"Sis, don’t tell me you are going to fetch the cursed tool once more?"

"Just making sure. Besides, now that I have removed it from my hands, it is no longer a cursed tool for sure. I just needed to make sure that no one else will pick it up mistakenly and have them suffer the same effects as I did."

Although Julia is hesitant to let Elaina fetch it, she nodded and agreed on Elaina’s notion. "You are right. Leaving that there would just be inviting trouble. No one else should suffer the same fate as you did from that tool. It is better to keep it somewhere safe."

Since Julia is still feeding the twins, she gave Princess Margaux the task of watching Elaina’s actions and making sure she isn’t doing anything that would cause more problems.

Elaina and Princess Margaux then head over to where she collapsed earlier and soon spotted the cursed tool. They didn’t even need to have the help of the illumination magic that Princess Margaux cast to see the tool resting on the ground. They can see it clearly even through the dark night.

"It- it is glowing..." Elaina felt awe after seeing the faint glow coming from the cursed tool. It was a soft light that doesn’t come off as too bright nor too dim in the eyes.

"Miss Elaina... it must be glowing after getting g it’s curse lifted! I heard from my sister before that once a curse was lifted from an object, that object would produce a bright light upon purification before slowly dimming and giving off a soft light around it, signifying it is now free from the curse. Seeing that it is happening on this tool, it must be experiencing the same thing!"

Elaina nodded, getting excited from the prospect of using a blessed tool now that it has been purified. However, she held herself back and shook her head."

"Not yet. Since it just happened earlier, we first need to secure the tool and make sure that no one else will be holding it for the time being. It might have it’s curse lifted but we can’t be too sure."

Princess Margaux nodded and with her help, the two secured the hoe to a secure box where no one else will touch just yet. They made sure to transfer the hoe without touching it by using different means to put it inside the box. It was hard but they managed.

"Alright, with this secured, we can test it out tomorrow. I can’t afford to make the same mistake twice so I will make ample preparations for tomorrow before we fully test it out."

Elaina might look a bit paranoid with her decision but she has to make sure that nothing bad will happen in the first place. She just didn’t want to experience holding it again with the restrictions in place.

The next day, the girls are now gathered around the hoe that is currently resting on the box since last night. Princess Margaux is curious on the hoe so she wanted to watch, Julia is watching Elaina in case the curse reactivates, while the Harvesy Goddess is there to spectate and see something interesting.

"Sis, are you sure you have done all of what you needed to do? Have you done ample preparations before this? Is everything in order?" Julia asked, making sure Elaina didn’t forget anything.

"Yes. Should be good to go once more. I made sure that I am not just going to hold it haphazardly and get stuck on the curse once more."

After making sure everything is okay, Elaina stares at the hoe before her. It’s appearance have changed drastically since last night. Before, it was pitch black and it looks like it has been doused with black paint for it to remain black in all areas. But now, it looks like a regular hoe with a faint blue hue of aura floating around it. Showing no signs of its previous color.

Although nervous, she slowly reach out to the hoe and slowly touch the hoe. When her skin touch it, nothing happened. Seeing no reaction, Elaina decided to grab a hold of its handle and pick it up outside the box.

The heavy feeling that she once felt from the tool is gone and she can feel the ease in her hands. Then, she tried to drop it to the ground. If it is still cursed, the tool will not drop off no matter what.

Slowly opening her palms, they watch the hoe slowly fall from her hands, landing on the ground with a dull thud. With this, the rest has concluded.

"The curse has finally been lifted!"
