Chapter 276: Invitation to the Castle Dungeon

"Is it about my parents’ misdeeds?" Elaina guessed.

"Yes. You guessed it correctly, Master. Although it is not necessary for you to be there personally, the King and Queen wanted to let you meet them again and talk to them so that they can get information regarding their motives. Since they know that you are now against your family and you are one of the people who agreed that they will be put to prison and go to a trial, they also know that you will not take their side in any way, shape, or form."

Elaina chuckled. "They are that confident huh? Though what they said is indeed true. I am already sick and tired of their actions and their constant ways of harming me or my children. If they don’t treat us as part of their family because of some stupid beliefs, then there is no need for me to treat them as a family either."

"I agree. This is why it is weird that during one of the interrogations, they are calling for you and are vouching that you will be going to answer their call. Since their appeal to the Kingdom of Luminiera did not get any sort of response from the other side, it seems their attention is now on you."

The reveal is just shameless and Elaina can’t help but shake her head in disappointment. I know they are some of the worst people that one could ever know but to ask for help to the person they are actively trying to destroy? They are now desperate. Fine, I will see them. When can I visit?"

"Tomorrow since right now, another round of investigation is being done and it is currently being done by your Grandmother and Grandfather, Master."

"Can I bring my Brother as well? He might also be able to contribute to the investigations as well if he visits with me," Elaina asked for permission.

"Yes, Master. Father also allows the involvement of your brother as well since both of you are their children, they are allowed to get a visit by their children as well. Feel free to invite him tomorrow and he will be coming with us to the castle tomorrow."

After their discussions, Elaina welcomed Princess Margaux once again and helped carry her luggage back to her room. While they are currently heading to her room, Princess Margaux asks Elaina a question.

"I heard you are one of the people who apprehended your parents, Miss Elaina. Did they really want to harm people or did they accidentally set off those explosives?"

Elaina shook her head. "There is no way that was accidental. A few of their companion soldiers were seen throwing those explosives and we caught them red-handed trying to throw those explosives to us. I don’t think that was an accidental throw or anything."

"Well, the investigators in the castle conducted an investigation and one of the soldiers who were captured has no traces that he is involved in the process. Not only that but he has some wounds in his body and he is suffering from some sort of paralysis."

"That soldier might have been given an order by my parents about their plan. Might be because my parents talk in cryptic manner at times that this soldier might have realized the plan the moment they were about to commit the crime and decided to back out and leave, only for them to attack him and get him killed. Seeing that he was only paralyzed and slightly injured, he was lucky he remained alive even after that," Elaina deduced. Considering that her parents are quite violent, Elaina already knew that they were the ones who did the trick, and the unlucky soldier was caught as well.

"That’s good to know, Miss Elaina. I will inform my sister about that person. The soldiers are even reluctant to torture him since he was already suffering and crying while he was there. He even confessed without question when he was asked. If what you theorized is true, then he is partially innocent and would only suffer the punishment of entering the kingdom during the ban."

Elaina might not have strong attachments to the kingdom she was once the empress but that doesn’t mean she didn’t care about the people there. She can also tell that the soldier came because of the big pay without knowing what the job entails. And when he knew it, he is quick to turn tail which ended him getting paralyzed and almost killed. If the situation in Luminiera Kingdom is bad, then getting money is a desperate move for the soldier but he still betrayed them meaning, he didn’t want to soil his hands with the lives of the innocent people he was about to harm.

After settling Princess Margaux’s luggage, Elaina continued to finish her work on the farm before returning to take care of her twins. With Adelaide doing advanced learning, Elaina decided to let her learn more, help with her walking practice, and start teaching her words as well. As for Arthur, she allowed the young boy to practice crawling and taught him some words, especially the word "Mama." He might not be the same as her sister, but that doesn’t mean he will be disregarded, he will just undertake the normal learning curve a kid usually takes.

Around the afternoon, Jacob is finally done with his work for the barn. Since he started late due to the repairs he had to do around the house’s damages, he was stuck at work for a whole week so Elaina gave him extra payment for doing so, only for the guy to return the excess money and said that the money he was getting is a normal rate and she doesn’t need to pay extra.

The barn is big. Spacious and can house the Wild Cows without any problem with their size and getting cramped. Not only that, but it was also pretty spacious that additional places for other animals can also be added there like pigs, sheep, and goats.

Like the Chicken coop, Jacob installed some mechanism that allows the automatic clean up of any droppings that the animals inside will release. A heater is also installed for the days when cold weather affects the animals. Not only that but if Elaina wanted to expand the barn again, the barn could still be upgraded and expansion is within the design of the barn. Overall, a big success of a project, and Elaina can now sigh in relief that the Wild Cows do not need to stay outside anymore. They can still be put outside for pastures but she can now rest assured that these cows will no longer need to suffer the cold weather and rains. Money well spent.

With the help of Curaj, the Wild Cows are now going to be settled and Elaina will now be able to secure more animals in the future. Knowing the Goddess of Taming, she will ask Elaina to tame some monsters that look like pigs or sheep and she will need to prepare for it.

In the evening, Troy is finally going home with his buddies after their work and before he returns home, Elaina pulls him over to discuss the situation, especially the invitation.

"Tomorrow? I see. And they are asking for you for help now is it?" Troy chuckled.

"Possibly. There is no way they will just ask me to say sorry. I know our parents and they are not like that."

"Indeed. But is it even necessary for me to be there?" Troy asked.

"Not really. But it would probably help a bit for me to bear myself from lashing out at them," Elaina explained.

Hearing this, Troy started to laugh. "Hahahaha! And here I thought you thought of my opinion regarding them getting caught for their crimes."

"Do you even care about them though?" Elaina asked.

"Nope." Troy quickly answered without a second of hesitation.

"See? So why would I invite you there for the sake of having you have a discussion with our parents? I can tell you don’t want to be there but I am asking for a favor so that I can at least hold myself back. It would be really hard for me to keep myself calm if I am going to face them tomorrow and I want someone who can stop me from lashing out."

Troy shook his head with a grin. "Honestly, I wasn’t expecting this, Elaina. Although I hate their mugs, I can at least offer my help this time. It would spell trouble if you started to attack them there so having me to hold you back should be necessary. Alright, I agree with you. But be sure to not stress yourself too much alright? And please, if you are about to start lashing them out, please don’t."

Elaina sighed in relief. Now that Troy has confirmed that he will be joining to help out tomorrow, their invitation to the castle’s dungeon will now be ready to be used for tomorrow. And she hopes that she doesn’t do anything really bad overthere.
