Chapter 238: Back to the Mines

The excursion that Elaina did with the Second Princess was fruitful. Not only did they secure the four locations for the saplings to grow, but they also brought back home many carcasses to be butchered and dismantled. These kept Elaina and the girls busy until the evening when they finally finished everything.

As for the next morning, Elaina is once again preparing for the second task at hand. And that is to gather Mana stones. But first, she has to ensure she gets to register as an adventurer to be able to enter the dungeons and labyrinth. She can handle the labyrinth and dungeons just fine but she will still need some identification to properly explore. Having only the registration that her grandfather gave to her to access the Dungeon farm is a different case.

Like always, before Elaina left for her task, she gave the task to Julia and the others to babysit her twins while she was not yet back. As much as she wanted to relax and have her time spent with her twins, she had to do this stuff to ensure that things were not going to be a big trouble.

"I am sorry for pushing all my tasks to you, Julia. It’s just that I am too busy solving all this stuff that would be too dangerous for me to bring the kids with me."

"No worries, Sis. It’s not like you are disregarding them completely. You are taking care of them at night once you are home. And besides, I am not busy so I am going to be tasked to take this job."

"Thanks for understanding, Julia. Anyways, is everything fine? Did my milk already run out or anything? Diapers? Needs for the babies? I will take care of them before I leave."

"All good. The breastmilk that we have stored in a cold temperature is preserved properly and with the two being quite fast at consuming them, we don’t need to worry about spoiled milk. And you keep the supply in case you don’t come back in a day and return only at night. Everything is all fine and dandy, you will not be worried."

Hearing that, Elaina smiled and nodded.

"That’s good to hear. Anyway, today, I might arrive later than usual. Make sure they are properly fed, alright? Make them burp every time they are done with their milk."

"Yes, Sis."

Once she has finished talking to Julia, Elaina’s first destination should be to the Adventurer’s Guild and register herself as an adventurer to ensure that she will be able to enter the labyrinth...until she remembered something that will lessen her hassle from this signing up with the adventurer’s guild. Something that no one has ever learned just yet aside from her.

...

...

...

After making sure no one was around, Elaina headed over to the mines. During her second visit, she learned about the peculiarities that the mines have while she was mining stuff.

One of them is that it is capable of spawning monsters. Something that regular mines should not be capable of doing the second one is that time flows slowly in this area which will allow her to do multiple runs on this place and kill monsters, gather mana stones from them, and gain a substantial amount without the need of her wasting her time to enter the labyrinth where time flows fine.

If Elaina had known that she would need the mana stones with her quest, she shouldn’t have sold most of them before. Too bad that she has already cashed them in in. However, having this knowledge alone is enough for Elaina to know that monsters do drop the mana stones she needs here.

Before entering, Elaina double-checked her supplies. Spare torches, matches, potions, medicines, knives, a hammer, a pickaxe, food, and her storage bag. Everything is ready to go.

"Alright, let’s get started."

...

...

The same musty smell of metal and iron lingers on Elaina’s nose as she enters the spacious first floor where the time would start to stop. Everything remained as it was before when she left. The only difference now though is that the elevator is now functional.

However, Elaina is not in a rush to head to level 5 immediately so after she is sure that the elevator works, Elaina descends the ladder to get to level 2 as she can’t access level 2 with the elevator. It can only access the level 1 and level 5 at the moment.

The second floor’s layout was different than what she remembered, making Elaina surprised.

’The layouts of this place change?’

She thought that the place remained the same, but it seems now that she has seen the changes, it seems things are different than she thought. All of what she remembered before will not be useful at all.

"It doesn’t matter. It’s not like the change is so big and different."

Elaina is correct. Despite the changes, it was so small that there were only minor things here and there that she would be nitpicking. Still, the second level is currently devoid of monsters so far.

"Guess I have to descend."

Descending to the third floor, the previously overrun area full of slime is now a normal floor. Signs of it being overrun are not present at all, which means it also changed. But despite the changes, the third floor is the starting area where the monsters start to appear.

"Slimes!" Elaina spotted a few not too far from her locations. They had not noticed her just yet so she managed to get close. Before the slimes could even react, Elaina immediately diced through their cores, destroying them and dropping their loot.

With Elaina’s quick extermination, the whole of floor 3 is cleared without much problem. She also got a substantial harvest of magic stones after defeating the slimes so it isn’t a big loss either.

"Alright. Great one. But I needed more."

Because Elaina needed more, she decided that she have to descend and further discover the depths of the mines. She doesn’t know how deep the mines are, right now. But now, it is time for her to see and try to reach the bottom if there ever was a bottom in this mine.
