A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods -
Chapter 237: Final Location
Chapter 237: Final Location
Even after leaving the third area, Elaina is still not devoid of the worries but who wouldn’t after witnessing the Snow Men themselves? And with those igloos bringing the danger further, more Snow Men are spawned. Leaving them alone will spell trouble and Elaina doesn’t want that to happen.
However, dealing with all of them and finding them is another big job altogether and Elaina is not going to do it. After all, she is just a regular farmer with an occasional usage of sword as a weapon but other than that, she isn’t that much compared to real adventurers who make a living risking their lives to deal with monsters.
Right now, that is Elaina’s least of concerns.
The imminent arrival of the Ice Lord will come any day now and she has to ensure the plan works. Right now, they are currently heading toward the final location which would become the area where the last sapling will be growing until the faithful day of the Ice Lord’s arrival, which Elaina prayed every day to be just a minor mishap and not something that the gods keep on saying as a big catastrophe or something.
"Miss Elaina, let me ask something. Forgive me if I am intruding on the privacy...but..."
Elaina looked at Princess Margaux who was riding Zaza’s back as they headed over to the last location. From the looks of it, she can no longer hold back her curiosity about why she is planting the trees. It’s not a big secret, to be honest, so she decided to tell her about it.
"You mean...about these tree saplings I am planting?"
Princess Margaux earnestly nodded.
"Haha, you should have asked earlier. To be honest, it’s not a big secret so you would have known this earlier if you just asked especially when those saplings have shone brightly every time I finish planting them."
"It’s not a secret?" Princess Margaux was surprised.
"Nope. If it was a secret, I would have worked on this alone without letting you come with me on this task. But honestly, this is not a big secret. But if you heard the reason, everyone will react differently."
"I think it is alright, Miss Elaina. Seeing those saplings glow and have some weird energy with them, I can tell they are not just ordinary saplings you are planting."
As they are speaking, they have arrived over at the last location. A location that is currently situated near a big lake. Elaina has seen the lake over the map many times but seeing how big it is, even Elaina is quite surprised when they arrive near it. It is near a village that regularly uses the big lake as an area to fish to sell. Most people living in that village rely on the lake itself to survive.
But since the lake is currently frozen right now, most of the people are instead, doing the so-called Ice Fishing Hole. Although it is not recommended, to see multiple holes over the ice, Elaina can tell that these people are used to it and are taking advantage of the ice to not use their boats and just walk over it.
However, they don’t have business over at the lake and their main point of business there is the location where Elaina will be planting over the tree without it being disturbed in any way.
The location is still near the lake, but a bit farther than from the lake and the people from the fishing village will not even notice the tree will be growing over at the area.
"Alright, Princess. Wanna know why I came around the whole Darcero Kingdom just to plant these saplings?"
"Of course. But why though? What is the main reason?"
"Well, these saplings are special. But not because they glow or anything, it was beyond that. Remember the topic about the Ice Lord?"
"Uh-huh. I don’t who he was actually, but I heard he was a pretty big deal after he got sealed," Princess Margaux nodded along.
"Right. Well, he escaped and now preparing to do something. Have you ever wondered how it feels if the world will only have one season and that season happened to be winter?"
"All year long?"
"Yep."
"Terrible. What about spring, summer and autumn? Winter is nice and a good change of scenery and all, but it should end and not last long."
"That’s the bad part about the ice lord. He plans to make the world a winter paradise and now he is powering himself up."
"Okay...but how does that even relate to these tree saplings you are planting?"
"These trees were going to be used as a way to defeat the ice lord once he starts to appear. He is likely to appear around the Darcero Kingdom’s territory as his first area to freeze over. Although I don’t know how these trees will work against the guy who can freeze anything, these saplings will need magic stones regularly as a way to store power on them and they will grow as something that will protect us in time the Ice Lord will appear."
"Is this part of the blessings that you received from the god of farming, Miss Elaina?" Princess Margaux asked.
"Indeed. Which is why I will need to make these jobs be fulfilled so that we remain safe until his arrival."
Princess Margaux nodded. After knowing the gravity of Elaina’s task, she now know why Elaina is doing this. She is using her own time to ensure that the rumored enemy will not do anything.
"Alright. Everything is ready to be dug out," Elaina wiped off her sweat as she finished clearing all of the snow piled around the area.
"Just like before, this area is full of mana as well, Miss Elaina. I don’t know how the mana works with the trees but with this much mana in the surroundings, I can tell that these trees will be growing quite well."
Elaina nodded. Hopeful as well that the trees will work and take effect soon enough.
Using her shovel, she removed the healthy soil and quickly made a hole big enough for the sapling. Before planting it, she put the final fertilizer she had inside the hole before placing the sapling. She then proceeds to cover it with soil and like before, it glows brightly. Elaina was not surprised in any way but as soon as she was done planting it, a huge faint light shot up in the sky. Not only that but the previous locations that they stopped by earlier also had a light shooting up in the sky. It was like a beacon or something.
"Are you seeing what I am seeing Princess?" Elaina asked as she noticed that Princess Margaux seemed to be unaware of the spectacle.
"Huh?" Princess Margaux looks clueless.
"Nothing," Elaina glanced over at those areas and she was sure that those were indeed the locations where she planted the saplings. Now, those things are glowing but she is the only one who can see what is happening.
"[Don’t worry about those beacons of light, Elaina. Those are lights that only you can see. It was designed so you will know how strong the trees’ powers are. The bigger the beam of light appears in your eyes, the stronger they will become. And the stronger they are, the more they can help out in defeating the Ice Lord.]"
Learning the situation, Elaina nodded in response. The first step of the plan is done. It was almost noon and Elaina needed to return home to breastfeed her babies soon.
"We are done for today, Princess. Let’s go back home."
Although Elaina still has no idea how these trees will work, she will soon know about them and will be grateful on her hard work.
