Chapter 233: Fighting by Planting

Due to the words of the Goddess of Medicine, the God of Farming is forced to devise a plan without letting Elaina fall in harm’s way, or undertake the path of a godslayer.

"[The Ice Lord will not be functional for a while based on the human Duke’s words alone. If the Ice Lord just recently escaped from the seal, then that means he is still trying to recover his strength at the moment. It will not be instantaneous which means we still have some leeway time before the big bad thing will happen. I will be making some stuff at the moment that will help out in this project. And you gods who know this information, you also help me in this project. Do not tell the other oblivious gods about this matter. We need to keep the matter about the Ice Lord escaping a secret so that they won’t panic and be afraid.]"

"[Does that include me as well?]" the Goddess of Medicine asked.

"[Naturally. You are the one who suggested that Elaina will become a Godslayer. You need to help me to ensure that I am not going to be doing something wrong in this one. Out of all of us, you might be the one who is more bloodthirsty to beat up the Ice Lord so it is also natural that you will be included in this project.]"

"How long do you think I will have to wait?" Elaina asked.

"[Not too long, Elaina. Around 2 to 3 days at most. We gods have work to do, so today, we will begin. And Elaina, if you have something to talk to us about, wait until the work is done. We will not be able to speak while we are working today until the next few days.]"

Elaina mentally took note of that and nodded. After their conversation, the gods went offline and stopped talking altogether. As for Elaina, she also has stuff to do as well.

Despite the Ice Lord going to start his dream, even Elaina does not want that dream to happen. If it happens, her farm will stop functioning, she can’t plant anymore, her plans for the next season will be foiled, and her plans once her kids grow up.

In short, she does not want her money-making business to stop just because someone who is known to be the Ice Lord decided to fulfill his dream. If he wanted to fulfill his dream, he should do it without dragging other people with it.

Her abilities are nowhere near before her pregnancy and she has yet to fully recover from that. She is still strong but still not enough, to say the least. If she is going to battle an enemy akin to a god, then she is also going to ensure that she will be strong enough to do that kind of feat.

Since this winter she will have little time to work on the farm and she has limited work at the moment, perhaps a focus on training should work.

Only a day has passed and the frostbite injury healed properly. If not for the magic healing that her grandma did after they returned from the survey they did, then the frostbite would take some time to recover.

With her body back to normal once again, Elaina started to do some training herself to recover from her previous physique. All of the fat that she had slowly accumulated during her pregnancy has finally disappeared over time, allowing Elaina to slowly recover her previous movements with just a single day of training.

Although she is not sure what the gods are currently cooking to help her get rid of the Ice Lord for good, she is still making sure her skills are still on par or even greater than before as it will still help her with the farm, hunting and guarding her home from intruders even if the work being the done by the gods does not involve any fighting.

Duke Darcy also visits from time to time to help guard the vicinity as well. However, it seems that he is using this excuse to just have a good chat with Elaina who does not mind his company.

And just like that, 3 days eventually passed by and the gods finally contacted her in the afternoon on the third day since they started.

"[Elaina, we have finally finished the stuff we needed so that we can fully stop the Ice Lord from manifesting and performing his plan to make an Ice Paradise.]"

"There’s no way we can call it a paradise if everything is frozen in ice," Elaina casually commented as she entered her room to focus on speaking with the gods.

"[Haha, you have a point there. Anyways, the plan will rely on you to fully work on this one.]"

"Alright. I am ready. What do I need to do? I have honed my blade to ensure that I will get to prepare with the Ice Lord this time around."

"[That’s great Elaina! But your god here is pretty generous enough to make a plan that will stop you from fighting at all. Instead, he incorporated this plan into farming.]" the Goddess of Taming revealed.

"Farming? How does that even work?" Elaina frowned. This is the first time she has heard of such a thing. Fighting an enemy by farming.

"[Listen well, you will have to plant some trees and let them grow into full-fledged trees before the Ice Lord fully recovers. They will be the key to defeating the Ice Lord.]"

"Trees? But trees don’t grow that fast though. Even the fertilizer that the Harvest Goddess gives to me doesn’t even allow me to grow a tree immediately without waiting for a few months."

"[These trees are special. Although they are trees, they are quick to grow and become trees. They grow within weeks and will become full-fledged adults after two weeks. And with the fertilizer added, it will shorten its duration of growth further. I wanted to make a seed that would grow instantaneously but it was hard to do which is why I can only shorten it. The Fertilizer will help with shortening its growth period so use that instead.]"

"Alright. So how many trees in total though? And I am not sure if they can immediately grow while it is freezing around the place."

"[You only needed to plant four trees in total. As for growing it, you don’t need to worry as I designed it to grow in any climate. It’s very easy, right? However, it’s not that easy. Once you get to grow it fully, you will have to charge the trees with various mana stones every day to ensure that it will remain recharged and ready to deal with the Ice Lord.]"

"Mana stones? As in, the same stones we can get from monsters?"

"[Yes. Unfortunately, we can’t infuse it with pure mana that came from our abilities as it will become too obvious and the Ice Lord will immediately be able to tell that something is wrong with those trees. Therefore, we have to do it like that.]" the God of Farming explained.

"So in short, I will still have to gather mana stones then?"

"[Yes, though its not necessary for you to fight, right? With so many adventurers fighting over the labyrinth, mana stones are pretty much abundant. Not only that but perhaps you can even ask your grandparents for some of those mana stones.]"

Elaina shook her head. "I don’t want to ask for my grandpa and grandma’s help in this one. If we needed a lot of mana stones, I don’t want them to just rob those mana stones from the other things that those stones will potentially be used. As for buying some stones, I don’t have enough money to buy them. Which means I will have to gather them myself instead."

"[You sure about that, Elaina? Buying mana stones is much safer than gathering them yourself. And what is wrong with asking for your grandparents to help with this?]" the Goddess of Medicine asked.

"If I decided to gather mana stones myself, I would be fighting monsters, which in turn will allow me to raise my proficiency in fighting, plus I will also be tackling the mission for the locked pages on the Almanac as well, tackling three tasks in one go."

The gods were surprised but the God of Farming nodded. "If you are that confident, then I will not stop you with the plan to do that. Although I wanted you to do it more safely, this one works too so I will not judge you for doing so.]"

Elaina nodded in response and immediately added a question. "[I will be gathering mana stones, what sizes are necessary for each tree?"

"[The bigger, the longer it will be consumed but will charge the tree more than usual. It only needed 3 small mana stones daily but big ones are good too if you obtain one. One big mana stone is equivalent to at least 5 medium mana stones or 10 smaller mana stones. But the more you put mana stones on every tree, the better.]"

"Okay, I got the gist of it. How about the places where I needed to plant these trees?"

"[I marked it in your almanac.]" the God of Farming said.

Elaina snapped her fingers and the Almanac appeared before her. She flipped the pages of the Almanac and checked on the map, revealing the whole Darcero Kingdom’s map. They are all located in four different directions, all across the map, creating a square-shaped mark based on the marked areas.

Everything is good and all, but one thing is just the downside of it. Every location is far enough that walking in one day is not enough to reach those areas. She will have to reach there by vehicle...or employ the help of Shardu and Zaza.
