Chapter 229: Last Hope of the Fairy Race [II]

Pixie quickly listed out how to properly cultivate the seed and as she said those words, the Almanac also added those in the method of growing the seed. From the looks of it, the method Pixie has given is not the only method for her to use and grow the seed, there’s more than one.

However, they are only there in case a problem arises as those methods are only done if in a dire state and there are no suitable areas to grow the Lotus properly which will then make the Lotus itself become a new breed of plant entirely. It’s no wonder some of the fairies have different origins. It all depends on their origin.

To give birth to fairies like Pixie, it should be grown in the water, and following her advice, Elaina will have to use the method to grow it before transferring it to the water.

"You guys should make yourselves at home for now. It’s unlikely the snow will stop anytime soon," Elaina offered to the Feys and Pixie.

"Thanks, boss. I agree with that sentiment. Without the barrier that reduces the snow falling over to the farm, we will be forced to evacuate to the higher areas as the ground will easily bury us with snow if left unchecked, " Poe said as she sat near the fireplace with her family.

"Having a big fireplace like this is great! Too bad it wouldn’t fit on our house at all," Joe said as he lay on the carpet and started dozing off.

The group continued to talk with each other while Elaina started to prepare for the actual growing process. Since Pixie has done her fair share of the work, it is time for her to do hers.

Filling up a basin with shallow water, Elaina put the seed on it and let it soak with water. Elaina then heads outside to grab a bit of fertilizer to put on the basin as a way to increase the growth rate of the seed. It will grow at a regular pace but once the fertilizer is down, the seed should sprout faster, perhaps even tomorrow.

"Morning boss," Curaj said as he headed to the Wild Cows to care for them.

"Good Morning, Curaj. You are working early today," Elaina said as she finished taking the amount of fertilizer to use.

"Pretty cold in my apartment. Even the heater that Sir Troy gave to me didn’t work pretty well and only helped during the evening but barely. At least in here, it is less cold," Curaj explained.

"Eh? I thought Minotaurs were capable of resisting the cold. I heard they do have high resistance to cold and hot temperatures."

"I do have those abilities, but since I am a half, I only got half of the effect as well. But even with the half effect, it is still so cold so I don’t think it pretty much helped my case. However, I do think this is too much colder than I thought. The cold weather back in other places where I last lived is not this bad. Maybe Darcero Kingdom’s weather is just another beast on its own?" Curaj is not sure.

"Well, if you are done with your job, you are always welcome to keep warm inside. The others are also there so you won’t feel so lonely staying."

"Thanks for the offer boss, but I must decline. I passed by Mr. Douglas’s house and he asked me to help him later on at his store if I was free since there is less work here on the farm. I will be helping out there once I am done here."

"Working hard, eh? Don’t work too hard, alright? You should take care of your body as well."

"I know boss, thanks for worrying."

Elaina nodded and left Curaj as he started doing his job. Looks like Curaj still needed some money. Perhaps he is saving to buy something? Only he knows about it. As for the experience that Curaj felt, Elaina also made a note about that. After all, he said that the weather is too cold for him. Even if he has half of the abilities a Minotaur should have, it is still a half resistance which means it is still capable of resisting decently, and yet it is not working at the moment.

The Cold Weather is not a normal thing. Elaina must gather enough evidence that there is something wrong with Darcero Kingdom’s current winter. Still, she has not yet gathered enough. She will have to investigate further. But for now, she has other priorities she wants to focus on first.

Returning inside, the Harvest Goddess and Alessa have returned to the living room along with the Feys. And for the first time, Princess Margaux went down to the living room much earlier compared to Julia who should be the one who goes down first.

"Morning everyone, looks like everyone has gathered here today. Is there some occasion?" Princess Margaux asked.

"Haha, if only there is an occasion then we will get lots of food and drinks to consume right now, lass. But no. We are just here since it was so cold in our dwellings and it is much better to stay with the majority of people here and huddle together than stay distant and endure the cold," the Harvest Goddess said as she floated in the air near the chimney.

Elaina only smiled as she shook her head a bit before heading to the basin. Pixie is currently staring at the seed like she is waiting for things to start changing immediately.

"You know that it won’t grow faster if you continue to stare at the seeds too hard," Elaina chuckled as she prepared the fertilizer.

"I know. But I am just wondering if there will be subtle changes from the seeds itself."

"Not at the moment, but it will be soon."

The Harvest Goddess approached the basin checked the contents inside and smiled.

"Cultivating a seed to rekindle the Fairy Race? Good. As expected of the farmer chosen by the God of Farming and supported by Yours Truly herself. Doing such deeds should differentiate you further from the regular old mill farmers," the Harvest Goddess said as she nodded in satisfaction.

"If only that would make me earn more money then I would be more happy than I am right now, Goddess."

Elaina then sprinkled the Fertilizer to the seed lightly. Since she didn’t need to put a lot of it into the seed, she only poured enough to let the seed be in contact with it enough while still soaked with the water.

As she finished the final touches of the seed’s cultivation plan, she heard a loud cry from the room, causing her to bolt straight to her room where she left her babies behind since they were still asleep and she didn’t want to wake them up by moving them around and putting them in the living room.

Their cries should have been soft but loud if they were hungry or if they were currently in need of changing diapers. But this time, she felt something ominous. Even the Harvest Goddess and Princess Margaux rushed back as they also felt something wrong.

And her fears came to life as she saw an entity that she had fought before. The Snow Man. Her mind quickly snapped as she didn’t bother to think how it got inside the room and her first instinct was to drive it away from her babies who were both crying.

"GET AWAY FROM MY CHILDREN!" Elaina quickly grabbed her sword leaning on the side of the door and tried slicing through the enemy that was about to attack her children, only for it to dodge away and disappear and reappear in a different area of the room.

"Goddess, Princess! Please secure my babies first! I will handle this!"

The two nodded without a second thought and scooped the two babies out of the room as Elaina faced off with the Snow Man. Now that her precious kids were out of the question, she closed the door and turned the heater inside the room to the maximum.

"I don’t know how you got inside the room but I will make sure that you will regret going inside and trying to harm my children!"

Elaina started fighting against the entity again. She has killed a Snow Man before but she has trouble doing so as it is an entity that is very agile. However, with the room being a closed area, no matter how agile it is, it is still within range of Elaina’s sword no matter which corner of the room the monster tries to evade.

With the addition of the heater in the room that had all of its heat control set to the max, raising the temperature much higher than recommended slowly dominated the closed room’s temperature. The room started to get hotter than before, causing the Snow Man to slowly melt.

It is still cold but from the looks of it, it isn’t cold enough to keep itself solid. As it sluggishly moved away from Elaina, Elaina squinted her eyes and quickly locked her eyes over at the core of the monster before she immediately threw the sword’s blade straight to the core destroying the monster in the process.
