Chapter 197: The True Almanac

The Almanac that was floating in the air suddenly opened and its pages started to flip quickly to the point that the paper was now blurred. The flipping pages also become brighter as seconds pass, and Elaina is worried that it will alert everyone.

But the bright light show from the Almanac only lasted a few seconds before it returned to its former form and finally stopped as it reached the end of the book.

Soon, the book lay down on Elaina’s lap and gently rested there, never moving again. Elaina thought there would be more when the God of Farming appeared chats once again.

"[The update is done. You can now view the Almanac’s unlocked form and see for yourself.]"

"What? But I don’t see any changes?"

"[Why would the Almanac change in the first place? It’s meant to become the same Almanac as before, it’s just that those other functions that you can’t view before will now be unlocked and ready to serve its purpose. Go ahead and open it and see for yourself.]"

Not convinced, Elaina picks up the Almanac. She realized that the Almanac was quite heavy now. Before, whenever she tried to make it look like a book, it felt like she was just reading a very thin pamphlet magazine with only a few pages due to how light it is and some pages were blank despite the number of pages appearing.

She then started to flip the pages. And Elaina soon realized that there were already changes she noticed.

Although there are no obvious changes, the moment when she flipped the first pages of the book, she soon realized that there was now a map function as the first pages were various maps of areas that Elaina had visited before. It includes the area where she was dropped when she was still a kid, the Luminiera Kingdom, and the Darcero Kingdom’s entire places. She can even see the farm on the map of Darcero Kingdom and looking at the farm from another perspective, the farm was very huge and all of the area of the farm was her property.

"[Try tapping on the map’s picture on the book, Elaina.]" the God of Farming suggested.

Elaina did as she was told and the moment she did, the image of the map zoomed in, and the map became more detailed but still in bird’s eye view form.

"[This is one of the minor additions that are now added to the book. Remember the function on the areas where you can find specific items in an area? Those are now implemented here, it was now an interactive map. Swipe the picture move around the farm and see how the interactive map will display things currently present on the farm. It is divided into groups though you can make them be displayed all at once if you like. Tap those appearing symbols and know more.]"

The map was soon riddled with various symbols on the map. It was little but those little symbols were shaped like the crops that were planted there. She tapped one of the symbols and all of a sudden, another page detached itself from the Almanac and appeared beside the symbol. What she pressed are the grapes that she planted and those specific grape entries are now shown to her. It is now displayed how long will it mature and how many days before it will bloom fully. It is also shown if the plant was already watered or not as well which wasn’t present before.

"I can see the growth progress of the crops?" Elaina was surprised.

"[It is a basic function of the Almanac but because this was sealed along, the simplified version was released but that one was flawed so it barely saw any actions from you. Now that it has been released from its shackles of seal, it is now free to show you how things are currently in. Look, it is not limited to your plants, it also applies to your livestock as well.]"

Elaina clicked on the visible cow symbols and there it was a different menu. She also realized that the cows are divided alphabetically because they have names that she wasn’t aware.

"Wow, it even displays if they can be pregnant, can be milked, or unable to be milked," Elaina was amazed.

"[Your animals will be displayed on a different page but you can view them here if you don’t want to go to the related page. Anyways, I will leave it to you to discover more on the interactive map, I won’t spoil the fun there as there are various things you might find interesting to see.]"

Although Elaina wanted to check more, the God of Farming has a point, there are various things that the Almanac has yet to show and she is just touching the tip of it. She can come back next time.

When Elaina flipped through the book, the page that detached itself flew back to the original place it was attached to. She was not surprised, but she liked this new feature as well. It was more interactive than before and she found it more interesting compared to when it was just like a normal book.

The next pages were about the upcoming weather and festivals shown on the calendar. She didn’t realize that there was a calendar here, or perhaps this was one of the new additions. There, the previous weather predictor has changed entirely and it is now no longer predicting but is now forecasting. Every calendar day, a new forecast will be available and whatever events will happen on that day will also be displayed for her to see. And seeing it like this, Elaina liked it and she will be able to plan much better now seeing that she can also see what festivals will happen in advance and when the rain will happen.

The more she flipped through, the more she realized that the previous Almanac was too simple and normal. It was like it wasn’t a big deal of a blessing and would only be useful at times but not always. But compared to before and now, the Almanac is different like night and day. It even has some entries that are related to the other gods, including the new God of Medicine and the entries of herbs related to medicines and other things that she can now view on the Almanac.

Seeing these dramatic changes in the Almanac, Elaina remembered something and immediately flipped through the most flipped pages she usually visits whenever she opened the almanac. And that is none other than the missions.

Elaina was surprised once more because she realized that nothing much had changed on the missions. The only difference this time was that there were additional tabs of missions that were now available for her including the "Labyrinth missions."

"What is this "labyrinth missions"?"

Elaina flipped through the page related to the dungeon missions and soon her questions received answers.

"First mission: Descend to the first level of the Labyrinth?"

"[Have you forgotten Elaina, the inactive dungeon near the farm? That is the labyrinth. Since this is also related to the God of Adventure and Discoveries’ missions to unlock his pages, I decided to add these missions as a way of incentivizing you to explore and descend through those dungeons whether you used a proxy to do so, or you do it yourself.]"
