A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 174: Herd of Cows

Chapter 174: Herd of Cows

Elaina tried to ask more questions about this new method of obtaining meat but the Goddess of Taming did not say anything. When she asked the God of Farming on the other hand, he shook his head and said even he, had no idea what she was talking about which means this one is something that the Goddess of Taming only knows.

But Elaina decided to trust the Goddess of Taming and decided to tame the others as well.

Seeing Elaina singlehandedly tame the rest of the cows, Julia and Princess Margaux are amazed by Elaina’s dedication and quick wits to tame the cows like nothing. After Elaina every single cow in the herd, the wild cows are now officially Elaina’s property.

She put a leash on every cow to ensure they would be not lost along the way as they returned home. And it seems the cows do not care much about it.

"Alright, let’s go back home. We can hunt along the way but it’s best we can go back as soon as we can to settle these cows in their new area to rest."

"I didn’t expect you to tame all of these cows, Miss Elaina! These cows are bigger than what I am used to so I didn’t know how to approach them and yet you confidently did it!"

"Yeah, Sis. I know you have experience with cows but dealing with wild cows and taming them to boot is something that even I have not known either! That is something that I have not expected from you! Share your secrets, Sis!"

Elaina can only laugh wryly at them. She can’t tell that the gods are currently watching her do all of the tasks and are currently backing her up in case the cows go on a rampage. It’s better to not talk about it to them and remain silent for the time being.

Gently tugging the cows, Elaina led the herd back to the farm.

"Julia, you watch the area for any potential dangers. With the cows on our backs, there is a chance that predators will take advantage of this and strike. We can’t afford for that to happen or the cows will panic as a result," Elaina ordered.

"You needed someone to spot any danger and deal with them before they get too close? Alright! I am on the case!" Julia enthusiastically gave a thumbs up.

"I will help as well!" Princess Margaux nodded and joined Julia behind the cows to guard the rear and sides of the place.

"Goddess of Taming, one question. Do these cows have a diet that is the same as the regular cows?" Elaina asked.

"[Yes, ,mostly since they also eat grass. However, they also like to eat various vegetables and fruits if they get their mouths with one. It isn’t so bad to give them these items from time to time if you want them to be healthy. Just make sure you don’t overfeed them with it, or else, they will forget about the grass and will become dependent on the veggies and fruits. Let them eat those from time to time, like once or twice a month. Treat it like some sort of special treat for them.]"

"I see. If that is the case, I am not worried. With all the grass present in the field, they will help deal with all the grass without us getting involved in mowing down those grasses and letting the cows handle everything."

Glancing at the rear side, Elaina saw the two girls actively getting rid of enemies that were attacking. As she predicted, predators were on the prowl and started to do a sneak attack. Thankfully, it seems that Princess Margaux, has excellent detection skills and Julia’s magic abilities that are fast and rapid-fire, the predators were not even a threat, and the cows barely noticed any enemies.

And thanks to these attacks of the predators, Julia has been dragging and putting the carcasses of predators straight into the bag. Not only will they get more meat, but they will also have a chance to get resources that can be sold for money. A win-win for them.

Thankfully, the journey back home is much smoother than expected without any mishaps whatsoever that have prevented them from returning home so far.

...

"Uh..." Troy was speechless seeing what Elaina brought back home.

"Hahahaha, what is this? We just disappeared for a few days but the moment we returned, we got another surprise! Ahahahahaha! Incredible, Elaina!" Grandfather heartily laughed at the scene of Elaina reigning the cows back inside the farm as they returned from the forest.

"Wild cows...aren’t they considered monsters? Why is it so obedient on Elaina for some reason?" Grandmother was confused and was looking at the cows again and again to ensure she wasn’t just mistaking them.

"Sure enough, they are monsters. But seeing them on Elaina’s? That’s another feat that our grandaughter was able to do. Since she managed to tame Hencluckles just fine, taming wild cows is not going to be a big deal, to be honest. Maybe we will have a good way of an alternative to normal cows and alternate from them to the wild cows," Grandfather is quite optimistic as she approaches her granddaughter who is helping the cows enter the farm safely.

"You did another feat again that I wouldn’t expect you to do, Elaina. Wild cows are something else of a monster and yet, you made them tamer than regular cows. Perhaps you got a blessing from the Goddess of Taming herself since you got the skills of taming monsters like nothing?" He asked.

Elaina was surprised since her grandfather almost guessed the reason why she was able to reign in the cows, but she didn’t show it too much. However, she doesn’t need to reveal all of it, but she can indeed tell them that this is due to the Goddess of Taming’s help.

"I have indeed gained her temporary blessing to tame these animals. And thanks to her blessings, the process was also smooth. But I can’t recommend doing this to others if they don’t have the confidence to tame one and treat them like a regular monster. These guys might be big, but they are only dangerous if provoked, just like our regular animals. So I want to say that they should still treat these guys like regular animals if they plan to reign in monsters like this," Elaina explained.

"I see. And with the blessings from the Goddess of Taming, you managed to do these feats. These aren’t just something regular farmers should do. Still, I commend you, Elaina, for getting these big cows out of dangerous monsters staying in the forest. Domesticating them might be hard but it will work out eventually."

Elaina nodded before she led the herd of cows to the fences that Curaj was making.

Like Curaj promised, he finished the fences that were supposed to cage the cows. It was big enough for the 6 cows that Elaina reigned back in but the fence was not high enough to block the cows from just walking over them.

"I am sorry, Boss. It seems the fences are much lower than expected. I thought you would be bringing regular cows so I used the regular size of the fences to fence off the cows, but didn’t expect them to be this...big."

Curaj felt intimidated seeing the cows chew grass as soon as they were put in their pens.

"No worries, Curaj. I never said the sizes of the cows and we never expected them to be this big in the first place so it isn’t your fault to begin with. Anyway, these fences you made are great. If not for the size of the cows, I must say that these fences are perfect indeed for containing cows in a certain area.

Curaj sighed in relief. "Then, should I remake the fences?"

Before Elaina can answer, the Goddess of Taming interjects.

"[Don’t worry about that right now, Elaina. The fences right now might look low and easy to be trampled or walked over by these cows but don’t worry, you can still contain them in those low fences just fine. These wild cows recognize the fence as a way to keep them together so they will not cross it. Don’t underestimate the wild cow’s ability to understand concepts and things.]" The Goddess of Taming said.

"I see, so these fences can still keep them in place. But what if they just trample these fences? These are small and easy to break. I think we should raise the fence a bit more higher," Elaina insisted.

"[You don’t need to worry about them escaping and trampling the place. But I do agree that the fences should be raised a bit higher. Once you start to grow your veggies on the field, the cows might try to get their mouths on your crops so, having a higher fence will save you the trouble of their voracious appetite. For now, since your field is still barren, the fence right now should be fine.]"

Hearing this, Elaina nodded in satisfaction. With the new addition of the cows, Elaina will need the equipment needed for milking the cows soon and to also plan for the customized Barn that would house these cows. After all, they are not your regular-size cows.
