Chapter 173: Wild Cows
Chapter 173: Wild Cows
From the realm of the Gods, even the God of Farming was not expecting to see the cows that he was seeing right now. He then looked at the excited Goddess of Taming who was currently enjoying the view.
"[You little sh*t...I don’t know what you have been eating these past few days but these aren’t your regular cows to be tamed! Those cows are double the size of the regular cows that I know! Care to elaborate on this to me and how the heck Elaina and her companions should properly reign them in? In human terms, these cows can be considered as monsters! There is no way you want a pregnant woman to do something like taming these big guys!]" The God of Farming is furious and demands an explanation from the Goddess of Taming.
"[Woah there, chill. Don’t worry, despite their sizes, they are pretty chill. I can guarantee you that. The only reason why people would fear these cows is because of their size, but they are not that kind of animals. Trust me, Elaina can do it just fine.]"
The God of Fishing approached the two looked at the situation and rubbed his beard as he sighed, "[What the God of Farming fears is that these big guys might harm Elaina in some way. Even if they are gentle creatures, they can still be dangerous due to their sheer size alone. That is not something that can just be ignored.]"
"[Alright. Since you two are afraid things will go south, then I will immediately save Elaina from harm in case those fears of yours come true. I will guarantee that with my position as a Goddess on a line.]"
Hearing her proposition, the two sighed and eventually gave up. With the position as a Goddess on the line, that means that the Goddess of Taming is a hundred percent sure about this matter and she would not just say anything just because she wanted to boast.
Seeing the two went quiet, the Goddess of Taming started to begin her instruction to Elaina who was still observing the cows in the distance.
...
...
...
Elaina is still pinching herself to make sure she isn’t just dreaming when she sees the cows when the Goddess of Taming gives out her first instruction.
"[Are you ready now, Elaina?]" the Goddess of Taming asked.
"Wait, wait, are you sure? I was expecting a more "wild" cow but you never said that the wild cows were actually "huge cows"! These cows are massive and much bigger than a bull and buffalo!"
"[Relax, Elaina. Everything will be fine. These cows are not what they look like. They might be big, but they are what you consider "gentle giants". Their sizes don’t matter since they are just oversized gentle cows. And you won’t have much trouble with them as cows since they will be easy to reign in once you tamed them. Just follow my instructions and you will be fine. Don’t worry, you have my back if something unexpected happens.]"
Elaina nodded. Since her two companions were still shocked, Elaina made the first move to approach the cows.
"[Although they are wild in nature, they are not easily startled. As long as you don’t make any loud noises that can cause them to panic, then you will be fine. Approach them normally like how you usually do. Don’t crouch or lower your stature or they will think you are some sort of predator ready to ambush them. Stand proud and let them know you are not there to harm them.]"
Hearing the instructions, Elaina relayed the instructions to the two girls and despite their nervousness, they followed Elaina’s words and stood up.
She is a bit nervous but Elaina’s confidence is giving her enough courage to continue. The two others remained behind Elaina, not too far from her. They didn’t dare to approach the cows as they were afraid they would get startled in the process.
Elaina continues to approach. The cows looked at her like it was gauging if she was a dangerous individual or not. It was like a dog, sniffing someone if they are good or not.
"[Great. Now, extend your hand slowly to one of the cows. Make sure you don’t stand in front of the one you are extending your arm with as that would indicate that you are trying to stop them from what they were doing. Stand on their side and slowly touch them.]"
Hearing this, Elaina moved to the side and slowly extended her hands to one of the wild cows which was smaller than the rest of its herd but still bigger than a regular one. Her palms soon landed on its body and its thick hair was somewhat silky to touch. She wasn’t expecting it since most of the cows with hairs that are long have coarse and rough hair. But this one is different. It’s like she was touching the fur of a cat or dog. It is very silky and smooth to the touch.
Seeing no reaction, Elaina began to scratch the skin of the cow slowly but enough for the cow to feel the sensation. She usually does this on the cows that she interacted with back on the farm with her grandpa so she knows how the cows behave. And it seems even though these cows are big, their behavior remains the same.
"[You are doing great, Elaina! Now, as you entertain the cow, go and give it some of the food that I ordered you to bring. One should be enough.]"
Elaina then used her free hand to rummage through the rucksack and pulled out one of the items that the Goddess asked for her to bring. A half of a cob corn that is already steamed which means it is no longer hard but ready for consumption.
"[With the corn in hand, offer it to the cow and gently nudge on its mouth. Don’t force the corn, just nudge it slowly on its mouth or maybe put it near its nose. Not directly but close enough.]"
Nudging its nose, the wild cow snorted a bit after it smelled the corn. Elaina was nervous at first if it would suddenly lash out but thankfully, it seems to be not the case. The cow started sniffing the corn once more and soon enough, its head slowly turned to the corn and started to chew the corn. Elaina then let the corn go and the cow started to chew it like it was grass. Even the cob itself is not exempted and eaten as well.
After it had eaten the food, the cow started to nudge its head to Elaina like it was trying to imprint itself on her.
"[Haha, would you look at that, now you are successful with the taming process, Dear Elaina! The nudging movement of that big cow is the sign you have made the cow your tamed animal!]"
"Huh? That’s it?" Elaina was surprised.
"[Yep. As I said before, they are easy to reign in and they are gentle creatures. If you give them love and even compassion, they will be easy to have with you. I wondered why people nowadays are no longer using Wild Cows are part of their ranches. Not only do these cows give milk, but their hair is also quite strong and can be used as an alternative wool for winter. They are easy to process and less of a hassle to cut compared to the wool of sheep. Plus, they have a neat ability that will allow you to eat their meat without the need to butcher them!]"
What all the goddess revealed was something big and Elaina was surprised after hearing them from the goddess herself.
"Wait, wait, wait. You can harvest their hair and they have the ability that will allow you to eat their meat without killing any of them?! Am I hearing it wrong?" Elaina is a bit confused.
"[Nope, all of them are real. These cows can have their hair as a substitute for wool, and they can even provide meat without the need to butcher one cow in the process. It’s a big win for you and for them will have an easy time on the farm now!]"
"Okay, just wait a minute. I think I can understand the wool replacement part but I am confused about the meat products part. There is no way that is possible!"
"[Oh it is possible alright. You can say this is the "real organic meat" as this meat does come from the animal itself but you can get it without the need to slaughter one. Once they become comfortable enough in their environment, they will produce some sort of "seeds" that they will be releasing from their body. Planting them for 7 days would then allow you to grow a small plant that will grow different essential meat parts to be eaten. You can say that they are meat plants. And they do taste like real meat you get from a slaughtered animal!]"
