Chapter 124: The Lotus Seeds are Ready

The next few days became a busy schedule for Elaina. After selling the final batch of the watermelons, Elaina stopped growing the watermelons and cut them down before they could develop a new fruit once more.

Why Elaina did that because she didn’t want to store more watermelons in the storage. She didn’t want to have a lot of excess that would just rot. Overselling, on the other hand, is bad for the business as having more supply in the market will just make the melons redundant and no longer well sought out in the future knowing the supply is currently present and this only last during summer.

Once summer is over, the people who will buy watermelon will be few and only buy it for craving or something similar. This is why removing the excess plants is much better than letting them continue growing and regrow their fruits the entire summer. She has no animals that can benefit from overripe and rotten crops in the first place. It is kind of a waste, but Elaina needs to optimize her farming strategy as well. She needs to earn money, not lose them.

Instead, she decided to change to another fruit and that is going to be pineapple this time around. Compared to melons, what Elaina got this time were normal seeds and it is one of the seeds she bought back then in the very beginning. She could have bought her pineapple and grown them from scratch but she wanted to grow them from seeds this time around so she will be growing them as she also likes pineapples.

Based on the Almanac’s description, by the time the Pineapples grow mature, they will be fully harvested by the time summer is about to end, a perfect way to end summer and welcome the fall season.

Since it was directly from a seed, the planting process is not so complicated. She can ask the Feys to plant this for her.

The next thing Elaina decided to focus on was the retrieval of seeds from the lotus. To retrieve the seeds, she will have to dry the flowers that contain the seed pod which she has done ever since the retrieval of the plants happened. She let them dry for a while to a place where they wouldn’t be disturbed by anything but could still be properly dried without problem.

And since it has been hot, the process went by a lot faster, and by the time Elaina checked it up for today, the lotus seeds were now ready for use.

After Elaina has the seeds, she tells the Feys to call for the pixie and tell her that the seed is ready and she can begin anytime once she is already fully recovered.

It didn’t take long and the pixie met up to Elaina to take a look at the seeds.

"Yes, this is indeed the right plant. I have seen these seeds before and I still remember that we do plant them from time to time around the village and grow them to full bloom. I didn’t know that it has a big significance in the end."

"Just remember that you can’t use your abilities to the seeds if you are still exhausted. If you try to do so while you are still not in tip-top shape then you will die as your life force will instead be used as fuel to do this. So don’t push yourself if you can’t do it. What good will it do if you die in the end?" Elaina reminded her.

She nodded. "Yes. There is no point in sacrificing myself if I can’t see the growth of my race once again. I am the final hope for our race and I can’t afford to screw up."

"Good. So how do you feel right now?"

"A little bit. I am not a hundred percent sure but if I do say so myself, I think I am partially good."

"So not fully recovered but only partial? I think you need to further recover your health for now. This is also for your good."

The pixie sighed. Although she is ready to do the task, she cannot do it just yet. She barely recovered from her previous trauma and her mana is still not fully in tip-top shape. If she forced herself, then perhaps she will not survive before she can even see the next generation from being born.

"I think you should keep the seeds for now. If that is with me, I might start to be tempted to attempt it without thinking of the danger that might befall me. I would rather be safe than to be sorry."

Elaina understood the wishes of the fairy. Perhaps, even she would be inclined to also do it knowing that she can rekindle the life of an extinct race. But Elaina doesn’t want the little fairy to waste her life.

"Alright. Once you are ready, tell me about it and we will get started right away."

Elaina respected the pixie’s decision and since she still valued her life, Elaina didn’t force her. With the seeds in her hands, Elaina decided that she should plant a few of the lotus seeds while waiting for the full recovery of the pixie. It will take time, so cultivating some lotus in the meantime and taking advantage of it while she has them is much better than letting them idle and get overly dry.

"Hey, God of Farming, are lotus part of your domain of power? I am a bit confused if it was going to be the work of the God of Water and you have no relation regarding it."

"[Yes. It is still included and part of my power. All plants including those that grow in the sea, or underwater are still part of my power. It might be under the god of water’s power but it is still something in my domain of expertise. And if you ask about the lotus, then yes, that is also part of my expertise as well and one of my first creations back then.]"

"If that is the case, perhaps you can tell me a few tips on improving the growth of Lotuses and making them bloom with beautiful flowers?"

"[100 Fp and I will tell you.]"

"Okay, never mind."

"Stingy."

"I have better purchases with those 100 FP than to waste it on some advice. Maybe next time."

Despite Elaina’s first time growing lotuses, she has a basic idea of how to grow them. She only needed to make sure she was doing the right way to prepare it for planting into the water. Until the Pixie is fully recovered, Elaina will first take advantage of the lotus and use it for her own profit.
