Chapter 122: Watermelon Craze

Chapter 122: Watermelon Craze

One particular day, on a normal, sweltering weather in the market, the place is still full of different products that are gathered, collected, and produced by different farmers, hunters, brewers, and even artisans who make different items for sale. Many would say that everything you wanted to find here is present and will be always available for everyone.

A customer of the market who is looking for a good fruit to bring to the beach is browsing through the fruits.

"Hmm, should I grab some pineapple? No, although it was good, I don’t think it is good for the beach. I wanted something big that could be shared with everyone without much trouble. Hmm, perhaps I should look for some Watermelon. Maybe someone is already selling a few watermelons for consumption?"

As he was browsing through the fruits, he stumbled upon the stand that isolated the watermelon from the other fruits because of their sheer size.

"Wow, these are some Humongous Melons I have seen!"

He grabbed one and realized that the weight of the melon was just right. Not too heavy and not too light. Not only that but he can also smell the sweet smell of the melon right in the get-go. It’s not even cracked open and yet he can already tell that this will be a great purchase if he does continue with it.

"Well, why not? This is already something great based on the size alone. This will be perfect for the beach."

Little did these people know, they would soon regret not buying more than one melon after their initial purchase. Since it would soon cause the craze dubbed by the Market as the "Watermelon Craze"

As for Elaina, she is already aware of the current chaos in the market, but she is not supplying the market with additional melons as part of the stock. Instead, Elaina, Julia, and Princess Margaux are currently running a small stall on the beachside. Thanks to Princess Margaux’s influence and also her presence, they managed to acquire the right to set up a stall for them to do.

"I see now! So to make the most profit, you shipped the previous watermelons yesterday as a means to attract people about the melon?"

"Indeed. A small catalyst to start a craze for something."

"And as a result of that craze, everyone is now looking for the sold-out watermelon ever since and using that as a way to entice the people you will sell desserts that are going to use up melon but will allow you to sell more than just what you have sold before via shipping bin," Princess Margaux tries to understand Elaina’s stratagem.

"Correct, it is a bit complicated but everyone will slowly realize that we can earn money more if we slowly use up the melon than selling it as a whole."

On their stall is a big tank full of red liquid inside. The red liquid is not blood nor it was a wine. It is a juice made from watermelon accompanied by a block of ice inside to enhance the taste and experience of drinking watermelon juice. It is crushed melon flesh, crushed enough to be very indistinguishable from its former form of watermelon flesh. Drinking it would make everyone think this is just pure juice of melon and nothing else.

A few kids carrying their floaties passed by and saw the new stand that Elaina and the girls rented.

"A new stall? What are you guys selling?" One of the kids asked.

"This is watermelon juice. It’s one of our bestselling products as of late so we decided to just chill out for a bit by using those melons."

"Watermelon? Wow, I tasted one yesterday and I am still looking for some melon to satisfy my craving!" one of the little girls said as she approached.

"Eh, is it really that amazing? I mean, we have eaten watermelons before but I never saw you guys look like this during that time," the male kid tilted his head.

"Trust me! It was really good. You just didn’t know since your parents didn’t buy the melon in time so by the time you guys arrived, everything was sold out."

"Eh, it doesn’t matter. I needed to satisfy that lingering taste in my mouth. A melon juice might help. Miss, how much?"

"1 gold coin per cup!"

"That’s cheap! Are you sure this is indeed melon juice and not just water with red coloring?" the girl asking earlier asked.

"You guys heard it right. Just one gold. Don’t worry guys, this is not a scam. This is indeed watermelon juice," Elaina smiled and pitched one cup of watermelon juice.

The smell is enough to entice the kids who are just asking for the price. The girl who managed to taste the melon before gulped involuntarily before she soon succumbed to the temptation.

"Urgh, alright. Fine! Here! 1 GOLD!" she then slams the 1 gold to the counter grabs the cup of watermelon juice from Elaina’s hands and drinks them without pause.

"So? So? How does it taste?" one of the kids is curious as the girl just drank the whole thing without speaking.

"Urgh, just from watching her drink made me want to drink one as well. Ugh, here, 1 gold. I needed one cup as well, please."

"Here you go!" Elaina handed another cup but this time, to the male kid.

He was hesitant at first but as soon as he drank the melon, his eyes went wide and he didn’t stop gulping the melon juice until he emptied the whole cup.

The girl was done drinking everything in one go as well which ended with a satisfied sigh.

"That...was epic!"

As soon as the girl exclaimed her satisfaction, the other kid who got the melon juice grinned and pulled out three gold coins, flipping them over to the table before letting them land together on a line.

"Give me three more cups, please, one for me, one for him, and one more for her."

The other kid who didn’t buy the melon juice felt lost as he asked for the two about the taste. But the two kids only tapped his shoulder like they were suggesting something.

"Just do it."
