A Serpent's Tale -
Chapter 349: Sudden Raid
Chapter 349: Sudden Raid
I got back up as I tried to readjust myself, trying to overcome my chaotic emotions.
"H-His name i-is..." My body was still overly hot, streams of steam coming off of it from my emotional distress. But I had to say it, or else I would just end up wallowing in my sorrows and fester my anger within forever. "His name is Vorzara. A male Naga who plotted to end the Goddess Astraa’s bloodline with my mother."
Despite my body trembling with hatred, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. It felt nice to confide in someone about it. Regardless of how much it hurt.
"I see... I understand your pain... Having your parents ripped away from you so abruptly..."
There was a silence as the both of us reminisced about the loss of our respective parents.
"But now, with you here and with the Sect’s backing, we can finally get retribution!" Trayzara yelled with a slightly crazed fervour. One that I understood too well, now that I knew what I did.
*BOOM*
Out of nowhere, there was a sudden muffled explosion sound that likely came from the edge of the castle.
"What?!?" Trayzara immediately got out of her seat in a panic, beads of perspiration dripping down her face instantly as the reality of the situation set.
But as just as quick as the shock and fear came, so too did the unbridled fury.
Immediately afterwards guards came storming into the room.
"Your majesty! We have to get you to safety immediately!" One of them yelled in worry.
The Futaris merely took in a deep breath and sighed as she confidently told her guards whilst pointing towards me, "No need. With her here, we can stamp out any threat within moments."
"But... Your majesty..." The guards weren’t too sure of this though and tried to dissuade Trayzara’s decision. But she held firm.
"The safest place I can be is beside her. She has immense power that is hidden within. And from what I’ve heard, incredibly volatile as well." She slithered up to me and with a vicious smile that was plastered across her face, she asked, "Shall we go and greet our ’guests’?"
And with a more sinister and chilling smile, I said, "Why of course. It would be rude to not welcome them properly."
As we headed in the direction towards the commotion, I could hear the cluttering of the guards’ weapons falling on the floor.
...
Within a minute we had reached the area where the intruders had blown a massive hole in the wall of what seemed to be a library of sorts.
A group of Naga’s, all dressed in a dark, chaotic spiralling crimson robe with a black eye etched on the back.
They were currently holding several staff hostage along with I thing a couple of young nobles.
Surrounding them were several guards and mages. There were signs of a scuffle but no side seemed particularly hurt, apart from those beneath the rubble from the now broken wall.
"Ah, looks like the person we desire is already here. Welcome, Futaris Trayzara Krara Astraa. We were going to come looking for you once we disposed of these pests but now it seems we don’t have to. How fortunate."
More guards and mages spilled into the room to surround these invaders. And I could see that they were also surrounding them from behind also.
Trayzara closer her eyes and lowered her head. And sneered. "Fe~ You really chose the wrong day to do this. You will not be leaving this castle ever again."
"Ho? And what makes you so sure of that? After all, we managed to get all the way here, and we could even destroy the whole palace if we so desired. And we can do this all thanks to this!"
The leader of these perpetrators, who happened to be a male Naga, but clearly not Vorzara pulled out a dark crimson tipped sceptre, with a black shaft holding it, out from a spatial pouch of sorts.
I saw out of the corner of my eyes Trayzara’s eyes shrink and falter for a second before she readjusted herself.
"So what if you have the Sceptre of Destructive Flames? That won’t be enough for you leave this place alive."
"Kehehehe~ And just what are you planning on doing to counteract it? Hmm? You certainly don’t have any artefacts or relics powerful enough to counter this. Stave it off, maybe. But counter? Definitely not."
Trayzara held herself high, giving off the strong image of a strong ruler. But I could see that she was trembling in fear after seeing that weird sceptre.
"I don’t need any artefacts or relics." She boasted confidently, and I believe she was hoping that I would help her out here. Which I would of course. "Now state your business. Why are you causing such pointless carnage?"
"Pointless?" The leader of this cult-like group, appeared confused at that word, seemingly contemplating it before a grotesque grin appeared on his face. "Because it’s fun! GAHAHAHAHAHAA!"
Trayzara’s fists clenched and I could hear here teeth grinding as the cultist leader cackled, the rest of the cultists staying silent and keeping their eye on the royal guards.
Then the laughter suddenly stopped and the cultists leader suddenly took on a more serious and grim tone, his face hardened, the jovial attitude he once had now gone.
"But for real. We’re after you Royal Vault, or rather, something within it. If you could just take us there, we’ll give you and everyone else here a painless death."
"No." Was Trayzara’s response.
"Huh? Did you not hear me? I just said we’d grant you all a painless death and you’ve refused that? You know how powerful this thing is right? And the pain it brings to those it utterly and completely destroys?" He questioned as he waved the sceptre back and forth.
Trayzara merely sneered again and slithered back, and finally this bastard’s attention was on me.
I clasped my hands in front of me as I closed my eyes as he turned to get a proper look at me. The air shifting unnoticeably as he did so.
"Huh? The fuck is this bitch supposed to be?" He asked, pointing the sceptre at me.
I opened my eyes slightly and a golden glint sparkled from them for just a moment as I spoke.
"Your doom."
"Haaah? The fu-"
My eyes cracked open fully in a split second as I poured all my rage and hatred into my Bloodline and directed it at these cultists, and only them.
The building trembled as the guards and regular people trembled and shrieked in fear at the sheer intensity at which I was putting onto the cultists.
In fact, it was so intense, some of them were literally crushed to death by it, almost all of them in fact were crushed to death. Only a few of them managing to remain alive as their bodies were crushed with what was probably the weight of several mountains.
Seeing them struggle so much to resist was so invigorating that I almost increased what pressure I could out of emotional spite just to see them suffer like this more.
The worst part was that this affected even their souls, which for those already killed by being crushed to death, was even worse.
Those still with their bodies were getting it off lightly right now. But I had to calm myself down as I think I was frightening everyone a little too much with this display.
That said, I slithered closer to their leader, who was surprisingly still able to grip the sceptre, even though his wrist is broken and I could both hear and see his flesh and bones tearing as it was forced into the ground. Regardless of what was in its way.
