Chapter 348: A Talk in The Royal Palace

Trayzara led me through a set of doors that were big enough to be the wall of an entire house and filled with enough detail carvings to rival works of art round the world.

And the hall we entered was even bigger than the doors, with arching pillars that went all the way to the ceiling, with either statues depicting Naga’s in various positions filling in the gaps between them, or paintings of either important people r historic moments in history.

There were guards lining the entire hallway, and all of them bowed to the Futaris as we passed by. As did all the servants roaming about the place, stopping doing whatever they were doing.

Eventually, after going through many long corridors and halls, we came to another fairly large door, which although not a large or grand as the ones at the entrance, were still a sight to behold in their own right.

But the thing about this door was that the depiction on it was something I had seen before.

It was the same image as the one on that sealed door in my Inheritance site. Except it looked like it had been cut out so that Astraa covered the rest of the door whilst the rest of her surroundings were mostly the same from what I can remember.

I didn’t get much time to look at it though as I was brought inside the throne room? Why was I being brought here?

The doors shut behind me and I belatedly realised that it was just me and the Futaris in the room And instantly something about her demeanour changed.

"Ugh..." She grunted and slouched as she sat on her throne, which was more of a chaise but still had elements of the more standard design of a throne elsewhere in the world.

"I hate all those poxy formalities. I’m honestly jealous of you for being able to not care." She whinged as she slumped her head up against a cushion on her throne.

"Uhh..."

"What? Expecting me to be all posh and mindful and all that malarky? Well sorry to burst your bubble, but that ’s just a public image I’m afraid."

"Uh, I mean, Kind of?" I was a little taken aback by this revelation that the ruler of our kingdom was so crass behind the curtains.

"Yeah, well that’s the burden of being a ruler, you have to follow every pointless and stupid social rule ever made. It’s hell I tell you." Trayzara continued to complain.

"So uh... What do we do now? Why’d you even bring me here?" I was honestly a little perturbed by the current situation, still reeling a little from the current situation I found myself in.

I mean, I was in a room alone with the ruler of an entire nation. And she was acting like a brat.

"Hmm? Oh right, Well I brought you in here because I wanted to ask you a few things without any potential prying ears."

I found that a little dubious. "And you’re sure that no one’s listening in on us now?"

"Yes, of course. This isn’t the actual throne room if you thought that. It’s more of my person throne room, used for greeting important guests, friends and family alike. A less stressful environment for welcoming’s really. And it’s perfectly soundproofed by the way, so don’t worry. No physical or magical means can be used to pry on our conversations here." She reassured me.

"So then what did you want to ask me?"

Trayzara sighed and her mood shifted from a carefree and jovial one, to a much more serious and somewhat surly one.

"There are a few things, the first of which being What do you know of them?"

I just stared at her with incredulity. She expected me to know who the fuck she was talking about?

So I asked back, "Who?"

"The dissenters. They’re a group that is suspected to be plotting to overthrow the current ruling powers across the world. They’re supposedly a large group made up of several hundred races dedicated to bringing back ’order’ to the world, at least, that’s what those we have managed to capture alive have said."

"... That still doesn’t help me know who you’re talking about."

The Futaris contemplated for a second before she spoke again.

"From what information we have gleamed, we have reason to suspect that they wish to overthrow the current pantheons, both the old and new orders. And to that end... They have been exterminating any and all who might pose a threat. For example, their direct bloodline."

She looked at me with a gloomy expression.

And I felt my blood freeze, almost literally. I turned pale as my eyes shook in horror. These emotions quickly turning into the complete opposite and my blood started to literally boil as fury overtook my expression.

Trayzara seemed to grow fearful as my emotions shifted and I stared directly at her.

And all I said was, "Where?"

She gulped and with a trembling voice said, "I-I don’t know. I w-wish I did, so that we could take them out, but they’re too elusive and secretive. They have operatives everywhere, and it’s so hard to find people to trust with this information."

My body flared up, literally, flames flickered all across me ad I grit my teeth and seethed. I didn’t realise it, but tears were streaming down my face for a brief second before getting evaporated by the heat emanating off of me.

"I can see that they’ve greatly scarred you... And I do sympathise with you, maybe not with your specific scars, but I do empathise with your desire to kill them."

I tried to calm down, but I just couldn’t. All my life I had to deal with the pain of losing those I loved. Those I remember fondly and consider family. Those I don’t remember, but know existed. Those I currently love.

All my life, these forces that were out of my control continued to take and threated everything I hold dear. And no matter how strong I’ve become, it never feels like enough.

Trayzara could see me struggling and keeling over to coil up inside myself. She clearly wanted to help, but didn’t know how to approach me right now.

*Sigh* "I truly wish I could help you right now, to at least get some form of retribution for the suffering they’ve caused. But I can’t... I’m powerless to do anything. I have to tread lightly or else they will take care of me like they did my father."

"I just... I just want to live peacefully..." I cried out in misery.

Trayzara then spoke up, which brought my hopes up also, "Well, with you here, we can actually start. I may not have much, but I do have a few suspects within my court that I believe are a part of this organisation. And anything you know, ANYTHING at all, will be helpful in taking them down."

I sniffled as I told her what I knew, "I-I know who one of them is, as well as the locations of one of their meeting places. Just know that the person I know is mine and mine alone to deal with." As I spoke, my emotions transformed from ones of helplessness to one’s of wrath.

"If that is what you wish, then I have no right to deny you your retribution." Trayzara bowed lightly in her seat. "Now, what exactly do you know about them?"
