Chapter 179: Chapter 179: TRAVEL SAFELY

"I don’t know when I am going to see you again, but I wish you all the best in what you are looking for. May the deities be with you, protect you all the time and have your dreams be fulfilled!" while facing Mammy Lena and Lisa, Calista sincerely said to them.

A lot of things may happen on the road, and at times it is difficult to protect oneself during these times. So having the protection of the deities wasn’t a bad idea.

She had always been protected and barely met bad people during the times she was on the road. Of course, there was Blackey and Whitey who were with her. If there was anyone or anything with ill intention towards her, then that thing was already manure by now. She didn’t have much to worry about.

She wished the same for these people. Since they couldn’t have her children, then they might as well rely on the deities.

They didn’t worship these deities for nothing. In times of need, they should reciprocate. It was a two-way street and not one.

Which is why she loves the goddess of luck and wealth. Those two knew how to give and she didn’t get tired of giving them her praise all the time.

Since they never disappoint, why not give her all?

"Thank you for the blessings, lady!"

"We will travel well. Thank you!"

Calista grinned as she looked at the two, feeling melancholic already.

She turned to look at Ian, who stood like an ethereal gentleman. Being a scholar truly suited him the best. She just hoped that he would find happiness in his life, whatever he did.

She really disliked what these aristocratic families were like all the time. Very feudal, and strict, and forced their young ones to follow whatever they wanted.

She saw that happening in the family she grew up serving, and it was suffocating just to watch. However, she still felt that they lived much better compared to her, who was a slave back then.

Anyway, returning her thoughts to the current moment, she opened her mouth and started saying to Ian. "I will say this once again. Thank you for everything that you have done for me and the village. I can never thank you enough!" sincerity oozing from her eyes.

Setting aside the man’s unspoken love for her, which was squashed before it even got spoken out loud, he was pretty good at what he did. She didn’t think that she would be able to find someone who was like him ever again. It would be impossible.

Ian smiled faintly at Calista, his thoughts a bit complicated. "Thank you for giving me an opportunity. I also learnt much from it!"

Hearing such words, how can the shameless lady not be thrilled?

"Hahaha, I guess that we both benefited." she laughed heartily as her eyes squinted at him before continuing, "Anyway, with you on the road like this, I won’t feel at ease if anything happens to you all. That was why I prepared a last-minute gift!" with a smile beaming on her face.

How can she just send them on their way like that without some insurance?

’What could it be?’ they all wondered when they heard Calista and saw that smile on her face.

Calista pulled out three small bottles from her sleeves and said as she passed a bottle to each person, "This is a special medicine. It will come in handy if you ever feel sick or get hurt. Apply moderately if such a case ever happens!" her heart feeling a bit squished at gifting such precious medicine to the three of them.

it took her a lot of effort and hypnotizing to easily take out the medicine from her cabinet.

It was very precious to easily give it away like that. She didn’t know how many years she was going to live, so every single drop was important to her.

With one full bottle remaining plus a pitiful quarter of the diluted bottle, she further diluted to provide these three bottles. She was running low on medicine. One can imagine how heart-wrenching it was for her when she was doing this.

It was as if she was cutting a piece of her heart to give to someone and thinking about it as she watched these three beaming at her as they accepted the bottles. She regretted it again.

This medicine reminded her of Orson. She wasted so much medicine on that bastard, despite giving him the diluted version of it.

If she knew he was escaping from marriage, she wouldn’t have given him a lot of medicine. Who knows what he did with the medicine she gave him?

It wouldn’t be surprising if he sold it for money.

"Thank you, lady, for this!" Mammy Lena felt very touched upon receiving the medicine.

As someone who woke up in a day, after getting this medicine before, she understood how important and precious the medicine was. It felt like an honor to be given such medicine.

Even Lisa was touched as well. This was the same medicine which brought her from the dead and having it on her person, she felt that she didn’t have anything to worry about.

Ian, on the other hand, felt complicated as he held the bottle.

What is this?

Couldn’t she have given me something better than this?

Is it even effective?

The more he thought about it, the more he felt indignant and disappointed. However, he didn’t expose his feelings as he looked at Calista.

Either way, she was still the woman he was in love with. He didn’t dare show his disappointment in her presence.

Calista, unaware of Ian’s thoughts, still felt pained with the gift but still added a few more words to bid these people farewell.

"Take care of yourself and don’t stress yourself much. The baby is very important, don’t forget that!" as Mammy Lena sat in the carriage, she didn’t forget to remind Calista.

Calista, whose baby bump was visible in those loose clothes, smiled ruefully at the other. Even on the verge of leaving, she didn’t forget to nag. Just how did her mistress survive this lady in the first place?

"Hehehe, don’t worry Mammy Lena. I will surely take care of myself!" she playfully said as she waved her hand and added, "I dare not fool around."

Even if she was an idiot, she wouldn’t play with such a thing. Her baby was very precious, and she was waiting for it to come into the world and see it with her by her side. How can she play around and cause harm to it?

Mammy Lena heaved with relief when she heard that but still added a few more reminders, nearly driving Calista crazy.

Lisa watching the interaction between the two stifled her laughter as she found their interactions to be one of the funniest ones she had ever seen.

Most of the time, they were like this. With the other nagging, and the other feeling exasperated all the time. But at the end of the day, the two were always harmonious. If people were to know that they weren’t relatives, they would be shocked.

After the nagging was completed, the carriages finally departed and Calista looked at the departing carriages dejectedly.

’They are really gone!’ it sank in her mind once again as the cloud of dust formed and the carriages continued to move.

But as they say, life goes on no matter what.

And that was exactly what she was going to do.
