Chapter 180: GETTING BUSY AGAIN

Chapter 180: Chapter 180: GETTING BUSY AGAIN

With the departure of the three, Calista was sad for a few hours before she was back to normal.

Ian was gone, which meant that for the moment there weren’t going to be any classes.

So, until the new teacher was found, the students were going to have a long vacation. And this news somehow made the villagers so happy that Calista rolled her eyes, finding them very ungrateful.

wasn’t she doing this for them?

Why act like they were being locked up in some maximum prison?

Nonetheless, she moved on from that issue as she had more important things to do and perhaps the vacation of the students was also a good thing in the process as well.

The machines were getting installed at a speedy rate, and the factory was coming to form.

With it forming speedily like that, what was needed were workers. And she needed to get them as soon as possible if she wanted the factory to run as soon as possible.

So, she went to Ba Susan and told her favorite village chief that she wanted to recruit people. And she was starting with the villagers first.

However, not everyone would have a chance to be hired. As long as they have a good character and possess the traits she wanted, they would have a chance.

Of course, if they fail now, it doesn’t mean that they will fail in the future. There were still many chances of them getting hired in the future. So, no need to stress themselves in the process.

That piece of news soon spread throughout the whole village and even leaked to several villages, making them so envious they wished Calista was from their village as well.

In Nicosa Village, the villagers couldn’t help but spit at the Greens whenever they came across them, especially Benita whom everyone knew loved causing chaos for Calista recently.

If it wasn’t for her, wouldn’t Calista prioritize them as well?

Once upon a time, she was a member of the village as well.

Of course, they completely forgot that they were part of the group that chased Calista out of the village when her husband died. Now they could only see the wrongs of the Greens and none of them.

Meanwhile, in Cropville Village, in the days after the announcement was made, Calista was very busy.

She held the interviews at the building where the lessons were held before.

With the help of Diana, Calista found the work not too suffocating.

Calista requirements weren’t that too much for the villagers.

First, the person seeking the job must at least know how to write his or her name. The handwriting didn’t matter at all. She just needed to read it and understand it.

At the same time, knowing the numbers was very important. This was something that she told Ian when he started the lessons.

There was no need to teach them how to paint or do poetry in her case. As long as they know how to read, write and count, then what more could they want in the beginning?

When time goes on, that can be learnt, but for now, only what matters is what she wants.

And that’s exactly what she tested to all the villagers who came for the interviews in the three days.

All the villagers weren’t proficient and equipped with the skills which she needed. Which was why it didn’t matter what they were good at. She needed people who were quick learners.

They were going to receive lessons as they started working and if they can’t even learn that, what use would she have for them?

This was why she was set on hiring those she found very clever and could adapt easily during this first round of interviews.

With the three days’ worth of exam papers, Calista and Diana became busy once again as they started marking the papers.

The study was filled with laughter, especially from Diana, as she found some hilarious answer sheets which nearly drove her crazy.

Due to the few questions set for the exam takers, the papers didn’t take long for the two of them to mark. In just a day, those who passed were known, and those who failed were also known.

More than three hundred villagers came for the first test and only thirty managed to get a reasonable pass mark.

The pass rate was simply a bit concerning, but when she thought of how long these people had been learning, she couldn’t help but feel proud.

As long as she gave them a bit more time, she was certain that they would pass with flying colors.

Seeing how the results came out, she was encouraged to find a teacher as soon as possible.

She just needed to hire all the staff needed before making that move.

On the day which followed, the villagers gathered, very nervous and anxious about the results.

"How many people do you think will pass this time?"

"Who knows? If we are unlucky, we might all fail!"

"That will be embarrassing if that happens!"

"Ha~~~ I don’t even want to guess!"

The villagers kept on whispering to each other as they waited for Calista to announce the names.

Calista looked at the villagers and felt a headache coming, but this needed to be done.

There was no way to escape from it.

So, she announced the names of those who passed, rendering the villagers speechless with the number of people who had passed.

"Those who passed will be automatically granted jobs from right now. I will appoint you your duties tomorrow according to what I think will suit you the best!" Calista addressed those who had passed first, earning herself a cheerful cheer from them.

She couldn’t help but smile, relieved at hearing that.

Once she was done with them, she started addressing those who had failed.

"Just because you have failed this time doesn’t mean that this is the end. Some came pretty much close to passing, and I have noted your names down. Once the first round ends and the number of staff I need is not yet complete, you will be the first people to be picked!"

When those who failed heard that, they exclaimed excitedly, filled with hope of getting a secure job.

"I hope that the others will fail."

"You are not alone. We can’t have outsiders take our jobs."

"We need to work hard in our studies."

"I finally see the need to study earnestly."

"I see that as well!"
