Chapter 125: Chapter 125: REVEALING THE NEWS 2
"I will never cheat on any partner that gets tied to me. I might lack in many ways, but for this, I am not that loose!" Calista firmly shook her head, disgust written all over her face.
Rather than cheat, it was better to separate and move on. Why waste each other’s time when no longer interested in one another?
"At the same time, while he is the father of my child, this man might not come back into my life again!" suddenly Calista started saying something like this, starting the Dickens family who wasn’t sure of what Calista was doing.
On the other hand, Mammy Lena’s fists were clenched as she had an idea of what Calista was about to say and honestly, she didn’t like it at all.
But what could she do?
She was just a slave and her job at the moment was to serve well and refuting one’s masters wasn’t what servants should do.
So, she could only helplessly watch as Calista care freely, without any stress visible on her face, aired her family’s laundry. Something that most women would never do. They would rather die with the secret than expose themselves to such shaming in the future.
"Calista, what do you want to say?" suddenly Susan, seeing that Calista was about to open her mouth and continue from where she stopped, cut her off with the question.
Ba Susan and Ma Susan seemed to know their daughter’s intention, so they also said in unison.
"Calista, don’t say things that you will regret!"
"Think deeply before you say anything."
But her response was a reassuring smile, which made their hearts sink. It seemed that she was determined to reveal whatever news she was carrying and there was no way to stop it.
Surely, Calista wasn’t willing to let this issue rest here. She wanted to let this news out and get over with it.
Being asked about Orson all the time was driving her crazy, and she wanted these people to stop linking that traitor with her.
"Like I mentioned earlier, he might not be returning. I have tried to keep this news to myself for these few months, but this is something that I can’t continue to hide from myself as time goes on in the future!" with a dejected smile on her face, she said.
"This .... Madam Solace, master Orson ... did he....?"
Calista chuckled faintly, cutting the curious cat which wanted to steal her thunder, shutting him up before she continued, "he is gone. Where he went, I have no idea. So, it’s just me and my baby now. So please don’t ask me about him again. He is gone!" revealing the whole truth, or at least, the main points of the story, to the villagers.
Surely upon hearing that, surprise gasps could be heard from the villagers. Honestly, although some of them had speculations about this matter, they didn’t think that it was truly like this at all.
After all, why should a man leave Madam Calista?
Although she can be a shrew sometimes, it only happens when she is offended.
She was very kind and loved children a lot. She had done so much for them in these years, although they refused to admit it before.
So why leave her?
She was also rich and close friends with the village chief’s family. Wasn’t this enough for a man to stay?
So, hearing her admitting it openly like this, they were all filled with complicated feelings.
Unfortunately, Calista didn’t give them time to ponder further as she opened her mouth again to continue from where she left off.
"With that said, I will move on to the next announcement!" a smile returning to her face.
Why feel sad about things that can’t be salvaged and can’t bring her food to the table?
"As you saw a few days ago, I brought along some friends from afar!" she said excitedly as she looked in the direction where Diana and her acquaintances were currently seated. "These friends had promised me that they would help me with something that this village desperately needs. Aren’t you excited?" she asked as she clapped her hands, sparkles in her eyes.
"What does our village need again?"
"There are so many projects going on at the moment. Which one requires additional help?"
The villagers, unfortunately, were confused and didn’t know what Calista was talking about.
So, Calista could only sigh helplessly before elaborating further to stop wasting more time.
"I promised everyone that before opening the factory, you would undergo training and attend workshops regardless of whether in the future you would be hired or not!" she said as she interlaced her fingers once again. "These dear friends of mine would be helping everyone. At least those who are interested in learning how to read and write. Only when you know this, can it be easier for you to learn more about what I want.
Some of you might even argue that learning requires listening and performing what you have learnt but in my line of work, it doesn’t work like that, at all if you can’t even know the quantity, measurements or weight of what you are going to make. Do you expect me to trust you with so much money and resources?
I don’t ask you to know much but know at least something. This will not be helpful to me only, but to everyone as well. These are free lessons, so take this chance to make a better life for yourself.
When these dear friends continue with their journey, I will continue with the lessons and review you myself. Those with good attitudes will have a chance to be recruited in the factory once it opens, as well as other projects in the future.
If you are lazy to improve yourself, there is no way that I will trust you with my business. I would rather have it closed than waste my money by doing so. So, if you aren’t serious, then don’t bother to come to the lessons.
Only those who wish the best for their lives can come. And talking about this, women and men are all welcome. In my eyes, there is no such gender which is superior. I am a woman as well, so don’t let me hear such whispers about how these hard-working women who had gotten older and wrinkly while taking care of the household don’t qualify to be part of the temporary school.
So, I will be expecting to see everyone. At least those who can manage and when you are free. Kids who are five years and above can come and attend as well since we will be starting from the basics!"
