Chapter 122: Chapter 122: HOUSE COMPLETED

The next day, the clinic opened its doors, and a long queue could be seen of villagers visiting the clinic.

At the clinic, Lisa was busy but very excited. This was the first time that she was actually seeing so many people.

Although many of them weren’t sick, even though she could check them out and diagnose them, she was happy.

The hard work she put into secretly learning medical knowledge and getting harassed day and night when working at the pharmacies and clinics finally was working.

Although she was still lacking in many ways, diagnosing wasn’t that difficult for her. Besides, she still has a thick book which could help her if she ever gets stranded.

Inside the clinic, around ten people were seated in the waiting hall, drinking some warm water that Lisa’s mother and two more servants brought back by Calista were providing for free.

Inside Lisa’s office, another person sat across from her answering questions that Lisa was asking.

These were the basic questions that Calista strictly instructed her to ask to keep records. They can’t treat people without having their records. If they become repeat offenders, i.e., by coming over and over seeking medicine when they aren’t even sick and just pretending, wouldn’t they suffer a loss?

Not only that, but some illnesses tend to reveal themselves with time. So, with records, they would be able to diagnose the problem faster and get the patient quick treatment on time.

"What is your name, madam?"

"When were you born?"

"Are you married?"

"How many kids do you have?"

"Have you ever been sick before?"

"Have there been any illnesses in your family before?"

Lisa asked all sorts of questions as she jotted down the answers on a large piece of paper, which was going to become the woman’s clinical report card in the future.

After answering every question Lisa asked, Lisa would then start diagnosing the people and jot down whatever ailments she diagnosed on the card and advise if no medicine could be disbursed or a prescription if medicine was needed.

As for giving the medicine, Calista was in charge of that for the first few days, so she was busy as well.

With such a long queue, it was normal that not everyone managed to get their bodies checked. Regardless of that, everyone was still optimistic and prayed for more luck the next day.

Fortunately, to avoid others standing in line for days without getting served, Calista had cards prepared in advance. And those who were in the queue, at least the first one hundred people who were unfortunate to not have a chance to be served that day, received these cards.

These cards would give them the benefit of getting served first when the clinic is opened the next day. So, they didn’t have to worry about standing in queue and failing to get served again.

With the cards handed over, the villagers were at ease and sang praises of Calista until they went to bed.

The clinic was obviously busy from the day it opened, and Calista helped in the clinic for only three days before giving the job to others.

The house, the main house, her ranch house, was finally done. How could she have time to serve these villagers with unending ailments tormenting them?

So as soon as she learnt of the news that the floors were dry and the walls painted, Calista couldn’t wait to check the house.

The problem of accommodation had been weighing on her for days. So, hearing the news that the house was completed, she was thrilled.

So, on the fourth day, Calista swaggered all the way to the construction site and felt very pleased.

A wall enclosed the ranch house to separate it from the cottages which the masons would be starting to build now. Those were for guests.

Her reluctance to share her house with strangers forced her to add a few more houses to accommodate them, which wasn’t bad. She didn’t lack the money.

With the house done, Calista decided to check it out, and she wasn’t alone.

Diana and her acquaintances tagged along, wanting to see the finished house, and she couldn’t stop them at all. It didn’t hurt having some company when admiring the fruit of her hard labor.

The ranch house was a five-bedroom house. With the main bedroom, the master’s, her room was the largest room in the house, followed by the family room also known as the living room, or the main hall when using this era’s terms.

Apart from the five bedrooms and the family room, there were other rooms such as the dining, kitchen, pantry, storage, study and library.

The kitchen, dining and pantry were closely placed to each other. With the kitchen and pantry sharing the same wall, after all, the pantry would be the place where food and other kitchen-used items would be stored.

As for the dining room, it was across the living room but next to the kitchen as well. Her kitchen was made into the kind where she could cook without worry this time.

Rather than building another kitchen outside, this time, Calista wanted an indoor kitchen. It was a great hassle to go outside to cook all the time.

Of course, outside, there was the bathroom and toilet. After all, she can’t have these two in the house when there weren’t any drainage systems in her time yet.

Of course, her main bedroom still has an en-suite; with the bathroom having a large tub where three people could fit without any worries, a vanity and a sink for washing hands, brushing her teeth and so forth.

The other bedrooms didn’t have such luxuries at all. If the occupants want to bathe, then go outside and do so.

Touring the rooms, those who tagged along felt very amazed, especially when checking Casita’s bedroom.

Aside from the en-suite, there was the walk-in closet, which was quite enormous with several inbuilt shelves as well.

Next to the bedroom was the study, which awaited to be furnished just like the other rooms.

The pantry had inbuilt shelves, and in the family room, Calista had the fireplace added.

It gets cold sometimes, so having some fire burning in the house would heat up the house. She was planning on using the fireplace as soon as she settled in. Why wear layers of clothing when the wood can do miracles?
