With the guests settled in, Calista found herself back to being a busy bee once again.

With Susan managing the restaurant well, Calista didn’t have much to worry about that business. Rather, there were a lot of projects waiting for her to finish.

The first project she tackled was the clinic.

After buying the female doctor, Lisa, and her mother, the clinic could now be opened without worries.

Winter wasn’t over yet officially and thankfully, not many villagers suffered because of the cold this year. Otherwise, the pressure on her would have been great.

The clinic was fully furnished, so the only remaining thing to do was to open it.

After taking a closer look at the clinic, Calista didn’t have Lisa and her mother settled in at the clinic. After all, there weren’t any suitable rooms for them to stay.

With the three rooms having their uses, Calista settled the two temporarily at the dorms with the others. Until the house is fully furnished, her people would have to temporarily stay at the dorms.

With everything in order, Calista talked with Ba Susan and set the next day as the official opening of the clinic.

Calista didn’t want to delay any further. Since she wasn’t busy and disbursing medicine to the people was of greater importance, having a day to prepare for the opening was all that was needed.

Especially when everyone was going to be involved.

So, on the day after Calista’s return, the village gong sounded once more, forcing everyone to gather at the village hall for further instructions.

That morning, Ba Susan informed everyone of Calista’s decision to open the clinic the next day and also encouraged everyone to participate in the ceremony.

The ceremony was actually quite simple. Since they were opening a clinic, seeking blessings from the deities, especially the god and goddess of life, who gave people’s lives and their health was a must.

So, a ceremony was needed to be done to let these blessings descend on them. That was more so when they didn’t have a professional doctor at their beck and call.

While Lisa might have some knowledge, she wasn’t a full doctor, so she wasn’t able to do much.

With everyone aware of what was needed, they all returned to their respective chores with smiles on their faces.

Calista, on the other hand, didn’t have time to rest but spent the whole day gathering the ceremonial items needed to officiate the ceremony. Which was basically food and ritual candles.

She had those purchased when she went to Liresa City, and she was prepared.

The next day, everyone gathered in the evening for the ceremony. The clinic was decorated with flowers and an altar had been built to temporarily offer prayers to the deities for their blessings.

At the altar, three pig heads were offered alongside some bland food, like vegetables, blanched without any oil or salt in it.

Colorful candles were lit up, flickering as the wind casually blew them, threatening to blow them out.

On the other hand, all the villagers stood wearing their best clothing, while people like Calista and Ba Susan wore special ceremonial robes. The kind that can be worn when worshiping any deity.

Villagers and peasants were poor, so they literally used one ceremonial robe to worship all the deities that they worship without feeling any guilt.

As Calista was the one who opened the clinic for everyone, she didn’t have a choice but to force herself to wear the robe this time.

When she opened the restaurant, she forgoes the ceremony and yet this time because it involved everyone in the village but customs; she didn’t have a choice but to do so.

The ceremony lasted for hours, with everyone praying earnestly and seeking blessings. After the commotion, the ceremony finally came to an end, and all the food prepared for the deities was then given to all the elders of the village.

That was another custom, though Calista simply felt that it was a way of providing the elders with some free food. It was tough for these elders.

Nevertheless, she didn’t mind about this. After all, she didn’t lack this small amount.

So, when the ceremony was done, the food was ceremoniously shared among all the elders in the village, inciting a round of ululations and whistling.

With the blessings sought, it meant that the clinic could officially be opened.

Before everyone dispersed, Calista who wore the colorful ceremonial stood in front of the hundred villagers and gave a speech, rather than informing them something.

"Thank you once again for attending and participating in the ceremony!" with a grateful smile on her face, she said. "Since this part is done, the next part will commence tomorrow. I said it before. I will build a clinic for the villagers and I hope that with this, we won’t suffer when we get sick.

To all Cropville villagers, you will be able to get basic medication for free. However, if anyone tries to take advantage of this, then pardon me, I will have you blacklisted. So do whatever you do righteously and don’t sabotage yourself because of greed.

I also want to announce that your fellow relatives from other villages are welcome as well. Remember, we only provide the basic treatment and nothing else. We don’t have such abilities at the moment. For outsiders, the clinic would charge a fair amount for the medicine. Please be clear when you share this news.

I am not that too much of a saint to benefit other people who haven’t done much for me. So don’t be too complacent, thinking that I will tolerate anything just because they are your relatives or friends. Of course, this service isn’t just for relatives, but for all villages out there.

Our clinic would be open to everyone. So, follow the instructions and let us all work together. Don’t make me lose my temper on you. Just because I have been quiet doesn’t mean that my manners suddenly returned.

If you try me, I will give you what you want. So, I beg of you everyone, let us work together well. If you cause problems for me, hehe!" suddenly she laughed sinisterly as she glanced at the silent villagers, listening to her, "I will blacklist you from getting work from me again. So, think carefully if your tricks now can help your family in the future."
