Volume 15 Chapter 48: The Queen And The Concubine
“…” Rheagon's comment made the rest to pause and ponder for a moment.
Alastair wanted to meet with Keith? Why would he want to meet with him? It was the oddest thing since Alastair was the one asking. Keith nodded as he followed Rhaegon, albeit the dark look Scarlet had as she watched him go.
"Your majesty, I've brought him." Rhaegon entered the room. Alastair nodded as he commented, “I want to thank you for assisting and protecting my family.” There was no need for Keith to come there, but he had chosen to do so without a thought. If he had entered a few minutes later, Alastair wouldn't have been alive.
"I did what I should have done."
“But I refuse to allow you to marry into the family.”
“Eh?”
"I refuse to allow you to marry my daughter." Alastair's eyes were calm as he declared, "You may have saved my life, but marrying my daughter is another matter."
"...Understood." Keith blinked and sighed, “Besides that, Rhaegon made a request, so I’m going to continue to cook for you.”
"...You can do so." But the outcome won't change.
Keith sighed as he walked out of there.
…
“You have got to be kidding me?!” Keith roared as he held his head. He couldn’t believe it. Eri and the others could only watch as Keith was about to lose it! How could this be possible? Each time he cooked for Alastair, the man would reject it! He had brought the food to his office, and he saw the king's expression. Stone-cold. There was no reaction at all! That was what Rhaegon meant! He said before he wasn't going to give up, but the king was giving him a run for his money!
“Child, are you alright?” But as Elyndra asked this, there was no need to. Those dark eyes were enough to give her an idea of what had happened. Keith could only massage between his eyes, “Sorry about showing you such a wretched sight.”
Elyndra shook her head, “It’s our fault as well.” The entire reason why he was acting like this was that he was helping out Alastair. But knowing her husband, there was something wrong with him in general.
“But what kinds of foods did he eat before?” Keith was curious now. He was going at this in the wrong way. Instead of trying to make foods that fit his category, he should be making foods the demon liked. A memory that would hit his tastebuds, making him remember everything.
Elyndra thought about it, “I don’t think he has a food that he would like.” She had never seen him eat food happily. But then a thought came to her, “Oh, I do know of one he usually ate, and there would be a happy smile on his face.”
“Hmm? What would that be?”
“It was something
“A flower?” Keith thought about it.
“Mmhmm.”
“By the way, aren’t you supposed to hate one another?” That was something that had been on his mind as he talked with her. The concubine and the queen. It was a relationship that everyone could think of. There should be a lot of tension between the two; this was something he saw firsthand. Thalia did not get along with the other wives Julius had. It was the same situation that had occurred with the others. They were all eyeing down the spot as the queen.
“No, Fioreal and I didn’t have that relationship.” A warm smile slowly emerged as Elyndra reminisced, “Alastair and Fioreal were wedded long before I joined. However, her rank wasn’t enough.”
“Hmm?”
