Volume 15 Chapter 29: Chances

“What?! He attacked Eri?! Are you kidding me?!” Tharaziel's eyes widened as he dropped his spoon. He was eating with Lilith, Elyndra, and Scarlet.

“How is Eri?” Elyndra asked.

Lilith shook her head, "She reacted like a lady. She understood what was going on and decided not to make a big fuss." Eri had a keen sense of the situation and understood it would trouble Keith if she cried. However, that didn't make Lilith feel proud or happy at all.

“I see…” The others were not faring any better.

“...” Scarlet was staring aimlessly.

"That bastard! He can never marry into the family!" There were limits. Eri probably didn't attack him, either. From how meek the child acted, she would never do something like this.

“Mother-in-law, I will have some guards for you.” Elyndra found it quite distasteful. That was the first and last time it happened.

“Oh, have you taken a liking to her?” She was a soft and cuddly child.

“She’s cute,” Elyndra said no more. That was more than enough. While that was happening, Keith was helping Eri out with her injuries.

“Eri! You have a battle scar now! You look so cool!” Fira chimed. She was trying her best to cheer the child up in any way, making the mood better.

"Papa, do I look cool?" Eri stared at Keith. Her cheek was slightly bruised. But Keith quickly used ice magic and other healing ingredients to heal most of it. There was only slight redness.

"...You look cool." Keith sighed. But then he rubbed her head and hugged her tightly.

"You were a good girl, Eri."

"Mmhmm." Eri snuggled into Keith's chest. Keith smiled, "Now, let's go to sleep."

"Okay." Eri and the others obediently nodded as they pulled the blankets up and went to bed. Keith didn't go to bed like them and stroked Eri's cheek.

“What were you thinking doing something like that?” Sarthos stared at Draezar. That was something he didn’t expect; his son was foolish, but to do something to that extent.

“What? It’s just to antagonize him a bit.” Draezar laughed as he sipped on his drinks. “Well, he was strong. But he can’t rival me.” There was a win on his part. Draezar was able to feel for Keith’s strength. Being angry would make anyone reveal their strength. This was true even for Keith.

“He wasn’t that strong.” He was holding back in the tournament. Knowing how strong he was, the demon understood his chances of winning.

“Woah! I lose.” Keith fell on his butt as he stared at Valgros. The demon grinned, "You could've beaten me." It was a neck and neck spar. Either one could have won.

“Are you sure I can be here?” Valgros was surprised that Keith would call him over to the barracks.

Keith shook, “Of course, I need you here. You’re the perfect sparring partner to tune my body.” Sparring was the best way to get his body conditioned. What better way than to ask this demon?

"That's true." Valgros chuckled. He would've done the same if he won. He glanced around, "Where is the prince? Didn't you say he would be here today?"

Keith looked at him weirdly, “Oh, yeah. You were here as a knight.” This guy was a knight in training before becoming a warrior. “I wonder how much stronger he has gotten.”

“He’s doing pretty good. But I don’t know how he was in the beginning.”

“He was horrible.” Valgros laughed, “And when I mean horrible, I mean horrible. He couldn’t even swing a sword properly. He would fall to the ground from the weight of an iron sword.”

“...” Should you be telling me this? He basically spilled all the dark history of Tharaziel.

“Oh, you've gotten better little one. How are you?” Valgros smiled as he spotted the little fox. He was relieved to see the child walking so cheerfully.

He continued to spar with Keith before he asked, “Who do you think is going to win this battle?”

“Hate it, but Draezar.” Keith loathed the demon, but his strength was unquestionable. On the other side was the masked man. However, from what he showed, Draezar was still superior. Valgros was silent, but he knew the winner of this match was going to be that demon.

“The masked man isn’t going to be enough to defeat him.” There was a distinction between the two. However, "He might make a mistake during that fight.” Draezar wasn’t exactly the normal type of fighter. Cocky and arrogant; if the other person had the chance, it would be when Draezar being cocky.
