Chapter 669: Chapter 513: The Second Imperial Coffin
As Su Yu stomped his foot, the surge of power within him caused a seismic rumbling, toppling the fifty-meter-tall "Jellyfish Tree". The surface of the floating island split open, revealing cracks.
The destructive power of his foot even startled Su Yu himself. Following this, a faint monstrous roar echoed from beneath the island. They then saw large amounts of seawater gushing from the cracks at the base of the tree that Su Yu had trampled.
Had Su Yu’s foot shock actually cracked open this floating island? The seawater immediately flooded up.
"Are you kidding?" Even Su Yu was a bit flabbergasted. Ada shot him a glance, blaming him for not controlling his power.
Seeing the surrounding area flooded with water, and hearing a second terrifying roar, Su Yu and the others finally realized that there was indeed a ghastly creature bellowing beneath the floating island.
"Let’s go take a look." Su Yu narrowed his eyes slightly.
He feared no trouble. Instead, he was curious. He’d found a fragment of iron at the base of the tree, and now there was a faint roar echoing from beneath the island. He couldn’t help but hope these were related.
While speaking, Su Yu turned to Meng Ting and said, "This might be dangerous. Why don’t you let Dragon Kid take you back? I can handle the rest myself." As he spoke, he jumped into the crack he’d stomped open, quickly submerging himself in the rush of water within.
"No, take me with you." Biting her lip, Meng Ting followed Su Yu’s example and jumped into the crack, holding her breath.
Looking back and seeing Meng Ting had also jumped in, Su Yu shook his head. In this situation, he couldn’t do anything but dive deeper into the crack, constantly channeling his internal power to strike another blow and enlarge the bottom of the fissure. The roaring sound from below became even more pronounced.
As they descended, they could see the roots of the "Jellyfish Tree" everywhere. The deeper the roots, the more transparent they became, appearing exceptionally mystical. Soon, Meng Ting, who was following Su Yu, found herself in a rather magical place, following the fissure and being engulfed by the current.
This place was filled with water. They could infer that they had entered the seawater beneath the floating island. Within this seawater, they could see the transparent roots of the "Jellyfish Tree". These transparent roots intertwined with each other, emitting a faint luminescence; they crisscrossed in the vast waters.
Su Yu motioned for Meng Ting to continue diving. The underwater roaring grew louder. It sounded like a terrifying trapped beast, or perhaps an ancient monster that had just awoken and was desperately trying to break free, but was hindered by an unknown force, continuously roaring and struggling.
Looking around, they saw transparent roots stretching down and entwining with each other. As Su Yu and Meng Ting dove deeper, these roots gradually all tangled together at the bottom, forming something like a massive nest where an ancient coffin sat. Right now, the terrifying monster-like roar was emerging from this coffin.
When Su Yu saw the coffin, he inhaled sharply. It was almost immediately apparent to him that this was the Imperial Coffin, identical to the one he had seen in the Demon Beast Forest that had contained a wooden head.
As they grew closer, the terrifying roars emerging from the coffin grew more distinct. The coffin was shaking as if something monstrous was struggling within, eager to break free and descend upon the world but was unable to break through.
Seeing the coffin and the apparent struggle from within, Meng Ting’s face held a hint of fear. This was beyond her imagination. When she looked up, she could see transparent roots shooting upwards, eventually forming a massive, cocoon-like structure in the deep waters. Above this was a floating island. She finally understood that this floating island was in fact held aloft by countless intertwined transparent roots. The violent stomping by Su Yu had damaged numerous roots, causing the floating island to crack and the "Jellyfish Tree" to topple.
Su Yu and Ada exchanged a glance. The daunting aura from within the coffin was making even Su Yu feel a chill. There was some hesitance now. Was this coffin possibly housing the other five parts of the wooden figure found in the Imperial Coffin? And why did it feel like it was holding some terrifying creature? A creature that was now awakened and struggling furiously.
This coffin was somewhat different from the one Su Yu had found in the ruins of the Shrine. At first glance, it was clearly sealed with strange yellow papers inscribed with characters Su Yu couldn’t understand. He had a hunch that these papers were some special form of seal, preventing whatever was inside the coffin from escaping despite its furious struggles.
In the center of the coffin, there was a small groove. Judging by its shape, Su Yu could tell that this was meant for the shards of black iron that Meng Ting and the others had excavated from the tree roots.
Feeling the coffin’s tremors and the daunting aura emanating from it, Su Yu hesitated a moment before reaching out to grab the coffin and start ascending.
Su Yu did not immediately retrieve the black iron fragment to open the stone coffin but first moved the coffin out.
Meng Ting followed behind Su Yu. The two of them worked together, quickly retracing their steps. They transported the stone coffin back to the part of the floating island which was already half submerged in seawater.
Coming up for air, Su Yu emerged from the water and said, "Meng Ting, I need to immediately return to Black Iron City. Thank you for your help this time. This coffin is important to us. You should return to Freedom Town."
A touch of disappointment flashed in Meng Ting’s eyes. However, she had no reason to keep Su Yu, and nodded. She couldn’t help but ask, "Su Yu, can you tell me what this coffin is about?"
Su Yu thought about it and said, "I have a friend with a mysterious background. His body was divided into six parts, each buried in a coffin like this one. I suspect what’s in this coffin is a part of his body, but I can’t say for sure at the moment. I need to immediately return to Black Iron City and make sure he verifies it."
Upon hearing Su Yu’s explanation, a baffled look appeared on Meng Ting’s face. After a moment of thought, she nodded and said, "I understand." By now, the Dragon Kid on her shoulder had become larger and was floating above the water. Meng Ting looked unwillingly at Su Yu.
Su Yu gave her a slight smile, then took out the City Lord’s Seal. He was about to activate it but decided against it. Instead, with both hands, he lifted the stone coffin.
The terrifying sound emanating from within the coffin continued to rumble. If it weren’t for Su Yu’s strength, another person might not have been able to hold onto the coffin.
"Alright, let me take you back to Freedom Town," Su Yu had originally planned to return to Black Iron City as soon as possible, but his worry over Meng Ting made him decide to take her back to Freedom Town first.
Meng Ting, who was feeling rather down, was overjoyed at his words. But, after some thought, she shook her head and said, "If you have urgent matters, you better go back first. There’s no danger here. After reaching the first tier of the elemental space with the Dragon Kid, we can directly transport back to Freedom Town." Even though she wanted Su Yu to take her back to Freedom Town, she didn’t wish Su Yu to view her as troublesome.
While bidding Su Yu farewell with a laugh and a wave, the Dragon Kid let out a long cry towards Su Yu and Ada, "Until we meet again..." With that, he leaped out, hovering above the water surface and disappearing in an instant.
Watching Meng Ting vanish in the blink of an eye, Ada chuckled and jumped down, immediately becoming massive. "Come on," Ada beckoned, and Su Yu mounted, the stone coffin on his back. Ada then raced after the Dragon Kid.
Ada knew Su Yu would be anxious until he saw Meng Ting return safely.
On Ada’s back, Su Yu closely followed the Dragon Kid until it disappeared into the vortex that led to the first tier of the elemental space. Only then did Su Yu heave a sigh of relief.
As soon as Meng Ting and the Dragon Kid entered the first elemental layer, they could instantly summon the Heavenly Pit Power to return to Freedom Town, so they wouldn’t be in any danger.
Only then did Su Yu finally take out the City Lord’s Seal. A radiant white light spread out, Su Yu disappeared from the second layer of the Water Element Space, directly returning to Black Iron City.
Category 5 lifeforms had to reach the first layer of the Sixth Elemental Space to summon the Heavenly Pit Power, but Su Yu’s City Lord Seal could directly transport him back to Black Iron City.
The roar from inside the coffin continued non-stop. Terrifying power leaked out from the inside. It took an enormous amount of strength for Su Yu to stabilize the colossal coffin and, using the summoning power of the City Lord’s Seal, he transported himself, carrying the gigantic coffin on his back, directly in front of the grand hall at Black Iron City.
Just as Su Yu appeared, the terrifying roar made everyone in Black Iron City startled.
"What’s going on?" People began to flock towards them. Su Yu remained silent and, carrying the giant coffin, rushed into the palace. Then he yelled, "Wooden Creature, come quickly!"
The Wooden Creature seemed to sense something and arrived in a few giant strides. His eyes grew wide as he stared at the giant coffin on Su Yu’s back. (To be continued. More Chapters are available. Visit www.qidian.com. Support the author by reading the Chapters online!)
