Chapter 601: Chapter 463: Indestructible Body (Second Update)
The head sighed, "A tiger forced to hunt sheep, a dragon trapped in a shallow pool, what’s there to be picky about now? We have to make do, for now." As he spoke, the head jumped with a "grunt" and landed steadily on this wooden figure without a head. Soon, the wooden arms and legs of the figure could move. Su Yu noticed that underneath the head, there was a faint golden glow spreading to the figure’s body, which then made it move like a normal person.
The head controlled the wooden body, swaying its arms and kicking its legs to get used to it, then laughed, "Not bad, not bad. Although it’s not as good as my real body, it’s better than nothing."
Lei Leian stared in bewilderment, finding the situation quite funny, she laughed, "Mr. Head, you seem quite powerful, able to use any wooden framework as a body."
The head looked pleased, "These are just small tricks, nothing strange. You kids really lack experience, everything fascinating you."
Lei Leian snapped, "If you’re so capable, where are we? And where is the Tears of Timis?"
Hearing Lei Leian’s question, the head pondered, raising its very rough wooden hand to touch its chin, only to prick it, then blurted out, "Su Yu, your wooden hand is way too rough. It hasn’t been smoothed yet. Fix it and while you’re at it, make five slender sticks into fingers. If you attach them, I could use them as fingers."
Su Yu smiled and said, "Alright." He borrowed a sharp knife from Lei Leian, and made the fingers as per the head’s request. The head then used the slender wooden fingers to touch its chin returning a satisfied look. Lei Leian suggested, "Mr. Head, if you’re so particular about it, why not find an animal or human corpse for you to use? It would be better than this temporary wooden body."
The head shook, "Trees are first-class organisms, they have no spirit, and therefore I can use them. Animals or humans have spirits and using them could taint my divine nature with their souls. So, neither animal bodies nor human bodies are suitable for my head. Only the dead wood is fine."
Su Yu and Lei Leian looked at each other, this head was really audacious, claiming that their bodies were not good enough for its head.
Lei Leian wanted to talk back, but the head went on, "You just asked about where we are... I honestly don’t know. However, the Tears of Timis... should be over there. The tears that Timis shed..." As the head spoke, it suddenly seemed to drift away, its face revealing an inexplicable sadness.
Lei Leian had lost her bearing and had no idea where to find the Tears of Timis. Hearing the head’s direction, she got excited, "Mr. Head, are you sure? You’re not just pointing randomly, are you?"
The head looked a bit displeased, "Why would I trick a little girl? Follow me, and I assure you, we will find the place where the Tears of Timis flow." After saying this, the head didn’t stop, but immediately set off toward the direction it had indicated.
"Hey, slow down, wait for us—" Lei Leian cried out.
She didn’t get to take down her tent. Seeing the head moving off rapidly without a word, she had no choice but to leave the tent behind, pulled Su Yu, and ran after it.
At this moment, she couldn’t find the "Tears of Timis". This guy claims to know where to find it, and though she wasn’t sure about its credibility, they had to follow it, hoping for the best.
Lei Leian, Su Yu, and the little girl Feng’er followed closely from behind. The group soon left the shrine.
They had been walking for two days, and on the third day, the leading head said proudly, "Beth Finley, you see, I did not lie. Once you climb over this hill, you will be able to the Tears of Timis."
Lei Leian said in disgust, "Mr. Head, how many times do I have to tell you? I’m Lei Leian, not Beth Finley. Do you have memory issues?"
The head casually replied, "Whether I call you Beth Finley or Lei Leian, it doesn’t make a difference." It seemed like he said it offhandedly, but when Ada heard it, he had a slight movement in his heart, and couldn’t help but look at Lei Leian, as a vague idea popped up in his mind.
At this moment, what appeared before them was a strange, stubby hill. Even though it wasn’t tall, the hilltop was shrouded in thick clouds, obscuring the sky. When Lei Leian saw this hill, she cheered. She may have forgotten how to find the Tears of Timis, but she still remembered the hill. As she saw the hill, she understood that the Tears of Timis was on top of it. They had finally found the "Tears of Timis".
The group ascended the small hill. The hill was not very tall and before long, Su Yu, Lei Leian, Yeoman, and the little girl Feng’er had reached the top of the hill.
At the peak of the hill was a Heavenly Pond, from which a spring water, looked like a waterfall tumbling down, flowed into the pond. The water of this Heavenly Pond was said to be the Tears of Timis.
From a distance, Su Yu stared at the Heavenly Pond, totally taken aback. He had never imagined that the legendary "Tears of Timis" would appear to be such ordinary pond water. The only enigmatic element was the mist-covered water in this Heavenly Pond. How could there be a spring flowing relentlessly into the pond? Yet, the water in the Heavenly Pond never ran dry, nor overflowed, but maintained a balance.
When they reached the top of the hill, Lei Leian was about to celebrate their arrival but was suddenly stunned. There was already someone standing by the pond, much ahead of them.
A woman in her thirties, dressed in white, stood by the pond. With her right hand, she was holding onto something submerged in the pond. Because the pond was enveloped by mist, no one could clearly make out what she was holding from a distance.
Lei Leian, Su Yu and the others were taken aback upon seeing another person at the Heavenly Pond. The yeoman strode up to the woman in white and said, "Oh, I see."
The woman in white hadn’t expected other outsiders to arrive here. She turned her wary eyes toward them. Seeing the yeoman stepping up to her unexpectedly, she instinctively lifted her left hand, almost to strike.
At this point, Su Yu and the others had come close enough to see clearly that the woman was holding a boy’s ankle and had him dipped upside down in the Heavenly Pond water.
Judging by the boy’s appearance in the Heavenly Pond’s water, he was not much older than the little girl Feng’er.
Quietly, Su Yu activated the "Perception Eye". He was shocked to sense that the boy who was being dipped into the Heavenly Pond by the woman in white was a Sixth-order Black Iron Warrior.
It was unheard-of that a boy no more than five or six years old could reach the realm of a Sixth-order Black Iron Warrior.
Seeing the startled expression on Su Yu’s face, Lei Leian whispered, "According to the legend, beneath this Heavenly Pond is an abyss with no end, and the Tears of Timis are so heavy that even a feather cannot float on them. Thus, the immersion process requires someone to hold onto the person being immersed. When I was very young, my father brought me here to be immersed just like this."
Now Su Yu understood. The woman in white was, just like Lei Leian’s father in the past, holding the boy in order for his entire body to be immersed into the Tears of Timis.
Lei Leian had mentioned earlier that the Tears of Timis held incredible power. If immersed in the tears at a young age and its powers were fully absorbed, the individual would be dared with the Power of Rules, highly protected. Thus, it’s not an exaggeration to call it the Indestructible Body. However, immersion after reaching adulthood, like in Su Yu’s case, does not result in the same effects.
After hearing this, Su Yu felt a twinge of regret.
The woman in white, of course, wanted to immerse her child to obtain an Indestructible Body. The sight of strangers arriving at a crucial moment made her anxious. The immersion had to be successful once, and only once. A second attempt would be futile.
The yeoman stood next to the woman in white and peered down at the boy immersed in the Heavenly Pond. The boy had been holding his breath while submerged. Hearing voices outside, the boy, after all, was only a child. He panicked and swallowed gulps of water with a "gulp" sound.
The Tears of Timis were meant to immerse in, not to drink. The woman in white was desperate, despite having no other choice, she had to quickly pull the boy out of the water. She then placed her hand on his chest and pushed, making the boy spit out the water he’d swallowed.
The yeoman shook his head with regret. "What a pity," he sighed. "This little guy failed to hold his breath. If he could have stayed under for a day or a night, he could have grown up to have an Indestructible Body."
After squeezing out all the water the boy had swallowed, the woman in white realized that her son’s chance of getting the Indestructible Body was ruined. This disaster was caused by the yeoman’s sudden approach and interruption. Now, hearing the yeoman’s words of regret, felt like adding insult to injury to the woman in white.
