Chapter 467: Chapter 364: The Disappeared Ancient Mammoth (Second Update)

Above the Ice City rested a gigantic skull resembling an ice sculpture. This skull was so massive that it spanned the sky, standing erect in place. The position of the Ice City corresponded to that of the skull’s mouth, and the city, the iceberg beneath it, the vast iced sculpture above, and the two dark cavities, all combined to form an enormous skull.

"I... I didn’t sense that..." Ada was taken aback, but quickly calmed down seeing the Skull Ice City that truly exceeded her expectations. What was most troublesome was the proximity of the "Water of the Netherworld" she sensed to the distant Skull Ice City.

When Ada revealed this information to Su Yu, he considered it deeply. Since entering this world, this was the first time Su Yu encountered such a large and grand city architecture-the likes of Freedom Village and Wangdi Village were utterly incomparable.

"Ada, do you think that Ice City could be one of the rumored ’Ten Great Giant Cities’?" Suddenly, a thought struck Su Yu, and he asked.

Ada shook her head, saying, "I don’t think so. I don’t know what the Ten Great Giant Cities of this era are... However, this Skull Ice City, despite its extraordinary nature, still falls short of the Ten Great Giant Cities from the previous era."

Su Yu was secretly surprised, not expecting such a spectacular Ice City was nowhere near the "Ten Great Giant Cities". He held even higher regard for the legendary Ten Great Giant Cities that supposedly dominated the entire Black Iron World.

"Ada, how close is that ’Water of the Netherworld’ you sensed to the Ice City?" Su Yu asked casually while estimating the distance.

"I can’t be sure right now, we’ll only know when we get closer." A hint of distress appeared on Ada’s face.

The mysterious Skull Ice City was grand and radiated a sense of creepy wickedness. Both Ada and Su Yu’s first instinct was to steer clear of ruffling the Skull Ice City or having any involvement with it.

"Who would have thought that there are humans residing in that Ice City, where it is likely freezing all year round..." Su Yu sighed, and then, hailing Doudou, he slid down the iceberg with Ada.

Although the Skull Ice City was visible from afar, Su Yu was still at a considerable distance from it. Even Ada could not pinpoint the exact location of the "Water of the Netherworld", but vaguely sensed that it was very near to the position of the Skull Ice City.

"Su Yu, be careful and try not to disturb the Skull Ice City..." Ada paused slightly before continuing, "... also, not all the residents in such an Ice City are necessarily humans."

Su Yu looked at Ada in surprise.

Ada reminded, "Don’t forget that humans are only Third Class Creatures. There are many races in this world that can rival or even surpass your kind. It’s not only humans that can build cities."

Su Yu nodded and once again looked into the distance at the grand Skull Ice City. Ada’s words just now filled him with an even greater sense of curiosity and mystery towards the Skull Ice City. What kind of beings could possibly live in the Ice City? Could it be a gathering place for modern humans, like himself, who fell into this world because of the "heavenly pit"? Or were they the original inhabitants of this world? Or even... the result of a high IQ race beyond their imagination?

His increasing curiosity made Su Yu more cautious, as he concealed his aura and released "Radar Waves" periodically. With Doudou following Ada’s instructions, they approached the grand and mysterious Skull Ice City.

As they got closer, the grandeur of the Skull Ice City became even more palpable to Su Yu. From his perspective, the Skull Ice Layer combined with the icebergs beneath it reached nearly a thousand meters high. The world was eerily quiet and everywhere seemed desolate, with not a trace of human presence.

The closer they got, the more startled Su Yu became by the Skull Ice City. Ada’s puzzled expression also deepened until she finally exclaimed, "Something’s not right... there is no sign of life inside the Ice City."

Shocked, Su Yu turned to look at her. Ada confidently stated, "I am absolutely sure about this. This Ice City is a Dead City; there isn’t a single living being inside."

Upon hearing Ada’s words, Su Yu was stunned. The effort and intelligence needed to construct such a grand city must have been colossal. And now, upon hearing Ada’s revelation that not a single sign of life was present and that this was a Dead City, he was dumbstruck.

Initially, Su Yu wanted to avoid this Skull Ice City to sidestep any potential complications. However, upon learning that nothing living was inside, his curiosity was piqued, and the tension he previously felt ebbed away slightly. They had been moving through a seemingly lifeless world, and in the icy, snowy landscape, there should have been creatures adapted to such conditions - yet, all they witnessed was desolation.

"Let’s go and take a look." Su Yu called out to Diu Diu, and started dashing towards the magnificent Skeleton Ice City, meanwhile asking, "Ada, can you sense the Water of the Netherworld?"

"Yes, I’m now sure that the Water of the Netherworld should be at the center of the Ice City." Ada’s intuition was beyond comprehension. Su Yu did not doubt her judgment at all and immediately began to sprint faster. Even Diu Diu was panting heavily as it ran along, occasionally looking up to marvel at the grandeur of the Ice City.

Only when they got closer could they truly feel the vastness of the Ice City. Su Yu felt like a child who had accidentally stumbled upon a giant’s kingdom. He looked around at the gigantic ice steps and the towering ice walls that stretched over thirty meters high, and couldn’t help but feel speechless.

"Huh? That is..." Suddenly, Ada pointed, and Su Yu saw a line of characters engraved on a huge ice wall facing them. The characters seemed somewhat like Latin, but also not quite. Just when he was taken aback, Ada exclaimed in astonishment: "Cyrillic? Igloo? Could... could this be the world of ice houses called Igloos? Could this ice city have been left by the Eskimos?"

"Eskimos?" Su Yu felt a chill, the familiar name quickly reminded him of the tribe said to be the strongest, most tenacious, bravest, and most resilient, living in the harshest glacier world. This tribe was known as the Eskimos.

At this moment, in this world, hearing Ada mention the Eskimos and the colossal ice city they left behind seemed inconceivable to Su Yu, and he couldn’t help but ask, "How is that possible?"

"In the previous era, many disappeared ethnic groups and races have left their marks and seeds in this world, and the Eskimos are no exception. But the word ’Igloo’ on this ice wall is indeed the ice house that only the Eskimos have ever created. Let’s go in and take a look."

Entering this grand Ice City, Su Yu saw towering ice sculptures serving as structures all around. Their beauty was indescribable, but one thing remained unchanged – the deafening silence in the Ice City.

Ada led Su Yu and Diu Diu around for a bit. Despite the awe-inspiring structures in the Ice City, they found no traces of life or any significant discovery.

"It seems that this is indeed just an abandoned city, there aren’t even any remains. Who knows what happened here?" Ada muttered sulkily.

After a moment of silence, Su Yu suggested, "Maybe this Ice City was once populated by humans or other creatures, but due to some disaster, everybody was forced to relocate elsewhere, leaving this city abandoned."

Although the Ice City was extremely spectacular and beautiful, the fact that it was completely deserted quickly wore off Su Yu and Ada’s interest in further exploration.

"Let’s go find the ’Water of the Netherworld’."

With a swift leap, Ada expanded her size and started bounding close to the icy ground.

Both Su Yu and Diu Diu hurriedly followed. Diu Diu even let out a few frenzied barks, carefully observing the city as it ran. When they first arrived at the Skeleton Ice City, neither of them dared to make a noise. But when they realized the city was abandoned, Diu Diu freely barked away, even occasionally urinating at the base of the ice sculptures, as if marking its territory.

This Ice City was vast, and according to Ada’s senses, the location of the ’Water of the Netherworld’ should be at the city center. By the time they arrived at the center of the city, Ada suddenly gasped, halting to a stop.

The architecture around the city was undoubtedly extraordinary, but there was not a single structure in the center of the city. Instead, there were numerous densely packed ice sculptures.

The sculptures were divided into human-shaped and beast-shaped ice sculptures. Among the human-shaped sculptures were males, females, old, young, and even ones wielding weapons like spears and swords. The beast-shaped sculptures included a mammoth-like sculpture that was about the size of a real-life elephant, sculptures resembling saber-toothed tigers with foot-long teeth, and many more that Su Yu had never seen before.

As Su Yu, Ada, and Diu Diu wandered amongst these lifelike ice sculptures, their faces were full of astonishment. Even Diu Diu, the one with the least intellect, showed signs of surprise in his eyes.

Su Yu stood under a mammoth-like ice sculpture, lifting his head he noted it resembled a real-life elephant but was significantly larger and sturdier. Its curving tusks stretched out, looking vicious.

"This is called a Mammoth, an ancient creature that existed tens of thousands of years ago but has long been extinct... I didn’t expect to see its sculpture in this Ice City." Ada expressed her amazement as they passed endless ice sculptures, and finally, they reached the very center of the Ice city.
