Chapter 266: Chapter 219: The Stone Pillar Reaching the Sky
Su Yu and Ada headed in the direction indicated by Ada, chatting idly while running at breakneck speed. Just when Su Yu asked what the number "8" appearing on his chest represented, his face suddenly stiffened and he came to an abrupt halt.
Between large boulders not far ahead, the ground was littered with blood and chaos. In the sea of blood lay an ugly creature, its body the color of earth, toppled in the pool of blood. Perched on this yellow creature was a humanoid beast, tearing into the skin and flesh of the creature underneath, consuming its flesh in a gruesome sight.
"Ning Yan?" Su Yu’s mind was struck with horror. The humanoid beast ripping into the monster was Ning Yan.
Looking at Ning Yan gnawing at the creature, Su Yu could not resist shouting in surprise.
The humanoid tearing into the creature heard Su Yu’s yell, jolted, and hastily stood up, turning to run away.
"Ning Yan, wait!" Su Yu roared, bursting into action.
Su Yu was shocked by the scene just now. Was this how Ning Yan had been surviving - by consuming the flesh of other creatures? Seeing Ning Yan’s scenes of raw flesh-eating and blood-sucking, present Ning Yan seemed to have thoroughly transformed into a real monster, body and soul.
Su Yu roared, the Golden Blood power inside his right palm finally activated. Golden lines spread all around his body, concentrating in his legs. In an instant, his speed increased exponentially, and he rushed forward, covering the distance of a hundred meters in the blink of an eye and blocking the way of the humanoid monster.
The humanoid monster, its mouth full of the earthy yellow creature’s fresh blood, had a face resembling Ning Yan, but it was pale, covered in devilish patterns. A bloodthirsty and ferocious look appeared on its face. Suddenly, it extended its arms, and black demon claws swiped towards Su Yu.
Su Yu felt a terrifying whistling wind. Though the demon claws had not reached him yet, the resultant pressure made his skin feel like it was tearing.
"Ning Yan, it’s me!" Su Yu roared, his body swelling suddenly, and a series of "hiss" sounds were heard. Spiky black protrusions sprouted from the back of his head, and in an instant, his upper body had turned into a giant lizard-like creature.
This was the Lizard Beast Transformation ability Su Yu had gained when he reached Level Five.
A sound resembling the whistle of a steam engine rang out from all over his body as large amounts of white steam was blasted out from under the black scales, making him seem like a precise mechanical machine that had been switched on, delivering immense fighting power. Extending his lizard-like claws, he caught the black claws that the humanoid monster had swiped at him.
"Roar—" Su Yu roared, forcing his waist and suddenly flinging his arm, throwing the humanoid monster into the air.
With a loud "boom," the humanoid monster folded its legs in midair before kicking off a nearby rock pillar. Immediately, the rock pillar emitted a rumbling sound as terrifying cracks spread across it. Then, chunks of rock fell off, and the rock pillar started to slowly collapse, creating a horrifying sight.
The monster’s kick was terrifyingly powerful; its loathsome body transformed into a dark purple comet, shooting at Su Yu. On the back of its neck, three dark purple "6" symbols finally surfaced. A series of dark purple light trails, resembling both lightning and monstrous Charm patterns, continuously spread to all parts of the monster’s body. It was like the entire body was connected with a dark purple electric wire, making it look like a demonic beast from hell finally awakened.
The humanoid monster roared to the sky, its pair of eyes completely turning into a dark purple color, revealing no trace of human consciousness.
"Su Yu, be careful. This monster has lost its sanity," warned Ada, who was tightly clinging to Su Yu’s shoulder.
Su Yu was Ada’s Master of Companion. With Ada clinging onto Su Yu’s shoulder, they were almost like one body. As long as Ada did not wish to, no matter what Su Yu did, there was no need to worry about flinging Ada away.
Ada also shrank its body considerately, clinging to Su Yu as closely as possible, trying not to affect Su Yu’s movements.
Su Yu looked at the humanoid monster hurtling towards him from mid-air, feeling the onslaught of terrifying energy fluctuations. His heart tightened slightly, but he bravely met the charge. Pulling on the Gasification Mysterious Power in his body, he compressed it into his arms. As he compressed the power, it became stronger and stronger until it was about to explode.
Finally, as the humanoid monster got closer, Su Yu growled, swinging his left arm into mid-air. Rows of sharp black scales protruded, releasing long columns of white gas. At the same moment, he released the terrifying Gasification Mysterious Power compressed in his arm as the Tearing Storm burst out.
With a thunderous "boom," an explosion erupted in the chest of the attacking humanoid monster, causing it to fly back at an even greater speed with a howl.
But what was even more frightening was that the humanoid beast instantly rebounded, a series of dark purple devilish patterns flashing on its chest. The one just now, the compression energy explosion of the Tearing Storm, didn’t seem to harm this monster at all.
Su Yu felt a jolt of surprise. He waved his right hand, releasing the "Tearing Storm" into the void. The humanoid creature shifted slightly, and this time, the energy drawn by the "Tearing Storm" exploded violently on the ground, causing a massive upheave of rocks, which created a giant pit in the ground.
Su Yu roared and raised his left arm to resist the humanoid creature that had already seized the opportunity to pounce. After a head-on collision, Su Yu felt as if his left arm had been bombarded by countless iron rods, causing the black scales on it to shatter. With a suppressed groan, he couldn’t help but was thrown out.
Little did they know, once Su Yu engaged his "Lizard Beast Transformation," his power increased multiple times, at least two or three times. But even with all his might, he was still overwhelmed by the humanoid monster in front of him.
Su Yu was shocked beyond measure. In the instance of falling to the ground, he twisted his body and bounced back up. The place where he had just fell cracked open, but the humanoid creature’s attack missed.
Su Yu activated the "Tearing Storm" in his right arm, and the steel-like black scales rose and began to spin rapidly. A loud honking sound, like that of a steam whistle, echoed as he unleashed a punch without holding anything back.
The humanoid monster raised its arm to block the attack. Immediately, a harsh hissing sound rang out as Su Yu’s rapidly spinning, blade-like scales scraped against the humanoid monster’s limb, which was covered with purple-black demonic patterns. It was like a blade scratching against iron, with sparks flying off.
In an instant, Su Yu roared and retreated. The countless raised black scales on his right arm shattered, and blood seeped out from between the scales. The monster’s demonic patterns momentarily collapsed but immediately returned to normal, leaving it unscathed.
Su Yu took a sharp intake of breath. The strength and terror of the monster that was once Ning Yan was beyond his expectation. Was he really going to have to use the power of the "Golden Blood"?
But the power of the "Golden Blood" was too terrifying. Once unleashed, it had the power to severely injure, if not kill. Su Yu was adamant not to let Ning Yan come to harm, regardless of whether it was because she was his first love or simply out of regard for their classmate relationship. He was only trying to save Ning Yan, not to injure her.
The humanoid creature let out an increasingly terrifying roar. Its body was covered in more and more purple-black demonic patterns, as if they were about to burst from its skin.
Su Yu felt an increasing pressure, an icy chill in his heart. He had no choice but to raise all of his black scales. Following closely, a large amount of steam was ejected from within, quickly forming a dense fog that spread around him. Su Yu’s figure disappeared quietly in the fog.
The humanoid creature turned around in the spot, finding that it was surrounded by fog and had lost sight of Su Yu. Its roaring voice slightly lowered, while Su Yu walked quietly in the fog, trying to get close enough to surprise it. Suddenly, the creature ceased its roars and seemed to have sobered, racing forward without uttering a word.
Su Yu was taken aback. Even with the slight delay, the creature had already rushed out a hundred meters away.
There were huge rock pillars everywhere, which made it very easy to hide and extremely difficult to track the creature. After running for a while, Su Yu finally completely lost track of it.
Helplessly, Su Yu stopped, shaking his head with a wry smile. He slowly deactivated the "Gasification Mysterious Power" within him, retracted the "Lizard Beast Transformation" and returned to his normal state.
During this chase, Su Yu hadn’t paid much attention to his surroundings. It was only when he stopped that he noticed the towering rock pillars nearby. These numerous pillars were grouped together, vaguely forming a canyon-like landscape.
From the end of the canyon formed by these towering rock pillars, vague shouts came. It seemed that a battle was taking place.
Ada said, "Su Yu, there’s something odd about this place."
"Hmm." Su Yu had lost Ning Yan and was slightly disheartened. He also sensed that there was something odd about the landscape. The noise coming from it suggested a battle was underway. Could it be connected to Ning Yan?
Thinking of this, Su Yu murmured, "Let’s go," and headed towards the towering rock pillars.
As they got closer, the shouting and sounds of combat grew louder. The densely packed towering stone pillars on both sides stretched into the sky, making Su Yu feel incredibly small within the canyon. The sense of oppression was indescribable.
Su Yu relaxed his steps, silently hiding behind a rock pillar. He took a peek and saw a battle underway in front of him; the faint shouts he had heard were coming from there.
A six-member team was surrounded by a group of earth-colored monsters. Both sides were locked in a fierce battle. Numerous burnt monster corpses lay on the ground everywhere. (To be continued.
