Chapter 217: Chapter 183: The New Team

Dragon Kid pointed excitedly at the pile of crystals in the center of the bubbling lava lake, but his expression suddenly turned to one of shock. Everyone else also quickly noticed there was another group of people on the other side of the lava lake. They seemed to be targeting the same crystal pile, and had just leaped onto a nearby pile of rocks, constantly jumping across the piles scattered in the lava lake to get closer to the crystals in the center.

This was a small team of ten. Su Yu couldn’t capture their information with his "Perception Eye" due to the distance, but their agility told him they were no ordinary people.

"Hey, those guys seem to be trying to steal our stuff—" Dragon Kid urgently cried out.

Meng Ting’s heart sank a little. Their mission into this Fire Element, Type-6 Space to find energy stones pertaining to the Fire Element was important. Now, it seemed someone was going to beat them to it. She quickly ordered, "Everyone, let’s go." She took the lead and jumped onto a rock pile in front of them, heat enveloping them from all around. The large pile of rocks could hold up to seven or eight people, but it was surrounded by a lake of bubbling lava, which was a rather shocking sight.

"Those of you who have reached the Fourth Order can come up, others should not follow blindly," Meng Ting turned around and said, sensing that some of their team members were notably weaker.

In such a harsh environment, the only ones usually present were the strong of the Fourth Order or above. Accessing these rock piles surrounded by boiling lava was dangerous for anyone below the Fourth Order.

Heeding Meng Ting’s warning, Su Yu cautioned, "Everyone, consider your own capabilities. If you haven’t reached the Fourth Order, stay on the shore..." As he spoke, roars suddenly echoed across the boiling lava lake as numerous Fourth Order elite Magma Fire Demons emerged o

In a blink, four of the ghastly Magma Fire Demons surrounded Meng Ting’s rock pile.

The squad of ten on the far side was also simultaneously besieged by a large number of Magma Fire Demons.

Meng Ting was about to fight back when Meng Jun landed next to her. His right hand thrust forward, and a substantial amount of black molten steel appeared which quickly transformed into a Steel Whip.

Meng Jun didn’t utter a word, and swung out his newly-formed Steel Whip.

A loud smack and the Steel Whip hit one of the Magma Fire Demons, immediately blowing its head to pieces. Soon after, rapid cracking sounds rang out. The four newly emerged Magma Fire Demons all fell to the blows of Meng Jun’s whip, their heads shattering, and molten lava splashing around. The beheaded Magma Fire Demons seemed to fear something and sequentially dove back into the lava lake.

Seeing Meng Jun take action, Meng Ting withdrew and jumped onto another pile of rocks to approach the Crystal Pile in the center.

With Ada barely clinging to life in his hand, Su Yu anxiously jumped onto a rock pile and stabilized himself. Following him, Fang Jiong pulled out the Cow Splitting Knife and hopped up too. Xu Ruyun, who had just reached the Fourth Order, followed in silence.

The others remained on the shore, with Qin Jiagui activating the "Iron Shoulder Missile" to attack the Magma Fire Demons in the lake.

The Magma Fire Demons that appeared at the moment seemed to have a sense of territory, as they did not venture ashore but only attacked and obstructed those jumping onto the rock piles.

With Ada in his right hand, Su Yu extended his left hand, and black scales emerged. He heavily struck a Magma Fire Demon that had climbed up onto a rock pile, then jumped onto another with a push of his feet.

Meng Jun handled his whip with relative ease, each strike destroying a Magma Fire Demon, making him seem invincible.

The other four, Zhou Zhurou, Zhang Huaqin, Zi Yu, and Ling Feng successively jumped onto the rock piles, facing the boiling lava lake and Magma Fire Demons without fear. As All were Fourth Order strong, they were filled with confidence.

Zhou Zhurou, the only other woman in the small team of six aside from Meng Ting, adjusted her glasses slightly, then leaped forward. As a Magma Fire Demon sprang up to assault her, Zhou Zhurou simply smiled, split her hands and twisted her body, swiftly leaping onto another rock pile while brushing past the Magma Fire Demon.

Strangely enough, the Magma Fire Demon that brushed past her suddenly shattered into pieces without warning and fell apart. Even with the energy of a Magma Fire Demon, the pieces could not re-form.

The pallid young man, Zhang Huaqin, who couldn’t have been more than seventeen or eight years old, was incredibly quiet, speaking even less than Xu Ruyun. At this moment, he landed on a pile of rocks and saw two Magma Fire Demons climbing up from both sides. He muttered something under his breath, and suddenly his hands turned pitch black. Even more terrifying was that his palms seemed to have rotted away, leaving several openings. These holes, in combination with the shape of his hands, formed two ghastly skulls. They were truly chilling to behold.

Zhang Huaqin lunged obliquely forward, landing in front of the Magma Fire Demon on his left. He stretched out his left hand and touched the creature’s head.

Unexpectedly, Zhang Huaqin’s palms seemed to have no destructive power. The Magma Fire Demon’s head didn’t explode upon contact, but the creature did stop moving. When Zhang Huaqin withdrew his palm, the hand that had shaped into a skull returned to its normal, paper white color. However, the ghastly face had been imprinted onto the Magma Fire Demon.

Magma Fire Demons have no distinct facial features, but rather a form reminiscent of a large ape, composed entirely of magma. Now, the face of this demon became a black skull. Paired with its fiery red viscous body, it looked incredibly grotesque.

In no time, Zhang Huaqin stretched his right hand and imprinted the same ghastly face on another Magma Fire Demon.

The two ghoulish Magma Fire Demons stopped attacking Zhang Huaqin and instead loyally stood behind him, their arms hanging loosely. When Zhang Huaqin jumped onto another rock pile, the Ghoul-faced Lava Fire Demons followed him.

When they saw other Magma Fire Demons climbing up from the Crystal Pile, the Ghoul-faced Lava Fire Demons rushed forward and began to fight with them.

"Ghostly enhancement, level one!" Zhang Huaqin growled softly, splitting both his hands. Two bundles of black light shot forth. After the Ghoul-faced Lava Fire Demons absorbed these bundles, their bodies swelled instantly. The once-viscous magma on their figures started to harden subtly. The demons swung their arms, roaring and easily knocking off the demons they were fighting with. The defeated demons fell into the enormous lava pool below.

As for the astonishingly bizarre-looking Zi Yu, he smirked at the approaching Magma Fire Demon, his lips curled into a seemingly silent laugh. A sprout of a little green plant emerged in his palm.

He stretched out his red tongue and licked the swaying sprout, a joyful smile appearing on his face. His left hand kept firing off things that looked like seeds towards the oncoming Magma Fire Demon.

These ’seeds’ fell down, sprouting wherever they landed - whether they fell on the rocky pile, into the lava pool, or onto the body of a Magma Fire Demon. Green roots, leaves, and branches rapidly shot out, much faster than anyone could anticipate. Three Magma Fire Demons that had just climbed up suddenly cried out, their roar abruptly cut off. In the blink of an eye, piles of green plants had sprouted out of them. These plants quickly grew, engulfing the demons. This sight left others in awe.

Su Yu, who happened to look over, couldn’t help but hold his breath at the sight of Zi Yu’s power which was far more terrifying and bizarre than he could ever imagine.

What kind of power was this? The ability to spawn and manipulate plants?

Zi Yu, the source of an uncanny aura, stepped onto the plants covering the ground. Wherever he went, large numbers of plant roots sprung up to support him, allowing him to walk safely over the lava towards the center. But of course, once he walked past, the plants magically recoiled and vanished.

A steady stream of Magma Fire Demons roared, but they couldn’t approach him at all, entrapped by large amounts of green vines.

Among the six of them, the most frightening and strange ability turned out to be Zi Yu’s, imbued with a sense of the eerie.

The last man, Ling Feng, didn’t show any particularly terrifying abilities. He just moved incredibly quickly, catching up with Meng Jun in the blink of an eye and trailing behind him without even having to fight. Soon, he was close to the center and the humongous crystal pile that was shaped like a small mountain.

Meng Ting, Su Yu, and the others, from two groups and a third party of ten people, almost simultaneously rushed towards the center, where the partially transparent crystal pile was located.

The area of the crystal pile was extensive, like a small mountain or an island floating in the big lava pool. It was spacious enough to accommodate over a hundred people. Now, with only a few people hopping onto it, the platform seemed incredibly wide.

The opposing party consisted of ten people, and when combined, Meng Ting’s and Su Yu’s teams totaled nine. The nineteen people soon formed a confrontational situation. Both sides were sizing each other up, not daring to act recklessly.

Su Yu quietly activated the "Perception Eye." Shock reverberated through him when he sensed that eight out of the ten people from the opposing team were Fourth Order warriors. Even more alarming, he couldn’t sense the abilities of two individuals who seemed to be the leaders. It was clear that they were existences that surpassed the Fourth Order.

As Su Yu was sensing the other team, one of the men from the opposing team - thin and monkey-like - also opened an eye on the back of his hand. Evidently, he too had the "Perception Eye" ability. Soon, he had also sensed the abilities of Su Yu, Meng Ting, and their companions. He then quietly whispered something into a teammate’s ear. (To be continued.
