Chapter 1178: Chapter 881: The Mysterious Cross

"Who is this person?" Su Yu asked quietly, eyeing the figure seated on the throne before him.

Tezcatlipoca pondered for a while before responding, "I do not know who he is... but I vaguely feel a sense of familiarity. Strange... Perhaps it has been too long and I have forgotten something."

Tezcatlipoca’s voice was very solemn. Su Yu silently watched the being seated on the massive throne, observing how his hands and feet were pierced and bound by chains to the throne. Who could have crafted this? Could this giant, seated on the throne, be the master of this city? Could he be the leader of those beings with six wings like the mythical angels? Yet, why does he not have wings of his own?

Endless questions kept Su Yu watching the giant, who seemed devoid of life yet somehow gave off the impression that he might open his eyes and awaken at any moment.

Meanwhile, An Xue did not share Su Yu’s feelings. Overwhelmed initially by the giant’s enormity, she soon regained her composure and started examining the relatively well-preserved Giant Palace. Quickly, her attention was drawn to a square platform beside the giant’s throne, which towered two thousand meters high and was a kilometer wide. The platform emitted a soft, holy glow, and within that glow lay a weapon that seemed minuscule compared to the giant.

The weapon, not more than two meters long with a handle about a meter, ended in a shape resembling a Cross, its tip particularly sharp and engraved with indecipherable charm-like symbols. Resting on the platform, it initially didn’t catch the eye but exuded a mysterious allure. From the first glance, it drew the viewer’s attention, compelling them to look again and again until completely captivated, as if it could ensnare the soul.

At that moment, An Xue was totally mesmerized. She stared at the Cross-shaped charm weapon, spellbound, and slowly, a subtle red glow began to emerge in her eyes, flickering with a blood-red Cross symbol.

Unnoticed by Su Yu, who was initially distracted by the crowned giant, the eerie nature of the Cross weapon and An Xue’s unusual behavior went undetected.

Silently, An Xue reached out, grabbed the quietly hovering Cross-shaped charm weapon on the platform, and the faint blood-red Cross pattern in her eyes reemerged. Without a word, with the weapon in hand, she quietly approached Su Yu from behind. Her eyes’ blood-red Cross gleam intensified as she raised the weapon high and fiercely smashed it down towards Su Yu’s head.

Su Yu was caught off guard; he was still pondering over the oddity of the giant on the throne, who seemed different from the dead six-winged "Angels" outside the city. Just as he realized something was amiss from the rushing wind above, it was too late.

Never had Su Yu expected An Xue to attack him. Caught completely off-guard, even an Immortal being would struggle to react, especially since Su Yu’s powers lay merely at the level of a first-tier Totem without the activation of the Giant Will.

Unable to react in time, Su Yu barely managed to turn his head as the Cross weapon sliced into his right shoulder and, like cutting through tofu, cleaved his body in half diagonally.

Golden blood splattered, and Su Yu, with eyes wide open, managed to look back only to see An Xue’s twisted and horrifying face, her eyes with the eerie blood-red Cross, and the two-meter-long, Cross-like weapon.

Since obtaining a body endowed with the Giant Will, this was the second time Su Yu’s body had been split in two.

The first instance was when Su Yu, in the Black Iron World, had slain a Child of Destiny and provoked the guardian of the Demon Beast Mountain Range, a figure in a blue robe.

The power of this man in the blue robe was unparalleled. Even the mysterious wooden man seemed weak before him. At that time, Su Yu had no chance to react and was instantly cut in half; had it not been for the wooden man delaying him, Su Yu might have died at the hands of the blue-robed man that day.

Aside from the blue-robed man, not even an Immortal stronger than Aztec, which could harness the Peak Immortality of solar energy, had been able to split Su Yu’s body in two. This time, however, An Xue, having silently obtained the weapon, managed to split Su Yu’s body in half so swiftly that even the Giant Will inside him could not react in time to protect its master.

After his body was instantly bisected, the Giant Will within Su Yu sensed the threat of death and finally burst forth. In an instant, a terrifying illusion of a six-dragon, six-winged figure exploded forth. The illusion’s Giant Arm swept out, fiercely colliding with the Cross weapon that was coming down again.
