Chapter 1177: Chapter 880: The Giant on the Throne

Unfortunately, An Xue only knew of this place, but was clueless about the world within.

In contemplation, Su Yu climbed high to have a better view. All of a sudden, his heart stirred. From his angle, he could vaguely make out the shadow of what seemed like tall buildings within the distant darkness.

Gigantic statues had appeared here, and if there really were buildings in the distance, could it be that this world was actually inhabited by other advanced intelligent beings?

"An Xue, let’s go take a look over there," Su Yu said upon this discovery, pointing towards the distance before flying off with An Xue, leaving behind the colossal statue that towered thousands of meters high, heading towards the place resembling the shadow of buildings.

The two flew swiftly. The vague shadow of architecture in the distance quickly became clear, growing larger in front of them, until finally, Su Yu and An Xue could see clearly that there indeed were sprawling, magnificently majestic buildings in their path.

These buildings, blending into the darkness, looked from afar like an ancient beast crouching there. When Su Yu and An Xue finally approached, they exchanged a glance and both inhaled sharply.

Before them stood a tall surrounding wall and a giant gate, but the gate was so high that Su Yu and An Xue felt as insignificant as flies compared to the massive structure.

The height of just these two gates probably needed to be measured in tens of thousands of meters, one could only imagine the grandeur of the entire construction.

Moreover, this unimaginable grandeur was marked with signs of ruin, suggesting that a cataclysmic battle had once erupted here, with walls collapsing over and over, and half of the towering palaces plummeting down, as terrible fractured giant bones could be vaguely seen protruding from the crumbled walls.

It was indescribably eerie. After a moment, Su Yu whispered to An Xue, "Be careful, let’s go in and take a look."

An Xue swallowed nervously, then nodded and uttered an affirmative sound.

Su Yu heightened his alertness, quietly activating the Giant Will within him, with An Xue closely following behind him. They glided along a partially collapsed giant wall into the void within the ruins. Inside, they felt like flies that had accidentally entered the capital city of giants; everything they saw with their own eyes was massive, supermassive, beyond imagination—what kind of beings once lived within these structures?

"Huh? What is that..." An Xue suddenly exclaimed in a soft voice, followed by Su Yu who had already shot off in another direction. Soon, he saw beneath a half-collapsed gigantic palace that seemed to reach the heavens, a body that appeared to be buried within the rubble.

The body was also unimaginably huge, with most of it pinned down by the fallen ruins, revealing a colossal head as large as a mountain and several white wings.

Because of its immense size, at first glance the body resembled a lifeless statue, showing no signs of decay. Su Yu slowly halted in the void, looked down at the mountain-sized head, observed the golden hair flowing like clouds, and gazed at the delicate face of the giant. From a distance, she looked like a beautiful woman lying there, in deep slumber.

Both Su Yu and An Xue were struck with awe by the spectacle before them, unable to discern the full size of the body since most of it was buried. They could only sense that the revealed head was enormous, and moreover, it was that of a beautiful blonde woman with a delicate face, her back spreading several jade-white wings.

The snow-white feathers were still drifting slowly in the breeze, as if she were still alive.

"A woman with wings... of such tremendous size... indeed there is no sign of life, she has surely passed away, but... but... what is this feeling..." Su Yu muttered to himself. He didn’t understand why the shock he felt upon seeing this half-buried woman’s body was even more soul-stirring than when he saw Timis’s heart.

Su Yu couldn’t figure out how this immense woman with golden hair and wings had died. They stared blankly for a while before coming back to their senses and started to search around. Soon after, Su Yu found a second body amidst the ruins.

She was still an incomparably giant and breathtakingly beautiful winged woman. This woman, with six snowy wings sprouting from her back and a face of perfection, lay there with her eyes closed, as if serenely asleep. However, her chest had been split open by a horrific wound. Through this wound, one could see that her heart had been removed, and thus, the breath of life had also vanished.

Su Yu and An Xue silently watched for a long while before Su Yu came back to his senses. The woman before him greatly resembled the "Angels" created by God, spoken of in mythological legends.

Although Su Yu had never delved deeply into the mythologies of various cultures, he was still familiar with images of these winged beings, both male and female, said to be Angels created by God. He even knew that the more wings an Angel had, the higher their rank was, with the Seraphim, apparently having six wings, being the highest of all.

Of course, Su Yu knew that this was just a legend concocted by humans on Earth and that there might be no connection with the entities in this world. Nevertheless, he couldn’t help but make such an association.

Setting aside whether these were truly "Angels," or whether in this world they would also be called Angels, what was most important now was determining where this incredibly grand city was, the origins of these immense winged women, and who had killed them. How had this city been destroyed, and why was it hidden deep within the Ancient Life Continent?

The headache Su Yu felt from thinking so hard was accompanied by another faint fluctuation from the Giant Will within him. However, nothing emerged, as though the winged woman had stirred a reaction from "it," but not a strong one.

"It’s truly unimaginable..." Su Yu muttered softly, "Teacher, do you know the origins of these winged women or which race of creatures they might belong to?"

In his mind, Tezcatlipoca replied in equally puzzled tone, "I’m not sure either. They’re so massive, even larger than the ancient behemoths. This place is just too bizarre; I had never imagined that the Ancient Life Continent concealed such a terrifying place."

Even Tezcatlipoca, the progenitor of the three races, felt a vague sense of dread after spending too much time in this place.

Su Yu, leading An Xue, continued looking through the ruins, and along the way, he discovered the bodies of countless giant winged beings of varying death causes. Among these giants were stunning beauties and men of near-perfect handsomeness. Despite whatever unrivaled powers or lofty statuses they might have had when alive, now they were all dead, leaving not a trace of life behind.

"Such thorough destruction. And with so many bodies, we can now be sure that this massive city belonged to these winged men and women... Well, let’s just call them Angels for now. I imagine this city must have been their home. For unknown reasons, this city of Angels was destroyed, and countless male and female Angels perished here... As for why it’s hidden beneath the Ancient Life Continent... that remains unexplained."

A moment later, Su Yu spoke his deductions, and An Xue expressed her confusion, "Then, who killed them, who destroyed this city?"

After thinking for a bit, Su Yu shook his head and said, "I don’t know, perhaps Demons? According to the legends, Angels and Demons have always been mortal enemies."

The atmosphere was very oppressive, and after finishing his sentence, Su Yu forced a smile to lighten the mood. When he looked up, he realized they had arrived in front of a massive palace that once must have been magnificent.

The architectural style of this Giant Palace was different from the other palaces they had seen. By comparison, the layout, scale, and grandeur of this palace far exceeded that of ordinary ones; moreover, what was most surprising was that this palace seemed to have been relatively well-preserved.

"Let’s go, and have a look inside," Su Yu said, and he and An Xue slowly entered through the massive palace doors. What unveiled before them was a hall so vast it was beyond imagination. On both sides of the hall stood statues of extreme largeness.

These statues were exquisitely crafted, depicting both beautiful women and perfectly handsome men. They were armed with swords, spears, shields, and other weapons. Behind each statue were six enormous wings. Su Yu and An Xue looked on until their gazes were drawn to the farthest end of the expansive hall.

At the very top of the palace was a massive throne reaching two thousand meters in height, its width exceeding a thousand meters. At this moment, a figure sat upon that gigantic throne.

The enormous figure sat high upon the throne. His body was nearly two thousand meters tall, with the upper half bare, and only a simple coarse cloth around his waist to cover the lower half. He wore a halo-shaped crown on his head. Right now, "he" had his eyes closed and sat upon the throne as if deep in slumber, looking entirely peaceful. However, his palms and the soles of his feet were all pierced through, with four thick chains passing through these openings, tightly binding his body to the huge throne. The wounds bore the illusion of still oozing blood, tinged with an eerie aura.

Su Yu and An Xue slowly flew towards the figure seated in slumber on the throne. They observed the mighty being’s long black hair, thick beard, and a face that seemed brimming with kindness and compassion. Though lifeless, sitting there with eyes closed, he still exuded a supreme majesty and the sovereign aura of one who is above all. (To be continued...
