A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners -
Chapter 49: Drink
Chapter 49: Drink
The bar had security personnel seemingly assigned to check whether people entering were of age or not.
However, they rarely checked. They only bothered when someone looked too young.
Oliver and Ivy didn’t look that young—after all, they were both in their final year of high school and about to enter university—so they weren’t stopped.
Inside the bar, Oliver saw many people gathered in small groups. Some strangers began chatting, getting to know each other before sitting down and drinking together, enjoying the music provided by the DJ, which added a full sense of excitement to the atmosphere.
The seating in this bar varied, but most consisted of high stools with small backrests lined up in front of a long counter.
"Let’s go over there!" Ivy invited Oliver to a relatively empty corner of the counter.
Oliver followed her lead. They sat next to each other until a bartender—a man in his thirties—approached them.
"What can I get you, sir and ma’am?" he asked politely.
"What do you think would suit us?" Oliver replied.
"I’m a Fifth-Stage Cultivator, and my girlfriend here is a Level 10 Awakener. I’m sure you can choose something that’ll satisfy us."
He didn’t know much about alcohol. If he had to pick from the menu, he’d just get confused—he didn’t even know the effects of each drink.
And he knew Ivy didn’t either.
Rather than come off as clueless, he decided to let the bartender choose for them—and gave a little context about who they were.
After all, ordinary drinks likely wouldn’t have much of an effect on their evolved bodies.
The bartender was visibly stunned by Oliver’s words.
A Cultivator and an Awakener—and both at fairly high levels. He hadn’t expected two people like this to be dating.
Of course, he couldn’t treat them like regular customers. They could easily destroy the bar if they got angry.
"Please wait—I’ll prepare something suitable for the two of you," he said.
He placed two small glasses in front of them, added some ice, then pulled out several bottles, which he shook before mixing the contents into their glasses—resulting in an orange-colored drink that looked a bit like orange juice, but with a strong alcoholic aroma.
"Please enjoy, sir and ma’am," the bartender said.
Ivy picked up her glass before Oliver and drank it all in one go.
Curious, Oliver did the same, feeling the cool and warm sensations from the drink as it went down.
What stood out most was the strength of the drink. Even as a Fifth-Stage Cultivator, he could immediately feel the effects—it lightened both his body and mind.
Of course, it was different from the wine given to him by Rowan Lee or the Crazy Archer.
Those were cultivation wines. This was pure alcohol meant to get someone drunk.
Its effects became even more pronounced after a while, greatly boosting his confidence.
Even if he were just an ordinary human, he felt like he wouldn’t be afraid to do anything he wanted.
He was in a state where he wouldn’t think of consequences.
"Give me another glass," Oliver said.
"Me too," Ivy added, setting down her empty glass.
The bartender pursed his lips at their request. In his opinion, this drink was meant to be taken only once, followed by something lighter—two glasses could make someone lose control.
However, these two weren’t ordinary people, and he didn’t dare refuse.
He gave them another round, which they drank right away.
Then, they even asked for a third.
By the third glass, both Oliver and Ivy were completely drunk.
Their faces had turned red.
Still, Oliver was well aware that if he wanted to, he could easily purge the alcohol from his system using his power.
Alcohol alone couldn’t control someone like him—but he didn’t want to get rid of it.
He was thoroughly enjoying the feeling.
It gave him the sense that he was powerful—and everyone else was beneath him.
In this bar, most people were already drunk. Some were laughing, others crying. With Oliver and Ivy joining in, nothing seemed too out of the ordinary.
But then, Ivy did something unexpected.
She got down from her stool—almost stumbling, her legs barely supporting her.
Luckily, Oliver caught her hand—but after that, she climbed into his lap.
It seemed she just wanted to change seats, and Oliver happily welcomed her onto his lap.
"Baby!" Ivy hugged him in her drunken state.
She sat facing him, then rested her forehead against his.
Most people sat side by side—but they already looked like they were about to make out, making them stand out a lot.
And sure enough, Ivy kissed Oliver—and Oliver kissed her back.
Some people in the bar began reacting with excitement when they saw this.
Some even started taking pictures.
Of course, there are always people who dislike others having fun. One of them was a burly man who looked like a gangster. His body was covered in tattoos and he had multiple piercings in his ears.
People were intimidated just by looking at him.
And now, he was walking straight toward Oliver and Ivy.
Ivy was too into the kiss to care, but Oliver noticed him approaching.
Before the man could get closer, though, the bartender suddenly stepped in front of him.
"Brother Paul, that guy is a Fifth-Stage Cultivator, and the girl’s a Level 10 Awakener. You can’t mess with them unless you want to see our bar get destroyed. Even if your boss is a Level 15 Awakener, they could crush you before you even had time to report to him," the bartender warned.
Hearing that, the man looked utterly stunned—but then his expression darkened.
He was furious, but he realized the people who pissed him off could easily obliterate him.
The bartender probably knew his pride was huge, so he gently led him away—to make it look like he was being escorted, not blocked.
Oliver and Ivy just kept kissing, their tongues dancing while Oliver’s hand slid over Ivy’s thigh, which was incredibly soft and smooth.
Some people couldn’t bear watching and left the bar with new partners they’d just met.
Their own urges had clearly reached a boiling point.
"Baby!" Ivy broke the kiss once they were out of breath.
"I can’t take it anymore."
"Then let’s go," Oliver said, smiling.
"Let’s find a hotel nearby."
"Okay!" Ivy agreed without hesitation.
She was fully aware that her apartment was too far.
Oliver didn’t move right away. He called the bartender back and handed over his bank card to pay.
