Chapter 31: Buy The Technique
Rejecting the offer was one thing, but Ivy continued to insist he use her money.
This meant that her offer wasn’t just to show sincerity—she truly wouldn’t be satisfied unless he used what she had.
Oliver couldn’t help but wonder just how deep her feelings for him were, because this seemed to border on the irrational.
He couldn’t keep refusing, even though he was hesitant to use a woman’s money.
But the truth was—he did need the money.
"By the way, how’s your fusion going with the Undead King?" Ivy asked.
"Even though the Undead King is strong, I might be stronger myself," Oliver replied. "I don’t really need him. Based on my estimate, I’m more suited to the Undead Emperor. That’s why I plan to help you level up, but not necessarily fuse with the King. I can help weaken the monsters so you can kill them more easily."
"That’s good too. Once I get the Undead Emperor, I’ll give it to you," Ivy replied without hesitation.
"What if I want to fully fuse with your Undead Emperor—would you mind?" Oliver asked. "Actually, there’s a technique that allows me to completely merge with another creature. It’s very difficult to master, but I plan on learning it. Full fusion would let me combine my power with the creature’s. If that’s your Undead Emperor, I’ll need your permission—and you’d lose control of it."
Oliver felt it was necessary to explain this to her clearly, since in the end, it required her consent. If she didn’t approve, then it would be impossible.
After all, it might be a loss for her, as she’d basically lose her Undead Emperor.
Even though she could try to find another one in the future, that wouldn’t be easy.
This first one would be something she could summon effortlessly as long as she reached Level 10, since it was tied to her Necromancer skill.
"I understand. Even though I’d essentially lose my Undead Emperor since it would be fused with you, it would still have originated from me. When you use its power to kill monsters, I’d still earn EXP. If it helps strengthen you, I don’t mind giving it up," Ivy replied.
She didn’t look hesitant at all.
"What about the technique itself? Do you already have it?" she asked.
"No, it’s being sold by the Star-Eye Organization for 50K dollars," Oliver answered.
"Then let’s go buy it. I joined that organization yesterday. Members get a discount," Ivy said with enthusiasm as she stood up.
"Really?" Oliver was surprised to hear she’d joined that organization.
"Their office isn’t far from here. We can walk," Ivy said.
"Alright..."
Oliver was glad she would take him there.
They quickly left the restaurant and began walking down the sidewalk toward the office.
They walked side by side, and Ivy seemed to be in her own thoughts.
Oliver, who wasn’t inexperienced with women, knew what to do.
Casually, he reached for her hand—startling her.
But she responded by firmly holding his hand in return. Her grip was strong.
Her small palm and slender fingers, wrapped in soft, smooth skin, gave Oliver nothing but a pleasant sensation.
Dressed fashionably like this, Ivy definitely caught the attention of many passersby. Oliver could feel the envious stares aimed at him.
"By the way, what kind of organization is the Star-Eye Organization? Why did you join them?" Oliver asked.
"It’s a group of Awakeners with abilities similar to mine—controlling other creatures, whether undead, monsters, or puppets. I can learn a lot there. Also, if something comes up, I can ask for help from the other members—as long as I pay," Ivy replied.
"I see." Oliver nodded.
That kind of organization suited Ivy, though not really him.
Most Awakener or Cultivator organizations were made up of people with similar skills, banding together to compete with rival groups.
Not long after, Oliver and Ivy arrived at the organization’s office—not a large building, just a wide, four-story structure facing the main road.
At a glance, it looked more like a lounge than a formal office, though it had a reception desk that welcomed guests.
"What’s the name of the technique?" Ivy asked.
"Absolute Fusion Technique," Oliver replied.
Ivy nodded and stepped inside the building.
Of course, she and Oliver let go of each other’s hands.
Still, anyone who saw them together could easily tell they had a special relationship.
"Miss Wilson, is there anything you need?" the receptionist immediately greeted Ivy politely.
Apparently, she was already well-known in the organization—at least in the Manchester branch.
"I want to get a copy of the Absolute Fusion Technique—the one for Cultivators," Ivy said.
"Oh..." The receptionist looked surprised, glancing at Oliver, quickly guessing why Ivy wanted a Cultivator’s technique.
She then checked her tablet before replying, "My clearance isn’t high enough to issue a copy of that technique. It can only be done by the manager. He’s not here yet, but he should arrive in about 20 minutes. If you’d like to wait, we’ll prepare some coffee for you."
Hearing that, Ivy gave a small nod.
"Let’s go to the second floor," she said to Oliver.
"Sure..." Oliver had no objections.
Something like this wasn’t easy to obtain—waiting a while was no problem for him.
He followed Ivy up a staircase shaped like a snake.
When they reached the second floor, Oliver was slightly surprised—it looked more like a café, complete with waiters ready to serve food and drinks. Everything was free for members or their guests.
However, the main area was small. There were many doors that likely led to private rooms.
"The third floor is off-limits to outsiders. That’s where members can take on organization missions for rewards," Ivy explained, then asked a waiter for two iced milk coffees.
She took the drinks herself and returned to Oliver.
"How about we go to a private room?" she asked.
Her eyes showed anticipation, as if she truly wanted to be alone with him.
"Sure."
Oliver didn’t reject the idea.
Ivy then chose an empty private room.
It wasn’t too big—about ten square meters. It had a pair of couches facing each other, a large TV, karaoke speakers, and a balcony.
The air-conditioning was also cool and comfortable.
In a typical café, a private room like this would easily cost over a hundred dollars per hour.
But what caught Oliver’s attention the most was the abundant spiritual energy inside. It was twice as concentrated as outside.
He could absorb spiritual energy much faster here.
Unfortunately, he probably wouldn’t be able to cultivate here right now.
Ivy’s gaze toward him was becoming more and more obvious.
It was clear—she very much desired his touch.
