Chapter 30: Decision

Oliver hadn’t made any decision yet. Both he and Ivy fell silent.

The latter even started eating her food, as if to distract herself, though it was clear her mind was still on the matter.

Eventually, Oliver also began eating. He figured things could be thought through better on a full stomach.

But as time passed, he noticed Ivy seemed to grow more and more restless.

She had taken off her glasses, and her eyes couldn’t stop looking at him.

Sometimes her gaze was calm, but more often it looked intense—like there was something inside her she couldn’t control.

Oliver wasn’t unfamiliar with women giving him that kind of look, but that usually only happened in bedrooms or bathrooms.

Never in public. Women generally had better self-control.

He couldn’t help but wonder—had Ivy always looked at him like this without him realizing it, or was this new?

It would be strange if it were only now.

Considering Ivy was almost done with high school, she should’ve gone through puberty long ago.

"Oliver, you must’ve realized by now..." she finally spoke.

Oliver’s hand stopped mid-motion when he heard that.

He looked at Ivy without blinking at all.

The girl looked like she was gathering her courage—her expression turned completely serious.

Then she really said it.

"I’ve liked you. For a long time. You’re my first love, and that hasn’t changed."

Oliver: "..."

"I changed my appearance to be beautiful—all for you. As long as you’re my boyfriend, whatever you want from me—my money or my power—I’ll give it to you."

Oliver wanted to take a deep breath, but he held it in.

He also resisted the urge to scratch his head.

This wasn’t the first time a girl had confessed to him. It had happened a few times in the past.

Some people might find this kind of story unrealistic, but any man who’s even moderately good-looking knows otherwise. Women aren’t all that different from men when they fall for someone.

But usually, it was just a confession of interest.

Ivy didn’t just want to date him—she was offering everything she had.

If he weren’t a Cultivator with a Will Realm at Earth Master level, he might have questioned whether this was all just a dream.

Is this really just her personality? Or does she have some obsessive-compulsive disorder causing this intense fixation? he wondered silently.

He wasn’t sure. But right now, Ivy was waiting for his answer—her eyes were razor sharp with anticipation.

"You’re really sure you want to date me?" Oliver asked. "You know... you’re destined for a bright future, while I’m just a weak, ordinary human."

He wanted to know how she saw things—since she didn’t yet know about his true cultivation.

Once that was revealed, Oliver wouldn’t be surprised if half the girls in school started approaching him again.

"I don’t care about any of your shortcomings. I’m not after anything material from you," Ivy replied.

Her voice was gentler now, and her gaze was full of hope.

Oliver felt a bit awkward—but also touched.

A girl who was ready to be with him without looking down on his current state... that was rare.

"Alright," Oliver finally said, nodding lightly.

His current standards for women were more realistic. Beauty wasn’t his top priority anymore—loyalty was.

He only needed a woman who would stay by his side through everything, and Ivy seemed to be exactly that.

Plus, she was actually very beautiful—her old style just used to cover that, but now she had improved her appearance.

Seeing his agreement, Ivy looked as if her soul had just been revived—her eyes lit up so brightly she seemed unable to be any happier.

Oliver found it understandable—this was probably her first romantic relationship.

"How about we finish our meal before talking about anything else?" Oliver said.

Usually, in new relationships, the guy was the one who got more aggressive—but in this case, it was the girl.

Oliver wasn’t even sure what Ivy would’ve done if they weren’t in a public place.

Ivy nodded and began eating again.

She seemed to be calming herself down by bowing her head.

But moments later, she looked at Oliver in surprise.

That’s because he had begun subtly releasing his aura—the aura of a Cultivator that wasn’t just equal to hers, but even stronger, since she was still only Level 5 as an Awakener.

"Actually, I’m not a weak Cultivator. What do you think about that?" Oliver asked her.

Luckily, Ivy wasn’t like Alex when surprised.

Even her shock looked brief.

She seemed like someone who always let her mind process things deeply without letting her expression get involved.

"That’s very good," Ivy said in response. "Is there anything you need for your cultivation? We can buy it. Now that you’re my boyfriend, I’ll definitely support your cultivation. After all, cultivating requires a lot of resources—unlike Awakening. Here, take my bank card. I just received a $500,000 reward from the Awakener Association. The PIN is 110805."

Ivy casually placed the bank card in front of Oliver.

He didn’t quite know how to react to her generosity.

She really did want to give him everything she had.

However, one thing felt strange—the PIN to her bank card.

Wasn’t that his birthday?

His expression turned a bit weird.

Ivy seemed to realize he had noticed, and she tried to play it cool.

In response, Oliver pushed the bank card back toward her.

"I’m not the kind of man who takes a woman’s money. You should keep it for yourself," he said.

"No. I’d be happier if you used what I have," Ivy replied, pushing the card back to him.

"Baby, please keep it. I have other cards for my living expenses," she added in a soft, affectionate tone.

If ears could twitch, Oliver was pretty sure his would have moved by themselves after hearing that.

She had already called him baby.

He hadn’t expected Ivy to be the kind of girl who used pet names for her boyfriend—but she seemed determined to show her love.

And apparently, she didn’t think placing the card in front of him was enough.

She picked it up again—and this time, she slipped it into his shirt pocket.
