A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners -
Chapter 28: To The School Again
Chapter 28: To The School Again
That morning, Oliver went to school wearing only casual clothes he had bought the night before.
He took a taxi even though his finances were already tight again—throughout his journey in the Chaotic World last night, he hadn’t obtained any Monster Cores to sell.
Inside the taxi, he focused on his phone, searching for information about fusion techniques.
His teacher, Evylin, apparently didn’t have one either, so he had to find it himself.
Fortunately, when he searched for information about such techniques, it turned out that one did exist—owned by a fairly large Awakener organization with a branch office in Manchester: the Star Eye Organization.
It was called the Absolute Fusion Technique.
For Awakeners, this technique was practically useless.
However, the Star Eye Organization wouldn’t hand out a copy for free to Cultivators.
To obtain it, one had to either buy it for 50K dollars or complete a mission for them.
Oliver hadn’t expected that getting a copy of the technique would be so difficult. After all, it was just a copy—owning it was one thing, mastering it... who knew how hard that would be?
When he read further, the technique allowed the user to fuse with one creature for every 5% comprehension. At 100%, the user could fuse with up to 20 creatures.
Of course, that was extremely difficult. Even though the technique was complete, the number of Cultivators who had achieved even 5% comprehension could be counted on one hand—fewer than five people.
Although Oliver believed he was talented—especially after managing to comprehend Ordo of Life so easily—even he was pessimistic about mastering this technique.
He began wondering if there was any way he could come up with 50K dollars to buy a copy of the technique.
Completing a mission from the organization was something he ruled out. Too many comments online advised against it, and he didn’t have time anyway.
As he continued to think, he finally arrived at school.
He paid the taxi fare before getting out and noticed the students were quite stirred up, staring at a female student—none other than Ivy.
How could they not stare? The girl who usually wore long skirts had now shown up in a short skirt, and her shirt was visibly tighter.
Her hair was still in twin braids, and she wore glasses again—only this time, they were more stylish, small enough that they didn’t hide her face anymore.
There was no trace of her bookish image left. She truly stood out now—especially with the addition of a gold necklace, a watch, and long dangling earrings.
Besides that, she was accompanied by two undead following behind her.
Each one had a large frame and carried a massive sword on their backs.
Oliver had already seen her transformation yesterday, and even now, he was still surprised—so it wasn’t strange that the other students were in shock.
Of course, what surprised them most was the fact that she was actually very beautiful when she chose to dress stylishly.
"Did she become more confident after gaining power?" a student wondered.
"I don’t think it’s about confidence. Maybe she just wanted to do it. You know, even when she was a bookworm, Ivy was always confident and brave. She wasn’t like other nerds who got bullied easily. When someone tried to pick on her, she always fought back."
"Yeah, maybe it’s not about confidence at all. Maybe she just doesn’t have life burdens anymore, so she feels free to be whoever she wants."
"Hmph, you’re all dumb. There’s only one reason a woman puts effort into her appearance—it’s to attract the man she likes. Ivy probably feels powerful now and wants to go after the guy she likes. Naturally, she wants to look good so that he’ll like her too."
"What? Are you serious? Does a girl like her even have someone she likes?"
"Why not? If she’s normal, of course she would."
"Hahaha, this is interesting. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if she liked me."
"Idiot. That’s just your fantasy. You’re not even in the top five most handsome guys in this school. Even I wouldn’t be interested in you."
"..."
Oliver overheard the students’ conversation and thought their words made sense.
Speaking of the school’s top five most handsome guys—it had actually been voted on by the female students.
He was one of them.
Ivy’s destination was the school cafeteria. Apparently, she hadn’t had breakfast at home, and she had invited some of her close friends to join her.
Even though she was known to be a loner, she still had a few close friends due to shared interests and hobbies.
Oliver didn’t plan on approaching her right away, so he headed to his classroom.
Naturally, Ivy saw him from the cafeteria.
From the moment she saw him, Oliver could feel her gaze until he walked into the classroom.
"Hey, Oliver! How’s your cultivation going? You know, it turns out I’m pretty talented—I’ve already reached the First Stage of the Spiritual Master Realm! Hahaha, now it doesn’t matter if I fail to awaken."
Oliver had just entered the classroom when he heard the voice of a chubby young man in a neat school uniform.
He was even wearing a blue tie, which made him look rather charming.
Alex Ford, his close friend at school—and the son of his boss.
Their friendship began with their fathers, who were close friends themselves.
In fact, they were even related on their mothers’ side.
They sat at the same desk in this class, so naturally Alex approached him as Oliver made his way to his seat.
His eyes couldn’t help but glance at Alex in surprise after hearing he had reached the First Stage.
It was impressive, considering how fast his progress was.
Faintly, Oliver could feel the power of fire emanating from his chubby body, confirming that his words were true.
He should’ve been impressed—but the truth was, he had already far surpassed him. So instead, he forced a smile and acted surprised.
"Really? Congratulations. If you couldn’t cultivate either, your mom probably would’ve beaten you," Oliver said with a laugh, hiding the awkward feeling in his heart—because only he knew how insincere his words actually were.
"Hahaha, I got lucky! Now my mom doesn’t scold me anymore—she even promised to find me a beautiful girlfriend," Alex said, laughing out loud.
"But what about you? How far have you progressed?" he asked.
He couldn’t sense Oliver’s cultivation, so he assumed Oliver was still struggling.
Oliver gave a faint smile and reached out to touch Alex’s finger—allowing him to feel the power within his body.
Within moments, Alex’s eyes widened while his body trembled uncontrollably.
