Hearing this, Wang Yuwai was even more furious and certain that the woman was up to no good—obviously, what decent woman would scale walls and sneak around in the dead of night?

So, he locked his son in the room, keeping the only key to himself and specifically assigned two husky house servants to guard the door, forbidding anyone to enter or exit.

A few days passed, and Wang Yuwai wanted to check on things. As he approached the door, he nearly died of anger.

This sent Wang Yuwai into a frenzy. Once everything was under control, he called for the two house servants, only to find they had no recollection of falling asleep. According to them, they had been standing by the door the entire time without noticing anything amiss.

The Mage arrived and after surveying the area, proclaimed that it was the mischief of a fox spirit, first absorbing the young master’s vitality and then intending to consume his soul for cultivation.

He provided a Talisman, instructed it to be placed outside the door, but it shattered instantly. The Mage, shocked by what he saw, proclaimed the Fox Spirit to be really powerful, having absorbed untold vigor. He was ready to leave, but Wang Yuwai would not let him go. Using lavish hospitality and Silver Taels, he finally convinced the Mage to risk a desperate attempt.

Well, it ended with his life gambled away.

In truth, there’s not much to tell about that day. The Mage declared he would guard Young Master Wang, confronting the Fox Spirit head-on, and no one was to enter.
