Just as she reached the bottom of the building and was about to hail a cab, she caught sight of the sports car parked across the road, faltering for a moment.

Jiang Jinchen, having slept on the steering wheel all night, woke up as soon as the sun rose.

He knew Ning Yanan’s work schedule and knew she wouldn’t leave the house this early, so he lingered, unwilling to leave.

Even though he knew she would never find out, he still wanted to stay as close to her as possible.

When their eyes met, Jiang Jinchen thought for a moment that it was just an illusion.

Once he was sure it really was Ning Yanan, he instinctively pushed the car door open and walked towards her.

His steps so hurried he forgot to check for passing vehicles.

"Is that how you cross a road? Do you have a death wish or something?" An irate driver who had to slam on the brakes cursed out in English.

Jiang Jinchen seemed not to hear, not even turning his head as he walked straight across the road and pulled Ning Yanan into his embrace.

His voice, full of deep affection, made Ning Yanan freeze on the spot.

Even forgot to push him away.

Jiang Jinchen’s voice sounded like a child who had done something wrong, helplessly seeking comfort from someone close to him.
