Chapter 52: Chapter 49- Bloody Hell!

Eva’s fingers trembled as her eyes fluttered open. Through blurred vision, she saw rocks hurtling toward her.

’Am I going to die here...haa... so tired.’ Her eyes closed at this thought, but they opened, and she dodged at the last minute, but some stone debris pierced through her hands and legs, and blood splattered out, soaking her body.

’’Arghh! Cough...cough!’’ tears dripped from her painful eyes, the pain of hot rocks going through her body was excruciating. It felt like her blood was scorched with hotness, burning her flesh as it passed through her body.

She stumbled forward, falling face down, only to find her surroundings shift into an icy blizzard.

She couldn’t move and sank into the icy snow. The cold brought some relief, opening her mouth, she swallowed the snow to quench her thirst.

Catching her breath, she sat up weakly and assessed her surroundings, and like the volcano, everywhere was covered in white.

Collapsing to the ground, she stared up at the sky. Back then she was about to accept her fate when the annoying face of Julian and Ethan’s cold face filled her mind. ’I can’t believe I experienced those near-death emotional moments written in novels. I felt like a female lead a moment ago but nah...I don’t want to go through that ever again.’ She shuddered at the feeling of death, pain, and fear, she felt seconds ago.

Her bleeding hands and legs were proof of the pain she had endured. She tried using her powers again, but they remained sealed, and a sigh escaped her lips.

There was no use checking her space bag since it would be the same result.

’’Rumble...’’

The ground around her trembled and Eva’s eyes widened, getting a bad feeling. If her guess was right the ice version of volcano rocks would be heading for her. She grimaced as she stood up, her body aching, and she shivered slightly from the cold.

She turned toward the noise and saw a spiky ice ball rolling towards her. She dashed forward, cursing the mechanical voice for not warning her about what she was getting herself into.

If she could turn back time she wouldn’t be deceived by that egg. The egg now seemed too cheap compared to her current situation.

She rolled herself downward, fortunate for the hills aiding her. She would have enjoyed the cold breeze and the soft snow under her but now she was being pursued by a spiky ball, and her body was freezing.

*Achoo...( >A< ) 〜*

Her nose reddened from the cold, as she rolled without control across the hills. She kept sneezing—turning so much that she had an illusion that her brains were turning too.

As time passed, she rolled into a snowball; only her head was visible, and her body was covered with snow.

Feeling nauseous, she tried to stop, but she was stuck in the snowball; she couldn’t move and could only shut her eyes and kept rolling.

Days passed, and Eva continued rolling, her face pale, teeth chattering, and lips blue.

Her eyelashes froze shut, and she was on the verge of death. Her skin cracked, and blood seeped through, freezing in the cold.

Eva lost consciousness, the biting wind against her face as fragmented memories flickered in her mind.

(Memories...)

Ember (Eva) was born with a rare chronic condition. A severe case of Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).

It was so bad that it was a hassle to go out since if she inhaled anything but purified air, it would trigger her symptoms—migraine, dizziness, hives.

She was healthy enough but not for the outside world. Like any other day, she finished learning dojo from her personal trainer.

Skipping to her room a giggle left her lips at the book she was going to read today. She wasn’t depressed for someone who only left their home twice in their 24 years of life.

She had everything she needed in her mansion—books, games, and a phone to communicate with the outside world.

However, she’s sad at the idea of not leaving her house to experience the sun and moon and travel around. Shaking her head from her depressing thoughts, she opened her phone novel app.

As she selected a book to read, the world outside turned dark, she didn’t notice because of dark blinds covering all the mansion windows.

A virus spread quickly Into the air, but Ember was under her bedcovers, twirling her feet, engrossed by the story.

*Beep Beep Beep.*

Ember was startled by her air purifier alarm system. The sound blaring so loudly that she frowned, this was the first time it had ever made sounds like this.

She left the room, unfortunately missing the incoming calls from her parents. Moving towards the room with her white slippers, the house was squishy clean; no particles of dust could be found.

The workers cleaned the mansion almost every day and left when they were done, so Ember was the only one in the house.

’Why is it making so much noise....ha! I can’t wait to find out if she was his sugar mommy or not?’ Her pace picked up to see what the problem was, so she could quickly go back to reading.

Halfway there, the sound stopped, and Ember was about to turn back when she inhaled the virus air, which seeped through the edges of her doors and windows.

symptoms came with a vengeance, sharp pain zapped through her head as her vision blurred.

She clawed at her throat, feeling it hard to breathe as her legs weakened, collapsing on the ground.

Minutes passed as cracks formed on her face, her eyes turning black and her skin decaying with shocking speed.

Ember was the first Zombies; her immune system was too poor to have a fighting chance against the zombie virus, but miraculously, she was able to retain some of her humanity.

***Present****

"The competitor has passed the Endurance test. Sending to the next test location in 3...2...1."

Eva disappeared in place, appearing in a battle arena. Eva shot up in a sitting position, "Hhh...I felt...." She struggled to continue, her heavy breathing cutting off her words.

’I felt like I had a dream I couldn’t remember. Forget about that, where am I?’ Eva blinked in confusion at the arena.

Then she noticed her clothes were in their neat state like she had just put them on. But her injuries remained, too numb by cold to feel anything.

She tried her powers and relief flooded her when she felt the familiar energy flowing through her body healing her up.

"Battle begins." The mechanical voice made Eva become cautious, already traumatized by the test methods.

She thought she had seen it all, but when she saw her opponent, Eva was struck with shock.

"Bloody Hell!"
