Chapter 31: Ow! Bloody hell!

Chapter 31: Ow! Bloody hell!

Ethan didn’t waste a second, he froze the other men, not giving them a chance to plead. In front of the counter man, they shattered into particles, vanishing without a trace.

"I-I...was forced...yes? They forced me." The man crawled towards Ethan, his face streaked with tears as he begged for his life.

"Please.... don’t-" the man’s eyes widened when he felt the ice dagger tip on his throat. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead as he stared down at the ice dagger in terror.

He couldn’t swallow, feeling the tip would dig into his neck. He could only plead as he locked gazes with cold blue eyes.

"The location of the train, is it valid?" Ethan asked, his hand controlling the dagger tip to pierce his neck slowly.

Blood seeped as the man grimaced, tears streaming down his face.

"Y-yes.’’

After getting his answer the dagger pierced through the man’s throat, blood spurted as the man’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"Ghhk...gurgle...khhrrgh....ughh-" the man collapsed on the ground, choking to death in his blood.

Ethan turned and they both continued on their journey. Feeling the charged tension of the city and the choking darkness, Julian and Ethan’s expression grew urgent.

They boarded a bus to Red Street, where passengers had to pay with coins instead of cards.

And 3 gold coins per person. Even if they were wealthy, they could still notice the inflated price. The fare equaled a month’s air tax, spent on a single ride.

Some passengers got off, cursing the driver over the inflated fare, blaming it on the electricity shortage.

Julian’s eyes darted around the almost empty bus, and he sighed; he brought Eva close to him. Eva turned in her sleep, settled into his chest, and continued her sleep.

They said nothing to each other, each lost in thought as the dark cityscape blurred past the windows.

With the bus’s front light shining the way ahead. Thirty minutes later the bus stopped at their location, getting down.

The sounds of wares being sold, roasted meat and food wafted through the air with crowds of people walking past.

They felt slight relief to see this normal sight. Ethan stopped a passerby to ask for the train station.

"Just head down and turn to your left." The man shouted over the noise of people, Ethan nodded in thanks.

They shuttled through the crowd, "Wait, I need to buy breakfast for us!" Ethan shouted over the noise, waving at Julian to wait at the side.

Julian waited at the corner, watching Ethan enter a shop. After some minutes passed, he came out; Ethan placed everything into the space bag to keep them warm.

They followed the man’s directions, and before they could reach, they heard a loud horning sound. Their pace picked up.

Ethan bought a private sleeper cabin, estimating it would take three days to reach Oasis City from here.

Finally settled in their seats, Eva stirred, her eyes fluttering open as she stared groggily at the ceiling.

"You’re awake, are you feeling alright?" Ethan asked across from the seat, his tone held concern as he stared at her.

"W-water." Eva croaked out, her throat dry and hoarse, causing her to winch when she heard her voice.

Julian held her with one hand and used his free hand to get a bottle of water out of his space bag.

"Here. drink slowly." He fed her water, and Eva gripped his hands, desperate for more. She felt she had been stuck in a desert without a drop of water.

She drank the water greedily, her throat feeling soothed and her dazed eyes clearing up.

Realizing she was in Julian’s arms, memories of the night before flooded her mind. Her cheeks burned as she tried to pull away, but...

"Ow! Bloody hell!" Eva cursed, as pain zapped through her body. Her waist, her lower half, every freaking place hurt.

She fell back into Julian’s hands, her green eyes dark from pain and anger as she shot daggers at the culprits. The bubble of shyness had popped ruthlessly.

"Where does it hurt?" Julian asked with a flattering tone, knowing they were in the wrong. Yesterday was too intense, coupled with the drug effect on her; they forgot it was her first time.

Ethan rummaged through his space bag for a healing potion, then froze- Nectar still lingered in her system.

The drug takes two days before it leaves its host systems by sweat or other means. To take anything now would make the remaining Nectar in her bloodstream react, and what happened yesterday would have to repeat itself on the train.

Retracting his hands from his space bag, he met Julian’s gaze and shook his head. Something clicked in Julian’s mind, and he stared at the grimacing Eva with guilt and apology.

Eva felt she had been ran over by a car, and the driver felt it wasn’t enough and ran her over again.

Her body felt so sore and weak, she took deep breaths and was about to suck in the energy in the air.

"Eva, unless you’re up for another round, I wouldn’t do that. Not that I mind though." Julian’s tone held curiosity and desire, freezing Eva in place.

She turned stiffly towards him with her eyes bulging when she saw his sincere gaze; she turned over to Ethan and saw his serious expression as well.

’Ahhhhhh! wha... Why!’ She screamed internally, her face betraying no emotion.

"I’m never going to have sex again." She said in a flat tone, she felt traumatized by this experience, selectively ignoring the mind-blowing pleasure she felt.

"Eva, why not? Didn’t we perform well?’’ Julian leaned closer, nipping her earlobe.

"I promise to perform well and change your mind." His husky, dark voice whispered seductively into her ears. Causing her spine to tingle.

She covered his mouth and eyes in one swift motion.

’I’m immune to his charm, I can’t, no, never be seduced. But his voice... No, no, Eva, remember the pain you are feeling right now.’ she thought to herself and finally settled down in a zan-like calm.

It was cut short when she felt herself being gently lifted; she instinctively wrapped her hands around his neck and locked her gaze with Ethan’s dark blue eyes.

Gulp.
